Chapter 310 Kneeling on the Keyboard
Back then, everyone thought Sophia was overwhelmed with grief and had developed hysteria. Some people even gossiped about her behind her back.
Finnley raised an eyebrow. "You don't seem too happy to see me alive?"
He wasn't sure if it was just his imagination, but he always felt like Elodie held some hostility toward him.
Elodie snorted coldly, her gaze full of ice as she looked at Finnley. "At least you have some self-awareness. Our Sophia spent two years waiting for you to come back. That's not just time—that's a woman's youth! You should be grateful we're not making you pay compensation."
Finnley rubbed his tired brow, feeling helpless.
Why was everyone he met questioning him?
Still, he answered patiently, "I'm sorry for what I put her through. I won't leave her again."
Sophia turned her head to look at him, her eyes meeting his deep gaze.
Her nose tingled with emotion as she gripped his hand tightly. "It's good that you're back..."
Elodie wasn't as forgiving as Sophia.
She lifted her chin proudly and smiled sarcastically. "If I remember correctly, you said that before, didn't you? And what happened?"
That one sentence instantly froze the atmosphere in the private room.
Finnley's lips twitched slightly as he tightened his grip on Sophia's hand.
Sophia wanted to step in and smooth things over, but Elodie glared her back into silence.
Elodie crossed her arms and walked up to Finnley, looking him up and down before sneering. "If you ask me, why wait? The guys chasing our Sophia could form a line from here to overseas. Any one of them would be better than you."
"You're that popular?" Finnley didn't get angry. Instead, he looked at Sophia with interest.
Sophia awkwardly touched her nose and explained quietly, "I never paid attention to any of them."
So it was true then?
Finnley suddenly felt uncomfortable, and his expression darkened.
Cillian, who had been sitting on the sofa watching the show, saw Finnley's face change and quickly stepped forward to pull Elodie away. "Hey, didn't you need to use the restroom? Go now!"
"Why are you stopping me? I'm not done yet!" Elodie frowned, not wanting to leave.
Cillian's scalp went numb with fear. "Stop making trouble. No one can stop Benjamin when he loses his temper."
Hearing this, Elodie got even angrier. "He dares to lose his temper with me? If he's got the guts, let him..."
Before she could finish, her mouth was covered.
"Stop talking! That's not talking—that's stabbing Benjamin in the heart!"
In the past, whenever Benjamin heard about people pursuing Sophia, his face would always darken.
Just like it did a moment ago.
When Benjamin got jealous, the consequences were serious.
Watching them leave, Finnley looked puzzled. "Are they together?"
Sophia smiled and shook her head. "Not yet, but probably soon."
Finnley's expression was complicated. "With the White family's wealth and influence in Silverlight City, they shouldn't need a business marriage, right?"
Sophia found it amusing. "Can't you tell they like each other?"
Finnley was stunned. "They do?"
If they liked each other... would they bicker so carelessly?
Sophia's lips curved slightly as she blinked her clear eyes at him. "Mr. Bryant, now I finally believe you never had a girlfriend or fiancée before."
She really didn't understand why Benjamin's personality had changed so much after losing his memory.
The old Benjamin, while a bit slow about romance, wasn't completely clueless.
The current Benjamin was basically a blank slate when it came to love.
A blank slate that made people want to color it with their own unique shade.
"I really didn't," Finnley said quietly.
Sophia nodded with satisfaction and explained softly, "They probably haven't realized they like each other yet. They bicker every day, always arguing, but actually care about each other more than anyone."
It was kind of funny—Elodie used to treat Cillian like an idol.
Elodie was even a fan of Cillian.
But after Elodie met Cillian in person, her fan filter completely shattered.
From then on, Cillian and Elodie became frenemies, unable to resist bickering whenever they met.
But if something really happened to either of them, they'd be more worried than anyone.
Hearing Sophia's words, Finnley glanced at her thoughtfully.
Just then, Hannah came over and grabbed Sophia's hand. "Come on, come dance with me downstairs. Let these two guys stay here."
"Didn't you used to think dancing was tiring?" Sophia asked with a smile.
Hannah glared at Steven resentfully. "It's all his fault! Ever since Alaric left the lab, he's been in charge. He's been working on some project lately and dragged me into overtime with him. I'm going crazy!"
She needed to let loose.
Before leaving, Hannah paused and said to Sophia right in front of Finnley, "Don't forgive him so easily. Make him learn his lesson so he never dares to leave for so long again!"
Hannah knew better than anyone how Sophia had spent these past two years.
Sophia had gone from a lively girl to someone quiet and withdrawn.
She came to the bar to drink almost every day.
She never talked about her pain, but everyone could feel it.
As a good friend, she had to stand up for Sophia.
Sophia glanced at Finnley's unfriendly expression and asked with a smile, "I think you're right. Do you have any good suggestions?"
Hannah: "After making you sad for so long, shouldn't he sleep in the study for at least a month?"
Finnley: "..."
Hannah shot Finnley a sideways glance. "You don't have a problem with that, do you?"
Though phrased as a question, her eyes were full of threat, as if she wouldn't let him off easily if he said the wrong thing.
Finnley's eye twitched as he nodded slightly. "That's fair."
Getting Finnley's answer, Hannah stood even straighter. "Keyboard, durian, instant noodles, washboard—pick one. At least a week minimum."
"Do what?" Finnley asked, confused.
Hannah: "Kneel on it, obviously! What else?"
Under Finnley's stunned gaze, Sophia nodded in agreement. "That's a good idea. Pick one!"
Finnley didn't know what to say for a moment.
Who invented these torturous methods?
Keyboard, durian, instant noodles, washboard? These were for kneeling on?
However, meeting Sophia's eyes sparkling with light, he instinctively said, "Keyboard."
"Perfect! It's settled then!" Hannah clapped excitedly.
When Cillian came back, that's what he heard.
Wait, he just stepped out for a moment—how did Finnley end up having to kneel on a keyboard?
