Chapter 28 I'm You Brother's Wife
As he pondered, Cillian suddenly straightened his back.
Clearing his throat, he whispered to Sophia, "Do you know who I am?"
Sophia shook her head, looking puzzled. "Nope."
Cillian stared at her in shock.
She didn't recognize him?
He was a top-tier singer in the entertainment industry with millions of fans, and yet there was someone who didn't know him?
Moreover, wasn't the Illegitimate child coming to the White family supposed to be here to fight for the inheritance?
He remembered that was how it always played out in TV dramas.
The mistress outside would desperately have a child just to increase the stakes in the inheritance battle.
Cillian felt deeply disappointed, thinking that the mistress outside was too incompetent.
Before coming to the White family, shouldn't she have introduced the family members to avoid any mistakes and being rejected by the White family, losing the chance to fight for the inheritance?
He gritted his teeth quietly, a malicious smile appearing on his face.
Leaning closer to Sophia, he whispered, "If I'm not mistaken, I should be your brother! So if you want a place in this family, you'd better listen to me!"
Sophia was speechless.
Sophia slowly swallowed the potato chip in her mouth, and under Cillian's smug gaze, she calmly spoke, "If I'm not mistaken, I'm your brother's wife! I'm your elder, so you should listen to me!"
Cillian, who was waiting for Sophia to call him brother, was stunned.
He nearly jumped off the floor, staring at Sophia in disbelief. "What did you say? My brother is married? Don't talk nonsense! Messing up the family hierarchy will get you in trouble! Grandpa is very strict!"
Cillian originally thought Sophia was quite obedient, but she turned out to be even more rebellious than he was.
However, Sophia just smiled faintly, speaking firmly, "You must be the silly brother my husband mentioned? I'm Sophia, your second brother's wife, really."
Cillian was puzzled.
He was only gone for a few days. How did Benjamin get married?
Everyone in Silverlight City knew that Benjamin was sickly, suffering from an incurable disease, and wasn't expected to live past twenty-five.
How could anyone marry him? Did they take him for a fool?
However, Sophia pointed sincerely behind him, "I'm telling the truth, ask my husband if you don't believe me!"
Cillian felt a wave of fear, his body stiffening as he turned to look behind him, seeing a familiar tall figure slowly walking in.
"Benjamin?" Cillian's voice trembled as he pointed at Sophia sitting on the floor.
"Benjamin, she's really not Magnus's illegitimate daughter?"
As Benjamin walked in, he immediately noticed Sophia sitting on the cold floor, surrounded by empty snack bags.
He raised an eyebrow and walked straight to Sophia. "Just eating these junk foods? Didn't I make chicken soup?"
His tall and upright figure stood in front of Sophia, blocking the light from the ceiling.
Sophia looked up, only able to see a blurry shadow.
The surrounding seemed to be coated with a layer of cold white light, making his presence even more chilling.
She pouted, her tone playful, "How can I drink chicken soup on an empty stomach at night? It's too greasy, I won't be able to sleep!"
Benjamin laughed.
Eating these junk foods would help her sleep?
However, he didn't argue with Sophia. Instead, he turned to the stunned Cillian. "Cut down on buying this junk food."
"Sophia is still growing. I don't want to see this stuff again."
After saying that, Benjamin bent down, lifted Sophia into his arms, and walked out of the kitchen with long strides.
He ignored Cillian's shocked and bewildered expression, whispering to Sophia, "The floor's cold. Don't sit on it anymore."
Cillian thought to himself, 'Is this really my brother?'
When he talked to Cillian, he was cold and indifferent, but when he spoke to Sophia, he was gentle and doting.
If Cillian hadn't seen this himself, he would have thought Benjamin had been swapped with someone else.
In his memory, Benjamin rarely smiled, always with a blank expression.
Even if he did smile, it was a cold, mocking smile.
His tone when speaking was always devoid of warmth.
Who exactly was Sophia?
Why was Benjamin treating her so differently?
Benjamin carried Sophia back to their room, placing her on the large bed, frowning as he advised, "Eat less of those junk foods, they're unhealthy."
Sophia licked her lips, seemingly still savoring the taste of the snacks.
Hearing Benjamin's words, Sophia's face instantly fell. "But they're really delicious. I rarely got to eat them when I was on the mountain."
Sophia's small face drooped slightly, her expression full of grievance, her cherry-red lips pouting slightly, silently expressing her inner resistance.
Seeing her like this, a trace of reluctance flashed across Benjamin's usually cold face.
Had he just spoken too harshly?
She was only twenty years old, still a child.
Wasn't it normal for kids to like snacks?
Moreover, Sophia had always lived on the mountain and was bullied by the Brown family. Should she still be restricted after coming to the White family?
This wasn't the reason Benjamin brought her home.
Conflicted thoughts spread in his heart, a hint of guilt flashing through Benjamin's mind.
He slowly bent down, his large palm gently brushing Sophia's hair, softening his tone. "Sorry, I spoke too harshly just now. You can eat them if you want, but not too much. They're unhealthy and bad for your body."
"Really? You're the best! I love you so much!" Sophia's eyes lit up with joy at his words, a dazzling light shining in her eyes.
That light pierced straight into Benjamin's heart.
He awkwardly looked away. "Yes, really."
In a place where no one could see, his ears started to heat up again, his heart pounding uncontrollably.
Under the light, Benjamin lowered his eyes, placing a hand on his chest, his tightly pressed lips curling slightly, his expression content.
"Rest early, I have a video conference in the study, don't wait up for me." After speaking, he turned to leave. But the next second, his clothes were suddenly tugged by a hand.
Benjamin turned back, hearing Sophia say, "Honey, you need to take a medicinal bath tonight, remember?"
Benjamin was suddenly reminded.
It seemed there was such a thing.
"Medicinal bath… what do we need?"
Sophia pointed to several large boxes nearby. "Of course, the herbs."
Sophia stood up, pushing Benjamin towards the door. "You have half an hour, be back on time for the medicinal bath!"
Benjamin instinctively wanted to refuse, but Sophia spoke firmly, "I'm a doctor, you have to listen to me!"
