Chapter 106 Is It the Lumina Group She Thinks Of?
"Tomorrow is the weekend. Can I invite you to go shopping at the mall?" Hannah fidgeted nervously, a hint of anxiety flashing in her eyes.
Sophia looked surprised and asked in confusion, "Why would you suddenly ask me to go shopping?"
She felt Hannah was acting strange today.
Usually when Hannah saw her, she would avoid her if possible.
But today, she kept approaching her on her own.
"I just want to get closer to you. You can tell I like Alaric, right? He treats you so well, so you should be able to put in a good word for me with him?"
Sophia suddenly understood.
So that was Hannah's goal?
She shook her head helplessly and explained in a low voice, "It's not that I won't help you, but Alaric doesn't have those kinds of feelings for you at all."
Preston had advised Alaric many times to find a girlfriend soon.
But Alaric still did things his own way.
His eyes only had room for medical research, nothing else.
"But, but I'm not willing to give up! I've liked him since high school. To get into the same university as him, I worked my way up from being a poor student to where I am now." Hannah pouted, her tone full of grievance.
Sophia's eyes widened in surprise.
She didn't expect there was such a history between Hannah and Alaric.
"Just help me out. You don't need to do anything special, just say good things about me in front of him. I believe one day I'll win him over." Hannah grabbed Sophia's sleeve, acting all sweet and pleading.
Sophia immediately felt goosebumps all over her body.
She sighed helplessly and said, "I can say good things about you, but I'll only tell the truth. Your possessiveness toward Alaric is too strong. If you keep this up, Alaric will only distance himself from you more."
"Then what should I do?"
Hannah panicked immediately.
She admitted that her possessiveness toward Alaric had exceeded what normal people could accept.
She had deliberately targeted Sophia before because she worried Alaric might develop feelings for her.
"I may not understand love, but I know that two people need balance in their relationship. The more you try to control him, the more he'll want to escape. Haven't you noticed that Alaric has been avoiding you?"
Sophia wasn't saying this because she felt sorry for Hannah, but because if things continued like this, Alaric probably wouldn't be able to take it anymore.
Although Alaric had a gentle temperament, he definitely wasn't someone who could be controlled.
"Alaric has been raised since childhood to be the future head of the White Family. His gentle and polite manner with people is a deeply ingrained upbringing, but it doesn't mean he likes being controlled." Sophia reminded her in a low voice.
"Then what should I do?" Hannah frowned, looking at Sophia pitifully.
Sophia slowly shook her head. "I don't know. This is all I can tell you. As for whether you two can end up together, that depends on your fate."
Sophia didn't want to interfere too much in other people's love lives.
What she said today was both a reminder and a warning.
Hannah lowered her eyes and began seriously thinking about Sophia's words.
As they talked, the two had already reached the school gate.
Hannah took a deep breath and said gloomily, "Forget it, I won't think about it anymore! Let's go get something to eat first!"
Looking at her sulky expression, Sophia couldn't help but laugh.
"Look, there's a luxury car at the gate!"
At that moment, Hannah suddenly grabbed her sleeve excitedly, her eyes sparkling.
"That car just stopped at the school gate. Someone must be here to pick someone up. I wonder who's so lucky..." Hannah's eyes were full of envy.
Sophia looked carefully and froze.
Just as Sophia was thinking about whether to slip away, the car door was opened from inside.
A man in a black suit with an upright posture slowly walked over.
"Look, look! Is he walking toward us?"
Hannah's voice was full of excitement. If it weren't for all the students around, she would definitely have screamed out loud.
Sophia: "..."
Sophia lowered her eyes, her gaze pausing for a moment on the hand pulling at her clothes, then she rubbed her forehead helplessly.
It's not the enemy you should fear, but the useless teammate.
With Hannah holding onto her, it was hard for her to escape.
Sophia smiled and watched as the man slowly approached and stopped in front of her.
The man bowed respectfully, his tone sincere. "Ms. Brown."
Oscar's behavior attracted quite a few onlookers around them.
Many people stopped and turned their attention to Sophia.
Their eyes were full of curiosity and gossip.
Even Hannah beside her was stunned, her eyes full of shock.
Sophia forced a faint smile. "Oscar, you don't need to be so formal. Is there something you need? Is Matthew here too?"
Oscar spoke respectfully, "Mr. Moore is discussing a partnership with a business partner, so he sent me ahead."
Good, she successfully dodged a bullet.
Sophia slowly breathed a sigh of relief.
"Oscar, is there something you need?"
Oscar was Matthew's assistant. He had followed Matthew for many years, had excellent work abilities, and was highly valued by Matthew.
Oscar quickly took out a phone and a black wallet from his pocket and handed them to Sophia.
"Mr. Moore said that Ms. Brown left without bringing anything, and he was worried you might face difficulties outside, so he specifically asked me to bring you your phone and wallet."
Sophia glanced at them lightly.
The phone was the one she had used before being brought back to the Brown Family.
The wallet was a light purple folding style, looking quite bulky. It probably contained several supplementary cards and cash.
Sophia helplessly took the phone and returned the wallet to Oscar.
"Tell Matthew that I'm doing fine at the White Family. I don't need the money."
"Ms. Brown, please don't make this difficult for me. If you don't take the wallet, I won't be able to report back to Mr. Moore." Oscar's attitude was firm.
Sophia sighed helplessly and had to accept the wallet.
She opened the wallet and took a look. There were five cards inside.
One was Matthew's unlimited supplementary card, one was a black card valid at high-end brands in major shopping malls worldwide, and one was a special card for monthly dividend deposits from the Lumina Group.
The other two were Sophia's bank cards.
Any one of these cards would be enough to shock people if taken out alone.
However, Sophia didn't care at all and just tossed it into her bag.
Hannah stared with wide eyes in shock.
She swallowed quietly and asked in a small voice, "Um... who is Mr. Moore?"
Wasn't Sophia from the countryside?
How could she know such an important person?
Only then did Oscar turn his attention to Hannah.
He smiled and explained, "Our Mr. Moore is the founder and CEO of the Lumina Group, Matthew."
Hannah immediately gasped and nearly fainted.
The Lumina Group?
Was it the Lumina Group she was thinking of?
Was it the Lumina Group that had successfully taken over half of Silverlight City in just a few years and was on par with the White Group?
Oscar seemed to guess what Hannah was thinking and explained with a smile, "Yes, it's the Lumina Group you're thinking of."
