Chapter 108 Belt
Sophia smiled and wrapped her arms around Benjamin's neck, planting a kiss on his cheek.
"Honey, I'm heading out now. Don't miss me too much."
"Wait." Benjamin grabbed Sophia's hand.
Sophia turned her head curiously, her eyes full of confusion.
"Take this. Buy whatever you want, don't worry about the money."
Benjamin pulled out a black card from his pocket and held it out to Sophia.
"I have my own money, and besides, Alaric paid me yesterday." Sophia's lips curved into a mischievous smile as she quickly hopped out of the car.
Benjamin's card went unaccepted, so he had no choice but to put it back in his pocket.
He leaned back in his seat, watching Sophia's retreating figure thoughtfully.
After a long while, Benjamin slowly pulled out his phone, opened a forum, and posted a question: What do I do if my wife won't spend my money?
This was a method Chase had taught him—when you encounter relationship problems you don't understand, post online for help.
Looking at the posted question, Benjamin shook his head helplessly.
When did he become so childish?
He turned off his phone and drove to the company.
On the other side, Hannah was waiting at the mall entrance.
When she spotted Sophia, she quickly waved her hand.
"Sophia, over here!"
"Sorry, I'm late."
"No worries, I just got here too." Hannah smiled carelessly.
She grabbed Sophia's hand and headed into the mall.
"Let me tell you, there's a really good dessert shop here. I'll take you there."
Everyone in the lab knew that Sophia loved sweets.
Although Hannah usually found Sophia annoying, the whole point of going out was to have fun.
She could temporarily set aside those so-called grudges.
Sophia paused, not particularly fond of physical contact with others.
But seeing Hannah's excited expression, she didn't want to spoil her mood.
The mall they came to was owned by the White Group and was one of the largest malls in all of Silverlight City.
Hannah pulled Sophia around inside, and the two bought quite a few desserts and small gifts.
Soon, both of them were carrying bags full of purchases.
"Alaric's birthday is coming up, I need to buy him some gifts." Hannah suddenly stopped in front of a clothing store.
"You remember that clearly?" Sophia raised an eyebrow, unable to resist teasing.
"Of course! I admit I might not be Alaric's type, but I'm definitely a qualified pursuer!"
Hannah huffed and quickly walked into the store.
The sales clerk came out to greet them when she saw customers arriving.
Hannah went straight to the men's section and started browsing carefully.
Alaric didn't really like wearing suits—most of his clothes were casual wear.
"Isn't giving clothes too intimate?" Hannah asked hesitantly.
Sophia looked blank.
She'd never really picked out gifts for anyone before.
In the past, when her master and senior brothers had birthdays, she would just casually give them a few bottles of precious medicine.
Because they said there was no more valuable gift than a long and healthy life.
It wasn't until she came down from the mountain that Sophia learned birthdays were supposed to have a sense of ceremony.
And gifts couldn't be given casually.
Otherwise it seemed too perfunctory.
Thinking of this, Sophia covered her mouth and coughed lightly. "Actually, I think giving clothes is fine. You can look around more before deciding."
"So do you think I should give cufflinks or a tie?"
Sophia: "..."
Is there... any difference?
Sophia was called gifted in many areas, but picking gifts really wasn't her strong suit.
She couldn't help feeling a bit troubled.
Her gaze fell on something, and Sophia suddenly had a flash of inspiration.
"What do you think of this belt?"
Sophia reached out and picked up an exquisite black leather belt, her eyes lighting up.
This belt was very finely crafted and felt nice to the touch.
Most importantly, the moment Sophia saw it, she'd already imagined what Benjamin would look like wearing it.
That restrained, cold face, paired with this low-key yet mysterious belt, would make him look even more aloof.
Hannah was silent for a while, but ultimately decided to choose the cufflinks.
Expensive yet not inappropriate.
That's the one.
"It's just that the price seems a bit steep."
When checking out, Hannah saw the price of the cufflinks and immediately hesitated.
"Miss, all the clothing and accessories in our store are luxury brands. The cufflinks you're holding are a limited global edition—there are only two pieces in all of Silverlight City."
Hannah bit her lip hard. "I'll buy it!"
She pulled out her bank card from her pocket and handed it to the clerk.
The clerk smiled and reached out to take it.
"Wait, let me think about it again!"
Just as the clerk was about to touch the bank card, Hannah suddenly pulled her hand back.
Sophia watched quietly from the side, finding it rather amusing.
"If you haven't decided yet, should we go check out the women's section first?"
"Yes!"
Hannah agreed without hesitation.
The two walked to the women's section, planning to pick out a few outfits.
"Sophia, what do you think of me in this dress?"
Hannah excitedly picked up a pink dress and walked over to Sophia.
Sophia glanced over and shook her head helplessly. "This color doesn't suit you."
Hannah's skin tone was on the darker side—she probably couldn't pull off this fluorescent pink.
"Okay, I don't think it's quite right either. But I like the style of this dress." Hannah reluctantly put the dress back.
Watching her walk away, Sophia chuckled softly.
Setting aside their past conflicts, she actually found Hannah quite endearing.
In the end, they each picked out two dresses and prepared to go to the front desk to check out.
However, before they could leave the women's section, they heard a sharp, mocking voice.
"Well, well, who do we have here."
Sophia stopped in her tracks and instinctively turned to look.
Celestia stood with her arms crossed, slowly walking in.
She raised her chin, eyes slightly narrowed, full of disdain and mockery.
Behind her stood three other girls around the same age.
"Sophia, you actually have the nerve to come to a high-end luxury brand store?"
"If even you dare to come, why wouldn't I?" Sophia looked calmly at the newcomer.
She hadn't expected to run into Celestia here.
"If it weren't for the White Family, you probably wouldn't even qualify to enter this store." Celestia's lips curved in a mocking smile.
"And if it weren't for my husband, what would you be?" Sophia shot back without hesitation.
Although the White Family was large and powerful, without Benjamin's dedicated management, it definitely wouldn't have stood strong in Silverlight City for so many years.
The White Family's branches enjoyed the benefits Benjamin brought, but never knew to be grateful.
Celestia's face instantly flushed red with anger, her eyes full of rage as she looked at Sophia.
How dare Sophia talk back?
"Benjamin is my cousin. What right do you have to talk to me like that? Do you believe I can make Benjamin divorce you?"
"No, I don't." Sophia's red lips curved slightly, her eyes calm.
