Chapter 180 Sophia Is Her Savior
The operating room door suddenly swung open, and the doctor walked out.
Remy immediately rushed forward, grabbing the doctor's coat excitedly, eyes red as she asked, "Doctor, how is she?"
The doctor smiled reassuringly, "Ms. Rose, although Ms. Porter's injuries are serious, fortunately they were treated in time. You're very lucky - you encountered someone who's very professional and knowledgeable about medicine. Her technique was very professional, and she even helped Ms. Porter remove the dead tissue from the wound in time."
Remy's mind couldn't process it for a moment. She asked in disbelief, "Doctor... are you saying that Isolde's injury isn't serious?"
"That's not what I mean. In fact, Ms. Porter's injuries are very serious, and with several days' delay, if the wound hadn't been treated in time, she would definitely have lost the use of both legs. But fortunately, she was brought to the hospital in time."
Remy's legs went weak, and she couldn't help but step back half a step, looking somewhat dazed.
So... Sophia really did know medicine.
She had thought Sophia was just messing around before, and had even said many mocking things.
Now just thinking about those words made Remy feel ashamed.
She had wronged Sophia.
The doctor, seeing Remy's furrowed brow and pale face, thought she was worried about the patient's condition and continued, "Ms. Porter's injuries are quite severe. I recommend several months of rest, and try to minimize high-intensity work and strenuous exercise."
After giving a few more instructions, the doctor hurried off.
When Isolde woke up, the anesthesia in her legs hadn't worn off yet, and her entire lower body felt like it didn't belong to her.
She turned her head with difficulty and found Remy sleeping with her head on the edge of the bed.
Her eyelids showed signs of exhaustion, with heavy dark circles - clearly worn out from taking care of her.
Isolde pressed her lips together, feeling a twinge of guilt.
Over the years, Remy had suffered a lot following her around. She hadn't lived up to expectations and never had a chance to become famous.
Before, Remy couldn't even get paid, and had to go around looking for connections and resources to get her gigs.
Many scripts were ones Remy had begged for again and again.
She had thought that landing Joshua's production would finally change their situation.
But she never expected it would rain so heavily during filming.
She was on the mountain at the time, and the rain poured down without any warning.
She ran desperately, trying to get back to the tent, but accidentally slipped and fell straight down the cliff.
It was Joshua who saved her.
Without Joshua, she might have lost her life.
Even without hearing the diagnosis, Isolde knew very well that even if her legs weren't completely ruined, she definitely wouldn't be able to film anymore.
Acting was what she loved most in this life, and just thinking about possibly losing many opportunities in the future made her heart ache.
Her hands hidden under the covers clenched into tight fists, a flash of unwillingness in her eyes, but more than that, helplessness.
Remy suddenly opened her eyes, and seeing that Isolde was awake, immediately showed excitement.
"Isolde, you're awake? Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere? I'll go get the doctor right away." Remy quickly stood up from the chair, about to run out of the room.
"Remy." Isolde quickly grabbed her hand and weakly shook her head, "Remy, I'm fine."
Perhaps from being unconscious for so long, her voice was somewhat hoarse when she spoke.
Remy rushed over heartbroken and hugged her, "Isolde, you really scared me to death. What would I do if something happened to you!"
Isolde blinked and reached out to hug Remy back, "I'm fine, aren't I? Remy, don't be sad."
Remy sniffled and wiped the tears from her face, "Oh right, we need to thank Ms. Brown properly. The doctor said if she hadn't treated the wound on your leg in time, you would most likely have ended up disabled."
If Remy had doubted Sophia's medical skills before because of her age, now she only felt admiration.
Isolde's eyes widened in surprise, a flash of disbelief in them, but she quickly nodded in understanding.
When she chose to trust Sophia, it was partly because she had no other options, and partly because the light Sophia radiated made her instinctively trust her.
Facts proved her choice was right.
"Remy, Sophia is my lifesaver. I want to thank her properly."
"Of course, don't worry. When you're better, I'll personally visit her and thank her properly."
Hearing Remy's enthusiastic tone, Isolde couldn't help but laugh, but as she laughed, she suddenly felt a bit sad.
"Remy, Joshua's production... I'm afraid there's no chance now."
The smile on Remy's face froze for a moment, then she immediately waved her hand, "Isolde, your health is what matters most. It's okay if we missed this opportunity. Once you're recovered, we'll start over."
She gripped Isolde's hand firmly, her eyes unwavering, "Isolde, I'll always be by your side."
...
Hearing that Sophia was awake, Joshua immediately came to Sophia's room.
Sophia was currently leaning in Benjamin's arms, gazing at him affectionately.
"Sophia, you should explain to me now why you suddenly came here." Benjamin knew that Sophia had many secrets.
He didn't want to deliberately probe into them, but if it involved Sophia's safety, he had to ask clearly.
Sophia blinked, looking at him with an innocent expression, "What? I don't know what you're talking about."
Benjamin chuckled softly, not surprised by Sophia's reaction.
He lowered his eyes and leaned close to Sophia, his lips almost touching hers, and the air around them suddenly filled with an indescribable ambiguity.
"Really not considering telling me?"
Meeting Benjamin's deep gaze, Sophia suddenly felt a bit guilty.
She awkwardly touched her nose and nervously swallowed, "I, I just heard there was a disaster here, so I came to see if I could help."
Benjamin scoffed lightly, "There are so many places across the country affected by natural disasters, why did you come here specifically?"
Sophia opened her mouth, thinking he was angry about her hiding things from him, "I, I actually..."
She wanted to tell Benjamin the truth, but halfway through her words, Benjamin reached out and pulled her into his arms.
She lifted her head, wanting to see Benjamin's expression clearly.
However, a large hand suddenly pressed against the back of her head, pushing her face into Benjamin's chest.
Benjamin's deep voice came from above, carrying a hint of lingering fear and panic, "Sophia, promise me, don't come to dangerous places like this again. Even if you must come, at least bring me along. Okay?"
