Chapter 181 Second Senior Brother
"Okay." Sophia hugged Benjamin back and promised seriously, "Actually, I came here because there's someone very important to me here."
Benjamin's eyes flickered.
Someone important?
How come he didn't know Sophia had any other important people besides him?
For some reason, Joshua's handsome face suddenly flashed through Benjamin's mind.
A sense of foreboding rose in his heart.
His eyelid twitched hard as he asked, "You mean that director?"
"How did you know?" Sophia's eyes widened in surprise as she looked up at him.
Benjamin snorted inwardly but kept his expression neutral. "Because your husband has the ability to predict the future."
Sophia was amused by Benjamin's deadpan joke and pushed his shoulder playfully. "Honey, so how did you really know?"
Benjamin looked down, met Sophia's eyes briefly, then looked away casually. "...I guessed."
When Sophia was asleep, Joshua's behavior had been obviously off.
He was too concerned about Sophia.
That wasn't the reaction a stranger or ordinary friend would have.
So Benjamin had his suspicions even then.
Though he didn't want to admit it, Sophia must have come here for Joshua.
Just then, someone knocked on the door from outside.
"Sophia, are you there?"
Joshua's voice came from outside the door.
Sophia's eyes lit up. She immediately got out of Benjamin's embrace, ready to get out of bed and open the door.
Benjamin narrowed his deep eyes, irritably ran his tongue over his back teeth, feeling a sense of crisis rising within him.
He reached out to press Sophia's shoulder and stood up. "You stay in bed. I'll get the door."
Sophia looked at Benjamin's back, confused.
Why did she feel like Benjamin was angry?
Was it just her imagination?
She slowly shook her head, pushing the thought aside, her gaze fixed on the doorway.
Benjamin opened the door, and Joshua rushed in immediately. "Sophia, how are you? Are you hurt? Let me take another good look at you."
Seeing Joshua's worried expression, warmth flooded through Sophia's heart. She smiled and waved her hand. "I'm fine, I just accidentally fell asleep."
Benjamin's chest had been so warm, giving her an indescribable sense of security that she'd dozed off without realizing it.
When she woke up, she found herself already in the hotel room.
"That's good, that's good. If something had happened to you, Matthew would never forgive me."
He wouldn't forgive himself either.
Joshua added silently in his heart.
A light cough suddenly came from behind. Joshua turned his head to see Benjamin standing behind him.
"Sophia, won't you introduce us? Who is this?" Benjamin's expression was calm, his demeanor cool, with a faint smile at the corner of his lips.
But his words carried a hint of jealousy.
Sophia immediately smiled and introduced them. "This is Joshua, my second senior brother, a very famous director in the country."
"Second senior brother, this is my husband, Benjamin." When introducing Benjamin, a blush slowly crept up Sophia's cheeks.
Her bright eyes sparkled with a radiant glow, dazzling and captivating.
"Second senior brother?" Benjamin raised an eyebrow, his lips moving as he carefully savored the title.
Finally, he couldn't help but chuckle softly.
So it was her second senior brother. He'd been overthinking.
He thought he was going to have another rival.
Joshua was also stunned.
Even though Cillian had mentioned before that Sophia and Benjamin were married, Joshua had never believed it.
His sweet and innocent Sophia was still so young—how could she be married already?
He was still single!
Joshua looked at Sophia, then at Benjamin, then leaned close to Sophia and whispered, "Sophia, why don't you reconsider? I know plenty of outstanding young men... Mr. White may be excellent, but he's not right for you."
Though he worked in entertainment, he'd heard plenty about Benjamin's reputation.
Rumor had it that Benjamin took over the White Group at eighteen, using decisive methods to save the company from crisis and winning over all the shareholders.
Since then, Benjamin had created one business legend after another.
Benjamin was an even more formidable figure than Matthew.
Matthew's achievements today couldn't be separated from Sophia's help.
But Benjamin had single-handedly not only recovered the White Group's losses but increased the company's market value tenfold.
In business circles, Benjamin was practically a legend.
Someone like that—with such methods and schemes—wasn't someone a girl like Sophia, who'd been sheltered and pampered growing up, could match.
He worried Sophia would suffer, would be wronged.
His Sophia was so innocent—he didn't want to see her hurt in any way.
Matthew really should have stopped this too.
Sophia in love could easily lose her head from impulse, and if it caused her harm later, it would be too late for regrets.
At that moment, far away in Silverlight City, Matthew was in a conference room, holding a meeting with his subordinates.
Suddenly, his nose tickled and he sneezed.
The employee presenting the PPT froze, his mind going blank for a moment, completely forgetting what he was supposed to say next.
Matthew frowned slightly, but his expression remained unchanged.
He looked up, his cold gaze sweeping over the man. "Continue."
Meeting Matthew's eyes, the man's shoulders trembled, and he immediately stammered through the rest of his presentation.
At the hotel in Vast Mountain.
Sophia took Benjamin's hand, looking up at him, her clear eyes filled with determined light. "Joshua, no one forced me. Choosing him was me following my heart and making the right choice."
Joshua laughed in exasperation. "Right? You're so young and naive—what do you know about what's right?"
"Joshua, I'm not young anymore. I'm already twenty years old. I'm old enough to get married." Sophia pouted, unhappy about being treated like a child.
Benjamin looked down at their tightly clasped hands, the corner of his lips curving up.
Sophia's unconcealed favoritism and trust warmed Benjamin's heart.
He slowly raised his eyes, his previously cold and sharp gaze now soft. "Joshua, I promise I'll treat Sophia well from now on, with complete devotion."
"You think I'll believe that? Benjamin, if I remember correctly, news about your father entering a hotel with a model made the trending topics just yesterday. And if I recall, your father once swore he'd only love your mother for his entire life."
Joshua worked in entertainment, so naturally he often heard gossip from the industry.
Besides, over twenty years ago, Magnus had been like Benjamin—a rare business genius.
He and Amelia were an enviable couple.
Just a few years later, Magnus seemed like a completely different person, giving up his inheritance rights to the White Group and living a dissolute life.
Over the years, countless women had been linked to Magnus in scandals.
With Magnus as a cautionary tale, Benjamin's current promise seemed more like a joke.
