Chapter 71 Kidnapped
Audrey tried to fight again as they dragged her body towards a black car parked not far from there. However, her energy was completely depleted. Her body could only struggle weakly as the two men opened the car door and forced her inside.
“Let me go! Haaalp!” Audrey screamed, though her voice was starting to weaken, and was immediately muffled by the man holding her.
Henry stepped closer, standing next to the car door while looking at Audrey, who was sitting weakly in the back seat. "You have no choice, Audrey. Just accept reality."
Without waiting for an answer, Henry signaled the men to close the door. The sound of the car door closing sounded like the end of her life for Audrey.
Inside the car, which sped away from her boarding house location, Audrey's tears flowed uncontrollably. In her heart, she could only hope that someone would come to save her before it was too late.
The journey felt like an endless nightmare for Audrey. Darkness enveloped her vision, her eyes tightly covered by a cloth tied by one of the large men earlier. She did not know how long they had been driving. Every time the car went over a bump or a sharp turn, her body was helplessly thrown about.
Audrey took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, but it felt almost impossible. Her heart continued to pound, and bad thoughts rushed in relentlessly.
What were they going to do to her? How could she get out of this situation?
In the darkness, Audrey bit her lip to stifle a sob. The only thing she could do was pray, hoping for a miracle to come, in whatever form, so that she could be free from Henry's grip.
The sudden image of Elliot appearing in her mind only made her feel more constricted.
After what seemed like an eternity, the car finally stopped. Audrey held her breath when she heard the sound of a door opening, followed by heavy footsteps approaching her.
"Get out!" The man's rough voice startled Audrey from her daydream. She was pulled out roughly, causing her body to nearly fall as she exited the car.
"Don't try to fight again," the man threatened while gripping her arm tightly.
Audrey tried to endure the pain in her arm, but she still didn't give up. "Let me go!"
The man only laughed coldly and dragged her further, their footsteps echoing on the floor that felt like concrete. Several times Audrey heard doors opening and closing, adding to her sense of unfamiliarity and fear.
Finally, they stopped. Audrey felt herself being pushed roughly, until her body fell onto the cold floor. The pain in her knees and hands touching the rough surface made her wince.
The sound of footsteps approached, then Audrey felt someone untie the bonds on her hands. Not long after, the cloth covering her eyes was removed, making the dim light overwhelm her vision.
Blinking her eyes, Audrey looked up. The first thing she saw was Henry's face, full of a satisfied smile.
"You must feel very confused now, huh?" the man asked in a mocking tone.
Audrey stared at him sharply. "What are you doing, Henry? What exactly do you want from me?!"
"Wow, look at how rude you are, calling your father only by his name." Henry chuckled, seeing Audrey who looked both emotional and terrified. "I told you, I just want you to meet my friend. You're here because he wants to talk to you."
"If it's just talk, why did you have to bring me like this?!" Audrey shouted, her eyes full of anger. "This is kidnapping!"
"Kidnapping?" Henry laughed softly. "Don't be dramatic, Audrey. I told you not to do anything stupid, and you were too stubborn to follow my orders. So, don't blame me if I have to get a little creative."
Audrey gritted her teeth, her body trembling with anger. "You will regret doing this. I swear!"
"Oh, but I won't regret it one bit," Henry replied casually while walking closer. "All you have to do now is sit nicely and wait. My friend will be here in a few hours."
"And what am I supposed to do during that time?!" Audrey asked cynically, although her voice was shaking.
"Just be quiet. Enjoy your time," Henry said sarcastically, before turning towards the door. "I'll be back later. Don't try to escape because this place has no way out, and I'm sure you don't want to make my friend angry."
Audrey did not answer. She only stared at Henry's back with hatred as the man left the room, leaving her alone.
As soon as the door closed, Audrey sat on the cold floor, trying to regulate her breathing. Her eyes looked around, trying to find clues as to where she was. The room was almost empty, there was only a small table in the corner with a dim lamp on it.
Audrey's hands trembled as she touched her injured knees, but more than that, her chaotic mind made her feel even weaker.
Slowly, Audrey hugged her bent knees, hoping to give herself some comfort. Unfortunately, her tears flowed even faster, and her sobs grew stronger. Suddenly, she felt exhausted.
