Chapter 152:Pack Up and Leave

Chapter 153 Is She Angry With Me

Benjamin lowered his eyes in disappointment, still unwilling to give up. "Can I go in and take a look? Just one glance."

"Sorry, that's not my decision to make. Sir, please leave."

With that, the servant closed the villa's front door.

Benjamin peered through the ornate gate, looking inside.

Sophia, are you okay?

I miss you so much.

At that moment, in a room on the villa's second floor, a girl who had been unconscious for a long time trembled her long lashes and slowly opened her eyes.

A servant walked in carrying water and discovered that Sophia had woken up.

"Ms. Brown! You're finally awake! How do you feel? Are you uncomfortable anywhere?"

Sophia struggled to sit up in bed, still very weak.

She slowly shook her head, her voice hoarse and weak. "I'm fine. How did I end up here?"

She remembered being at the White Manor before she passed out.

Before losing consciousness, she vaguely heard someone calling her name.

She couldn't remember what happened after that.

Sophia drew her legs up, leaned against the headboard, and rubbed her slightly aching head.

The servant answered honestly, "Ms. Brown, you fainted. Mr. Moore carried you back. You've been unconscious for almost four days."

That long?

Sophia was secretly shocked and threw off the covers to get out of bed.

Perhaps from lying down too long, her legs suddenly gave way as she got up.

"Ms. Brown!" The servant reacted quickly and caught Sophia, preventing her from falling to the floor.

"I'm fine." Sophia waved her hand with a smile and asked, "When will Matthew be back?"

"At this time, Mr. Moore should have already left work. He must be delayed by something. You rest well, I'll call Mr. Moore right away."

Matthew, who was just about to leave the office, had just gotten into his car when his phone rang.

"She's awake? I'll be right back!"

Matthew's tense expression eased slightly. After hanging up, he immediately ordered Oscar in the driver's seat, "Back to Maple Grove Villas."

Soon, the car stopped in front of Maple Grove Villas. Oscar looked out the window and said, "Mr. Moore, that person outside looks like Benjamin."

Hearing this, Matthew turned to look out the car window, his expression instantly turning cold.

"He has the nerve to show up here!"

Benjamin was leaning against the wall, looking dejected.

Hearing the sound behind him, he turned his head and saw a black Maybach slowly approaching. The window rolled down, revealing Matthew's handsome face.

"Mr. Moore."

Benjamin stood up, casually straightened his slightly wrinkled clothes, and walked over to Matthew.

Matthew's face was cold, showing no kindness. "When did Benjamin become so free? Actually has time to play security guard at my door."

Benjamin's face darkened. He cleared his throat and explained, "I came to see Sophia."

"I told you, until you deal with those people in your family, I won't let Sophia go back with you."

Benjamin said, "I just want to see Sophia once. As long as I know she's safe, I'll leave immediately. Also, Amelia and Magnolia have been dealt with. They won't bring any more trouble to Sophia."

"Benjamin, I really don't know what Sophia sees in you." Matthew laughed sarcastically and told Oscar to keep driving.

Benjamin stepped forward, blocking his way. "I want to see Sophia."

"Sophia doesn't want to see you right now."

With that, Matthew closed the car window and drove the car into the villa.

Benjamin had no choice but to wait outside. He stood outside for a long time until his feet went numb.

Benjamin stood like a stone statue, expressionless, staring at the villa courtyard, silently hoping to see Sophia come out.

Unfortunately, she didn't appear all night.

When Matthew got home, he immediately went to Sophia's room.

Although Sophia had woken up, her body was extremely weak. Her usually fair and rosy cheeks now had an unhealthy pallor.

"Sophia, you're finally awake. How do you feel? Are you uncomfortable anywhere?" Matthew examined her body again.

After confirming that this episode of poisoning had completely passed, he slowly breathed a sigh of relief.

"I'm fine now. Thank you for your concern."

"Why are you being so formal with me?" Matthew frowned disapprovingly and lightly tapped her forehead with his knuckle.

Sophia winced in pain, covered her forehead, and glared at him accusingly. "Matthew, I'm still a patient! Be gentler."

"You're just asking for it! You clearly knew those herbs were your lifesaving medicine, but you still gave them to Benjamin. What were you thinking?"

Sophia suddenly felt guilty and lowered her eyes, not daring to look into Matthew's eyes.

She quietly protested, "I know what I'm doing. I don't regret it."

Matthew was instantly furious. No one's life was more important than hers.

Why couldn't she understand that?

"Now that you're awake, rest well first. If you're hungry, just ask the kitchen to make you something you like."

"Matthew, how is Benjamin? Is the poison cured? I want to go back to the White Manor tomorrow."

"He's doing great! You don't need to worry! You personally made the antidote, you should worry about yourself instead."

Sophia's anxious heart relaxed a bit, and a faint smile appeared on her lips. "That's good."

She lay in bed, holding a bowl of porridge and eating it in small bites, completely unaware that someone was waiting for her outside at that very moment.

Having slept for several days, she had just woken up and had no appetite. Sophia only ate half a small bowl of porridge before she couldn't eat anymore.

She placed the bowl on the bedside table and drifted off to sleep in a daze.

Early the next morning, Benjamin rubbed his sore neck and closed his laptop.

Through the car window, he glanced at the villa again. Still not seeing the person he wanted to see, he left in disappointment.

At work, Benjamin was distracted the whole time.

All he could think about was Sophia.

He didn't know how Sophia was doing now, whether her health had improved.

Chase talked at length for quite a while but got no response from Benjamin.

He looked up from his documents and saw Benjamin sitting at his desk in a daze.

This was a first!

Their workaholic Benjamin was actually having trouble concentrating at work one day—this was truly a wonder!

"Mr. White, are you still worried about Mrs. White?" Chase asked boldly.

Benjamin collected his thoughts, his brow furrowed tightly. Having not slept all night, his handsome face was full of fatigue, with two faint dark circles under his eyes.

"Do you think... has Sophia woken up yet? Is she angry with me? At first, I didn't take Amelia and Magnolia seriously at all. I thought they couldn't cause any real trouble."

"But Sophia is different. She's so fragile. Being mocked, humiliated, and hurt by them again and again, she must feel terrible inside. It's all my fault."

Benjamin covered his face with both hands, his eyes full of guilt.
