Chapter 271 Two Boxes Seem Not Enough
"It's okay, it's all in the past now. Grandpa, I'm back." Sophia held Maddox's hand tightly, her eyes welling up with tears.
So this is what it feels like to be cared for by family. It feels wonderful.
Not all relatives are like Hayden and Olivia.
Xander, Tyrell, and Maddox all treat her well. That's enough.
"Good child, it's good that you're back, good that you're back!"
Watching Sophia and Maddox's warm exchange, Xander and Tyrell, who had just returned, looked at each other and smiled, their eyes full of relief.
"Grandpa, your body is still very weak. No matter what happens in the future, you can't get angry again."
Fortunately, he was sent to the hospital in time this time. Otherwise, the consequences would have been unthinkable.
Maddox sighed, his face darkening. "Where's Olivia? Is she still in Harmony City?"
Hearing this, Tyrell immediately said, "Dad, why do you still care about her? Have you forgotten how angry she made you?"
Olivia, that ungrateful traitor, is simply too terrible!
If he still had some sympathy left for Olivia before, now all that remained was resentment.
He never imagined his own sister could be this kind of person!
Maddox slowly shook his head, his expression cold. "Xander, send someone to Silverlight City to investigate Hayden. With Hayden's wild ambitions, he definitely hasn't been clean all these years."
After thinking for a moment, Xander instantly understood what Maddox meant.
Hayden probably has a mistress somewhere.
A calculating person like him couldn't possibly not have left himself a backup plan.
Olivia is probably the only one who believes Hayden is completely loyal to her.
"Alright, I'll investigate right away."
Xander whispered a few instructions to Tyrell and left the hospital room.
Benjamin had been sitting on the sofa without speaking, but his eyes never left Sophia.
Maddox slowly turned his gaze to him, his eyes filled with assessment.
To be fair, Benjamin was top-tier in every aspect.
He not only had a strong family background and status, but was also handsome and talented. At such a young age, he had already taken control of the White Group and managed the White family so well.
Moreover, Xander had already shown him that agreement.
Good. Benjamin had real courage.
Most importantly, Benjamin was patient and sincere toward Sophia.
No matter how people change, their eyes can never lie.
After all his years in the business world, Maddox still had the ability to judge people.
"Benjamin, come here."
Maddox waved at Benjamin.
Benjamin was stunned for a moment, then stood up and walked to the bedside. "Maddox?"
"I heard Sophia was sold to your family. That doesn't sound very good."
Benjamin remained calm and explained sincerely, "The White family has never treated Sophia as an outsider. She is my wife, Benjamin's wife, and will be for the rest of her life."
Maddox asked again, "Anyone can say nice things, but who knows if it's one thing to your face and another behind your back? I don't have many years left. I just hope my descendants can find a good home."
"Of course." Benjamin placed his hand on Sophia's shoulder, his deep eyes full of sincerity. "Maddox, I will treat Sophia well. Please trust me."
Benjamin knew the Smith family would definitely oppose this marriage. He just didn't expect this day to come so suddenly.
Maddox's words were fairly tactful, but he could hear the protection and love he had for Sophia.
Before Maddox could speak again, Benjamin said word by word, "Everything that belongs to Sophia—whether it's a wedding or anything else—she won't miss out on any of it. I've already had someone custom-make a wedding dress. I believe you'll see us get married very soon."
Sophia looked up at him in surprise. Wedding dress? Marriage? When did this happen? How come she didn't know anything about it?
Meeting her confused eyes, Benjamin chuckled softly and leaned down to whisper in her ear, "I'll explain later."
"Sophia, what do you think? Are you happy with this marriage?"
Maddox turned his gaze to Sophia.
He had previously asked Xander to investigate Benjamin and found that aside from the earlier rumors about him not living past twenty-five, there really wasn't anything to criticize.
He heard the poison in his body had now been cured.
Actually, his and Xander's thinking was the same. Although they were Sophia's relatives, they hadn't watched her grow up or given her anything.
So they had no right to interfere too much with her marriage.
As long as the other person had good character and wouldn't be shameless and despicable like Hayden, they could accept everything else.
Benjamin was undoubtedly the best choice.
Benjamin also looked at her, waiting for her answer.
Sophia raised her head and looked back at him.
Under everyone's expectant gaze, Sophia nodded firmly. "I'm happy."
Maddox couldn't help but laugh, and Tyrell laughed along.
"You're a girl. Don't you know anything about being reserved?" Tyrell teased.
But Sophia didn't care. She grabbed Benjamin's hand and said firmly, "I'm already married. I'm not worried about finding a husband, so why should I care about my image? Besides, if I'm not thick-skinned, my husband might run away!"
Sophia thought back to the day she first met Benjamin. If she hadn't been thick-skinned enough to hitch a ride, how could she and Benjamin have gotten married so quickly?
So there's nothing wrong with being a bit thick-skinned.
Benjamin held Sophia's hand back, also remembering that day.
At that time, he hadn't recognized Sophia yet.
She had asked him one question: "Are you my husband?"
At that moment, he was completely stunned and almost thought he'd run into a scammer.
Good thing he didn't just walk away coldly.
So everything was meant to be.
Their connection had started long ago.
Fate brought them together again seventeen years later, and from that moment on, Benjamin never wanted to let go of her hand.
"Good! Well said!" Watching the interaction between Benjamin and Sophia, Maddox was in great spirits.
A smile spread across his face.
After Benjamin and Sophia left the hospital, they went to a supermarket.
Today they were going to check out their new home.
More precisely, their newly purchased house.
The villa had been renovated and was ready to move into.
She and Benjamin would be staying in Harmony City for a while longer and would live here long-term in the future.
On the way home, Benjamin stopped the car at a supermarket.
Benjamin and Sophia browsed for a long time and bought a bunch of things—snacks, vegetables, fruits, meat, and some household items.
At checkout, Sophia was concentrating on bagging the items.
Benjamin's eyes inadvertently swept over some small boxes on the shelf, and his gaze paused.
His slender fingers lightly pinched two small boxes from the shelf. "These two as well, ring them up together."
After thinking for a moment, Benjamin picked out a few more boxes in different flavors and added them in.
Two boxes probably wouldn't be enough.
