Chapter 255 Spend Every Holiday Together for the Rest of Our Lives
Before leaving, Hayden warned, "Don't even think about telling the Smith family about this. I have a hundred ways to make sure you never walk out that door for the rest of your life. You should know me well enough, Olivia."
Hayden smiled as he said her name, his tone as gentle as always, but Olivia felt like she'd fallen into an ice cave, cold all over.
After he left, Olivia couldn't hold it in anymore and burst into tears.
She was wrong.
She regretted it...
It turned out that devotion and love could both be faked, and she had hurt the family members who loved her most for the sake of a heartless bastard.
...
The lab.
Sophia was busy with her research at the lab bench. Not far away on the couch, Benjamin had his laptop on his lap, focused and serious as he handled work.
Every now and then, he'd look up and glance at that busy figure in the distance.
These past few days, Sophia had barely slept, even more focused than him, a workaholic.
In ten days, Sophia had lost a whole circle of weight. The white lab coat hung loose on her body.
Usually when Sophia did experiments, she didn't allow outsiders in, but this was her own lab, so he'd been staying here these ten days.
During the day, she'd be busy with experiments while he handled work.
When she got into her experiments, she'd often forget the time and forget to eat. Benjamin would remind her on schedule and drag her to eat.
These days, Harvest & Hearth had temporarily closed, with all the cooks busy making different nutritious meals for Sophia.
In the Harvest & Hearth kitchen, everyone was on high alert. The atmosphere had never been this tense.
Because the delivery people said Sophia barely ate a few bites, and every time they saw Benjamin, he looked really worried.
They had a feeling that if they couldn't make food that suited Sophia's taste, they'd probably get fired.
So nobody dared slack off.
In the afternoon, the head chef got a call from Benjamin, and his face finally showed a hint of a smile.
Soon, everyone got busy.
Benjamin closed his laptop and stared at Sophia's back.
His Sophia was so charming even when busy, like she was glowing all over, brilliant and dazzling, impossible to look away from.
He pulled out his phone from his pocket, opened the camera, and took a photo of Sophia's back.
Benjamin looked at the photo on his phone with satisfaction, his thin lips curving slightly as he set it as his phone wallpaper.
As the sky outside gradually darkened, Sophia finally looked up from the lab bench.
She stretched and turned to look at Benjamin sitting on the couch.
Benjamin was watching her, his deep eyes full of tenderness.
"Done?" Benjamin asked in a low, husky voice.
"Pretty much." Sophia tidied up the things on the lab bench, put them back in place, then took off her lab coat and walked toward the couch.
As soon as Sophia got close to the couch, her wrist was suddenly gripped tightly by a slightly cool hand.
Then her waist tightened, her body suddenly weightless. When she came to her senses, Sophia was already sitting on Benjamin's lap.
She was held tightly in Benjamin's arms, warm breath slowly reaching her ear.
Her earlobe felt a bit itchy, the tingling sensation like electric currents flowing through her whole body.
Benjamin laughed helplessly, "If you didn't finish soon, I was about to interrupt you."
Sophia paused, then realized what Benjamin meant.
So Benjamin was complaining that she was too focused on her experiments and had ignored him.
Her eyes rolled, and she lifted her slender arms, wrapped them around Benjamin's neck, and planted a light kiss on his thin lips.
"Mr. White, here's some compensation. Don't be mad anymore, okay?"
"One kiss isn't enough..." The soft touch on his lips made Benjamin's eyes darken. He took control, held the back of Sophia's head, and deepened the kiss.
Benjamin's strong masculine scent almost wrapped Sophia up completely, giving her no chance to escape.
Sophia could only let him kiss her.
Sophia clearly felt Benjamin's lips change from slightly cool to burning hot, as if he wanted to melt her.
Benjamin's usually calm eyes were also tinged with desire.
After who knows how long, Benjamin finally ended the kiss and let Sophia go.
Sophia panted in small breaths, lying in his arms, her eyes sparkling, looking more charming and attractive.
Her lips had a layer of moisture, looking as red and delicate as ripe cherries, tempting to be picked.
That look was as seductive as could be.
Benjamin held her, trying hard to control his surging desire.
Sophia struggled a bit, wanting to get out of Benjamin's arms, but he held her even tighter.
"Don't move, unless you want something to happen here." Benjamin's dark, husky voice came from above, full of warning. Sophia immediately sensed the danger and quickly curled up in Benjamin's arms, staying still.
In the lab, it was incredibly quiet.
The two held each other, only able to hear each other's breathing and heartbeats.
The atmosphere became even more intimate.
After who knows how long, when Sophia felt her legs going numb, Benjamin finally let out a long breath.
He gripped Sophia's soft, slender waist and lifted her off his lap, then stood up from the couch.
He simply straightened his slightly wrinkled suit, looking as cold and restrained as ever.
No one would imagine that Benjamin, who now looked so proper, had been struggling to control his desire just moments ago.
Sophia laughed unkindly.
Benjamin narrowed his eyes, pretended nothing happened, took Sophia's hand, and walked out of the lab.
He drove and brought Sophia to Harvest & Hearth.
Sophia was surprised to find that the decorations here seemed a bit different from her previous visits.
Before, Harvest & Hearth's style was simple and elegant, luxurious in a low-key way.
Now, it was full of romance.
The hall was filled with colorful balloon lights, with petals scattered all over the floor.
Walking to the courtyard in the back, Sophia discovered that on the lawn by the lake, there was a huge heart made of roses.
The atmosphere was romantic and beautiful.
Just as Sophia stood there stunned, Benjamin suddenly walked over and hugged her from behind.
"Mrs. White, happy Valentine's Day."
Sophia's eyes widened in surprise.
Valentine's Day?
Today is Valentine's Day?
Seeing her confused look, Benjamin shook his head helplessly, opened his phone calendar, and held it in front of her.
"Mrs. White, such an important day, and you have no memory of it at all?"
Sophia felt a bit guilty for no reason.
She rarely celebrated holidays before. The one she remembered most was probably Christmas, when she'd receive gifts from Robert and her senior brothers.
Other holidays.
Holidays without gifts, she was too lazy to remember.
Hearing her reason, Benjamin couldn't help but laugh, not knowing how to respond for a moment.
"Mrs. White, this is our first Valentine's Day together since we got together. I hope for the rest of our lives, I can spend every Valentine's Day with you."
