Chapter 247 There Is No One Here to Show You Mercy
When she heard "free mattress," the blush on Sophia's face spread all the way to behind her ears.
She stammered, "The conditions there are nothing compared to home. Are you sure you want to come along?"
"If you can handle it, why can't I?" Benjamin shot back.
His attitude was firm, and Sophia couldn't stop him. In the end, she had no choice but to let him come along.
When they went downstairs, Preston was still in the living room.
Seeing them come down, a satisfied smile appeared on his face.
"Grandpa, Sophia and I won't be staying home for the next few days. You rest well, and remember to call me if anything comes up." Benjamin stood before Preston, holding Sophia's hand tightly.
Preston laughed heartily and waved them off. "You two go ahead. What could possibly happen to me?"
After saying goodbye to Preston, they drove off.
Before heading to the lab, Benjamin took Sophia to the White Group first.
"I need to pick up a document from the office. Do you want to wait in the car?"
More than ten minutes later, the car stopped in front of the White Group. Benjamin asked while unbuckling his seatbelt.
"I'll come down with you." Sophia opened the door and got out, following Benjamin into the company.
At that moment, a fragile-looking woman was standing at the reception desk on the first floor of the White Group.
She had a thin frame and looked pitiful. Even with delicate makeup on her face, it couldn't hide the sickly pallor beneath.
"I really do know Mr. White. Please just let me in." The woman held a gift box in her arms, her brow furrowed tightly in a way that made people want to feel sorry for her.
The receptionist maintained her smile and said, "Miss, I'm truly sorry, but our company has rules. People without appointments absolutely cannot enter."
Isabella hadn't expected to be refused. She bit her lip secretly, a flash of unwillingness in her eyes.
She never imagined that even a mere receptionist would dare to bully her now.
Her grip on the gift box tightened, a hint of viciousness flashing in her eyes.
Just wait, all of you. Once she won Benjamin's favor, the first person she'd fire would be this woman who was making things difficult for her!
No matter how much the receptionist tried to persuade her, Isabella refused to leave. She had to gain Benjamin's forgiveness.
Otherwise, her plan couldn't move forward.
Being locked up at the police station had made Isabella clearly recognize the benefits of power and influence.
Looking across all of Silverlight City, only Benjamin and Matthew could be considered truly powerful and influential.
She had to seize this opportunity!
She could do this!
Isabella silently encouraged herself.
While she was lost in thought, footsteps suddenly came from outside the door.
She instinctively turned to look and saw Benjamin striding toward her with his long legs.
Benjamin was tall and imposing. His well-tailored suit made him look even more upright, and his expressionless face added an air of authority.
Isabella's heart began to race as she looked at him.
A man as outstanding as Benjamin should belong to her, Isabella!
If it weren't for Sophia, Benjamin would definitely be hers!
That shameless woman Sophia—why was she always so lucky?
She quickly adjusted her appearance and trotted over to stand in front of Benjamin, her eyes full of hope. "Benjamin, you're finally here! I finally get to see you!"
"Who are you?" Benjamin frowned slightly, his gaze shifting to Sophia behind him.
The moment Sophia saw Isabella, her brow lifted slightly.
She hadn't expected that Isabella, even after being released, still wouldn't settle down and had actually come looking for Benjamin.
Hearing Benjamin's words, the smile on Isabella's face stiffened, and her composure nearly cracked.
She said in a cloying voice, "Mr. White, don't you remember me? My father is Hayden."
"No wonder you look somewhat familiar." Benjamin stared at Isabella's face, looking thoughtful.
Seeing that Benjamin remembered her, Isabella's heart filled with excitement.
But before she could speak, Benjamin continued, "So you're the woman who tried to kill my wife and stabbed me."
Isabella's eyes widened in shock, and she hastily explained, "Mr. White, I didn't mean to. I was just impulsive. I came here specifically to apologize for that incident!"
But Benjamin was getting impatient. Couldn't this woman understand what people were saying?
Why would someone keep pushing forward even when they knew the other person disliked them?
What was the difference between her and a fly?
With a stern face, he waved at the security guards nearby. "What are you all standing around for? There's someone blocking the way here. Hurry up and throw her out!"
Several burly security guards received the order and immediately walked toward Isabella.
Isabella was instantly terrified. She frantically walked toward Benjamin, even trying to grab his clothes.
Benjamin quickly stepped back, his expression growing even colder.
Isabella's hand grasped at nothing, and her arms were seized by the guards. She began to struggle desperately.
Her gaze fell on Sophia, her eyes full of venom.
It must be Sophia's doing!
Otherwise, how could Benjamin be so cold to her?
Even though that's what she thought, she still put on a pitiful and docile appearance on the surface, looking at Benjamin with affection.
"Mr. White, please don't believe Sophia's lies. She's deceiving you. She's just jealous of me and doesn't want me to do well, so she's badmouthing me in front of you."
Benjamin waved at the guards, signaling them to stop.
His face seemed coated with a layer of ice, his narrow eyes full of coldness.
"What are you? How could you even occupy a topic when my wife and I are together?"
Benjamin's tone was full of undisguised mockery and coldness.
That one sentence was like a hard slap across Isabella's face, stinging painfully.
Isabella never imagined that Benjamin could be so heartless.
She used to think that all men in the world were the same—they were visual creatures.
They especially liked her gentle and pitiful appearance.
She had indeed used this fragile exterior to deceive many people. Back when she was in the entertainment industry, countless men had fallen at her feet.
So Isabella had always been very confident in her appearance and charm.
Until she met Benjamin.
His eyes seemed to only ever have Sophia in them, and he always put Sophia first in everything.
Isabella's mind raced with calculations, but in the end, she softened. "Mr. White, that's not what I meant. Please don't misunderstand me. I just came to apologize and hope you can accept my apology and forgive me."
Benjamin suddenly let out a cold laugh. "You almost killed my wife. Why should I accept your apology?"
Benjamin thought Isabella had some problems with her brain.
She had just stabbed him with a knife, and now she came running over asking for forgiveness, acting like she was the victim.
Who was she performing for?
There was no one here who would pity her.
