Chapter 154 Harvest & Hearth
Chase hesitated for a moment and said, "Mr. White, although you really didn't do well enough, there'll still be chances in the future."
Benjamin slowly looked up, his bottomless eyes narrowing slightly like an abyss, a hint of killing intent flashing in their depths.
Chase's scalp tingled, and he said awkwardly, "Those were your own words, I was just repeating them!"
Benjamin withdrew his gaze, closed the documents in front of him, picked up the suit jacket draped over his chair, and walked toward the door.
"Mr. White, where are you going?" Chase followed behind him and asked.
"Maple Grove Villas, to apologize."
After arriving at Maple Grove Villas, Benjamin knocked on Matthew's door.
This time, it was still a maid who answered the door.
From her, Benjamin learned that Sophia had woken up, and his heart immediately filled with joy.
"Can I go in and see her?" Benjamin looked hopeful, his deep eyes full of burning light.
"Well..." The maid looked hesitant.
Chase immediately introduced him: "Do you know who our Mr. White is? Mr. White is Ms. Brown's husband. They're legally married, you have no right to stop us from seeing Ms. Brown!"
"So you're..." The maid looked Benjamin up and down, showing a look of sudden understanding.
Just as Chase breathed a sigh of relief, the maid snorted coldly and slammed the door shut. "Mr. Moore said if anyone claiming to be Ms. Brown's husband comes here, we absolutely cannot let you in."
Benjamin: "..."
Chase: "..."
The two men, shut out at the door, looked at each other, Benjamin's eyes full of helplessness.
Looking at the tightly closed door, Benjamin suddenly felt a sense of powerlessness in his heart.
"Mr. White, it's getting late, why don't you go get something to eat first?"
Chase had been standing at the door with Benjamin for a long time. As the sky gradually darkened and lights came on in the villa, they still hadn't seen any sign of Sophia.
Benjamin stood in front of the door, his figure straight, his eyes unblinking, staring intently at the villa, as if trying to see through the thick walls to the person inside.
"Call the person in charge at Harvest & Hearth and have them prepare some of Sophia's favorite dishes. Remember, nothing too greasy."
Chase nodded and picked up his phone to make the call.
Harvest & Hearth was a restaurant brand under the White Group, and also the leading restaurant chain in all of Silverlight City.
Many people couldn't become customers of this restaurant even with money, and reservations were already booked three months out.
However, since they owned the restaurant, they could naturally eat there whenever they wanted.
Soon, people from Harvest & Hearth arrived carrying insulated food containers.
There were about five or six people, each holding an insulated container. After getting out of the car, they walked respectfully up to Benjamin. "Mr. White, the food you ordered is here."
"Good." Benjamin glanced indifferently at the containers, then rang the doorbell.
After a while, the maid came out from inside, looking helpless. "Why are you still here? Mr. Moore said not to let you in, please leave."
Benjamin pointed to the people behind him, his voice cold: "I won't go in, let them go in. I've prepared some of Sophia's favorite dishes for her."
The maid looked in the direction Benjamin was pointing, her eyes widening in surprise.
Was she seeing this right? It was actually from Harvest & Hearth.
Harvest & Hearth's food was hard to get even with money. In the past, whenever Sophia wanted to eat there, she had to have someone make a reservation in advance.
She didn't expect that Benjamin could actually have Harvest & Hearth deliver food to the door.
This... probably no one else in all of Silverlight City had this kind of treatment, right?
The maid didn't know what to decide for a moment. After hesitating, she slowly nodded. "Then you can come in. Ms. Brown hasn't eaten anything all day, she's probably hungry by now."
Hearing this, Benjamin's face showed a worried expression.
He wanted to ask more about Sophia, but in the end he swallowed those words back.
The people from Harvest & Hearth didn't know what had happened and felt a bit awkward.
"Then... Mr. White, we'll go in first."
Benjamin nodded, watching helplessly as they all walked in while he could only watch.
Chase stood behind Benjamin, looking at his back, suddenly noticing a sense of loneliness and desolation about him.
But there seemed to be nothing he could do.
Upstairs, Sophia got out of bed and paced back and forth in the room.
Following Matthew's instructions, the maid wouldn't let her step out of the room at all. After lying down for so long, she felt stiff all over.
If she didn't move around, her limbs would become completely rigid.
Just then, there was a slight sound outside the door.
The next second, the maid walked in from outside, followed by five or six people.
"Ms. Brown, are you hungry? This is food from Harvest & Hearth. Please eat something, otherwise Mr. Moore will worry about you."
"Harvest & Hearth?"
Sophia raised her eyebrows in surprise, looking at the people behind the maid. "Did Matthew ask them to come?"
"No, it was Mr. White..." The maid pointed toward the window and said honestly, "Mr. White has been waiting outside for a long time, but Mr. Moore won't let him come in to see you."
"He's here? I'll go out to see him."
Sophia's eyes lit up, and she walked toward the door without a second thought.
The maid's eyelids jumped, and she immediately blocked her way. "Ms. Brown, please don't make things difficult for us. If Mr. Moore comes back and finds out you went out to see Mr. White, he'll definitely dock our pay."
Sophia stopped in her tracks, sighed helplessly, and sat down on the edge of the bed, puffing her cheeks in frustration.
"Ms. Brown, would you like to see if there's anything you'd like to eat?"
"I won't eat, I'm already full from being angry!"
"Ms. Brown... please eat something, won't you? Otherwise both Mr. Moore and Mr. White will worry about you."
Sophia's puffed cheeks instantly deflated like a balloon losing air.
She looked at the food and finally compromised helplessly. "What food is there?"
The Harvest & Hearth staff immediately opened the food containers and walked up to Sophia to introduce each dish.
They were all Sophia's favorite dishes, and they were on the lighter side too.
Looking at the food, Sophia felt a warmth in her heart.
She wasn't hungry at all, but still randomly picked a bowl of soup and took a few sips.
She already had little appetite, and even her favorite soup now became hard to swallow.
She listlessly put down her spoon and pushed it away. "I'm done, I'm full."
The staff looked at each other helplessly and said, "Mrs. White, Mr. White asked me to make sure you finish it. Won't you drink a bit more?"
"I can't drink anymore!" Sophia's face was written all over with refusal.
The staff had no choice but to pack up and leave.
Benjamin was still waiting outside. Seeing them come out so quickly, his brow furrowed.
"What happened? She didn't eat?"
