Chapter 261 The Smith Family
Ryder said with a serious expression: "Mr. Smith fainted because he got too worked up and his emotions fluctuated too much. It seems to have triggered some complications. I suggest he be sent to the hospital for treatment right away."
Xander's face grew even darker. The servants didn't dare to breathe. Following Zane's instructions, they called the emergency center.
He stormed downstairs, pulled Olivia up from the sofa, and questioned her in a low voice, "Don't you know Dad's health isn't good? You come back and immediately throw the whole house into chaos. What right do you have to return to the Smith family?"
In Olivia's memory, Xander had always been gentle and refined.
He had never lost his temper like this before.
Xander used to speak to her softly, even in a coaxing tone.
She had never seen Xander looking so furious, with rage written all over his face.
"Xander, please don't be like this. I'm scared," Olivia said, looking at Xander with terror.
Xander let out a cold laugh and roughly pushed Olivia away.
Actually, over these years, he had been keeping tabs on the Brown family.
Although Maddox had given strict orders that they would no longer care about Olivia's fate, he had always worried about this sister of his.
He even transferred tens of millions of dollars to that card every year.
But he never expected that after more than twenty years, Olivia still hadn't changed.
Not only did she give up her dad and brother who had loved her for so many years for a scumbag, but now she was even willing to humble herself before her family for that same cheating scumbag.
Looking at Olivia, he felt disappointed in her. She used to be so bold and carefree, but now he couldn't find any trace of who she used to be.
"Scared? So you do know fear. I can tell you very clearly that I won't help you, and I won't help the Brown family get through this crisis."
"Xander, I really have nowhere else to turn. Please, I'm begging you."
Olivia once again put aside her dignity and knelt down before Xander.
Xander was shocked by how shameless she could be. He sneered coldly: "I told you over twenty years ago that once you walked out that door, you would cut all ties with this family. From then on, whatever happened to you, good or bad, would have nothing to do with us. So what gives you the nerve to come begging us now?"
"I really know I was wrong," Olivia said, tears streaming down her face. She kept wiping her tears, talking about how much she had suffered all these years.
But Xander didn't want to hear a word of it.
"Get out. The Smith Villa doesn't welcome you," he said coldly.
Olivia was stung by his cold gaze and left the Smith Villa in disgrace.
Watching her retreating figure, Xander took a deep breath, then turned to look at the servant standing nearby with her head down, saying nothing.
"Don't bring just anyone into this house in the future. What do you think this place is?"
The servant quickly nodded.
When Xander arrived at the hospital, the doctor explained Maddox's condition with a very serious expression.
"Mr. Smith's condition is quite serious and requires surgery as soon as possible. However, this surgery carries significant risks. He said a decision needs to be made quickly."
Xander's heart suddenly sank. His vision went dark, and he swayed, only managing to steady himself by leaning his arm against the wall.
The hospital corridor was eerily quiet.
Everyone held their breath, looking straight at Xander, waiting for his answer.
"Do it. Get the best doctors and specialists. Spare no expense, as long as it can make my father better."
After a long silence, Xander finally spoke coldly.
……
The next afternoon.
Sophia and Benjamin flew to Harmony City.
They went straight to the Smith Villa but were stopped at the door by a servant.
"My master isn't home. Please leave."
Although the servant could tell that Sophia and Benjamin had excellent bearing and were clearly not ordinary people, Xander had instructed that when he wasn't home, no one was allowed through the Smith Villa gates.
"I'm Mr. Maddox Smith's granddaughter. I came specifically to see him," Sophia explained patiently.
Granddaughter?
The servant looked at Sophia suspiciously and noticed that her features did resemble Olivia, who had come yesterday.
But Sophia before her was even more stunning.
Sophia had an indescribable charm that made it impossible to look away once you saw her.
Even as a woman, the servant felt somewhat captivated.
But captivated or not, she couldn't break the rules.
"Do you have any proof of your identity?" There were so many scammers these days.
Although Sophia didn't look like that type of person, she had to be careful.
Sophia helplessly touched her forehead and quickly took out her phone to call Tyrell.
Tyrell still had some work to finish in Silverlight City and wouldn't be back until tomorrow, so Sophia and Benjamin had come ahead.
Soon, the call connected.
"Sophia? You landed?" Tyrell's clear voice came through the phone.
The servant froze—it really was Tyrell's voice.
"Tyrell, I'm already at the Smith Villa. Didn't you tell the family I was coming?"
Tyrell was silent for a moment, then said: "Put the phone on speaker and let me talk to them."
Sophia immediately did so.
Tyrell introduced Sophia's identity, then asked: "Didn't I call Xander before and mention this? What's going on with you people? You dare to stop Sophia!"
The servant was frightened by his words, and a layer of cold sweat instantly appeared on her forehead.
"Mr. Smith, I took a few days off to go home and didn't know about this at all. I'm so sorry."
Tyrell sighed and warned: "If there's a next time, you're fired."
After hanging up, the servant immediately invited Sophia and Benjamin inside.
As she led them in, she explained: "I'm really sorry. Yesterday Ms. Smith—no, Olivia—came back and made Mr. Maddox Smith so angry he got sick. So Mr. Xander Smith instructed that no strangers should be let in."
"Maddox is sick? Which hospital is he at?"
"The best hospital in Harmony City is of course the private hospital under the Smith Group. Mr. Xander Smith went there yesterday and hasn't come back yet."
Sophia stopped in her tracks and turned to look at Benjamin.
Benjamin instantly understood what she was thinking. "You want to go to the hospital?"
"Yes, I want to go see Mr. Xander Smith."
Sophia had never met Mr. Xander Smith and had only heard Tyrell mention him.
Tyrell had said before that Maddox only had some minor age-related issues and it wasn't serious, but it seemed Olivia had really upset him this time.
She turned to the servant and said: "We'll leave our luggage here for now. We need to go to the hospital. Also, could you arrange a car for us?"
The servant immediately nodded and headed to the garage.
Strangely enough, although Sophia was only twenty years old, the way she spoke made people inexplicably want to follow her orders.
The servant went to the garage and took out one of the family's regular cars.
Of course, Tyrell and Xander's collector cars were not for servants like them to touch.
Sophia and Benjamin weren't picky. They got in the car, gave the servant a few casual instructions, and left.
On the way to the hospital, Sophia's phone suddenly rang.
Sophia took out her phone and saw it was Francis calling.
"Francis."
"Sophia, I heard you came to Harmony City? Perfect timing—I'm about to do a surgery at the hospital and I'm short an assistant. It's great that you're here."
