Chapter 29 She Is His Legitimate Wife
Benjamin reluctantly agreed.
Back in his study, Benjamin opened his laptop and addressed his employees on the screen in a low voice, "The meeting's cut to thirty minutes. Just hit the important points."
Everyone exchanged bewildered glances, their faces filled with shock.
Benjamin was always punctual. This had never happened before.
What was going on today?
Benjamin's face was stern, his eyes narrowed slightly. "Do you want to lose your job?"
His deep voice carried a chilling edge, sharp as a knife.
Even through the screen, the employees could feel Benjamin's cold aura.
They quickly averted their gazes and began reporting their work.
Half an hour later, Benjamin's angry voice echoed from the study.
"I gave you three days, and this is what you show me?"
"Making such basic mistakes, are you sure you're fit for this job?"
In the conference room, the employee called out, shivering, eyes filled with panic.
The room fell silent.
No one dared to breathe too loudly, fearing Benjamin's wrath might turn on them.
Just as everyone was silently praying to get through this ordeal unscathed, a crisp, sweet voice suddenly came from the other end of the video call, "Babe! It's been half an hour! Are you done with your meeting?"
One brave soul glanced up at the projector and nearly dropped their jaw.
What did they just see?
Benjamin, who was always distant and uninterested in women, had a lively, charming woman beside him!
What did she call Benjamin?
Babe?
Did they hear that right?
The expressions in the conference room were uniform, filled with shock and a hint of curiosity.
They desperately wanted to see the girl's face clearly.
However, the next second, Benjamin's eyes narrowed, his cold gaze sweeping over them.
Meeting Benjamin's icy, murderous look, everyone's heart skipped a beat, and they quickly lowered their heads, bracing for his fury.
But Benjamin merely gave them a cold glance.
Just moments ago, he had been filled with anger, his face dark. Now, although he remained expressionless, his eyes had softened a bit.
"What are you doing here?" Benjamin looked at Sophia, the sternness on his face easing slightly.
Sophia pouted and pointed at Benjamin's watch, "I told you, only half an hour. It's been half an hour."
"Babe, you broke your promise!"
Benjamin was taken aback, not realizing how quickly time had passed.
He cleared his throat and said in a deep voice to the people on the screen, "Have the project proposal revised and on my desk by tomorrow morning. Meeting adjourned."
Without waiting for their reactions, Benjamin ended the video call.
Turning his head, he met Sophia's bright, sparkling eyes.
Under the light, Sophia's eyes shone with curiosity.
Benjamin stood up, his tall figure casting a shadow that fell over Sophia.
Sophia looked up, meeting his deep, ocean-like eyes.
"Interested?" Benjamin asked.
Sophia nodded, her eyes gleaming with excitement, "Babe, you were so cool during the meeting! One look and they were too scared to speak!"
Benjamin was speechless.
Was he really that intimidating?
It was clearly that those people were incompetent, unable to write a proper proposal.
He pressed his lips together and straightened up, walking out of the study.
Sophia scratched her head, puzzled as to why Benjamin was upset.
As soon as Benjamin stepped into the bedroom, he was hit by a strong medicinal scent.
He frowned, clearly not fond of the smell.
He instinctively wanted to leave, but his eyes fell on the array of herbal preparation tools nearby.
Alaric had mentioned that herbal baths seemed simple but required precise control of each ingredient.
So, Sophia had spent the last half hour preparing the herbs for his bath?
Looking at the various herbs on the floor, Benjamin pressed his thin lips together, unsure of what he was feeling.
Sophia was about to return to the bedroom when someone blocked her path.
Looking up, she saw Cillian's handsome, boyish face.
At that moment, he was staring at her with a complex expression, tinged with a bit of resentment.
"Are you really Benjamin's wife?"
Cillian had been busy with his concert preparations, so overwhelmed that he had handed his phone to his manager.
He hadn't expected that in just a few days, Benjamin had actually gotten married.
Facing Cillian's question, Sophia shook her head and corrected him with a serious face, "We're already married!"
The Brown family had wanted Sophia to stay by Benjamin's side for their own benefit, but they never expected Benjamin to take her to the marriage registry.
So, she was now officially Benjamin's wife.
Thinking of Benjamin, Sophia's lips curved into a smile.
Hearing this, Cillian's gaze at Sophia grew even more complicated.
Cillian knew well how cold and indifferent Benjamin was, how much he despised the world.
He had thought Benjamin would never willingly get close to anyone in his life.
But unexpectedly, he had quietly gotten married.
Still, if Benjamin could find happiness, Cillian would be happy for him too.
Seeing Cillian remain silent, Sophia frowned, "Cillian, do you need something? If not, I'll be going. My husband is waiting for me!"
With that, she walked around Cillian and headed towards the bedroom.
"Babe, I just made some scar-removal ointment. After you take a bath..." Before she could finish, Sophia froze.
She quickly covered her eyes with her hands.
But unable to resist her curiosity, she slowly opened a gap between her fingers to peek at Benjamin.
Under the light, Benjamin's tall, lean body was perfectly defined, his eight-pack abs exuding a powerful allure.
Every muscle was perfectly toned, not too bulky, not too lean.
His physique could easily rival that of an international model!
Sophia stared through her fingers at Benjamin's perfect body, her heart racing.
Benjamin usually looked slim, but who knew he had such a great body under his clothes!
As Sophia was lost in admiration, a deep, cello-like voice suddenly sounded, "Do you like what you see?"
"Yes." Sophia licked her lips, responding instinctively.
