Chapter 25 Silly girl

This time, taking medicine for Caroline was particularly quick and without any hesitation. Maybe it's because she's happy, so everything is so beautiful. Watching Caroline lie back on the bed, Nicholas finally felt relieved. He walked out of the bedroom and began to prepare what Caroline needed for the next day before quietly returning to the bedroom.

Seeing her slightly furrowed brow, Nicholas knew that this girl must have something on her mind, but he wasn't sure exactly what it was. He could only wait for her to give him a conclusion herself.

"Goodnight, silly girl."

And with that, they both entered dreamland. Because of what happened during the day, Caroline had been sleeping restlessly all night long. Nicholas could only gently comfort her with one hand by his side.

In the morning when Caroline finally fell asleep soundly again, Nicholas got ready to go to work despite the dark circles under his eyes. Looking at himself in the mirror made him wonder whether he should cry or laugh.

Before leaving home for work though, Nicholas went into their bedroom and looked at the little woman lying in bed once more.

"Rest well and wait for me obediently at home."

Although he knew that Caroline couldn't hear him anymore at this point, Nicholas still spoke these words very tenderly:

"Good morning Mr. Nicholas!"

As soon as he arrived at work though many people stared at him due to the dark circles under his eyes; everyone was curious but didn't dare say anything about them aloud.

"Did you see? The CEO has such heavy dark circles! Did he not sleep all night?"

There were always some gossiping colleagues discussing things about Nicholas behind his back like this but unfortunately, they were overheard by James who had a black face upon hearing them speak ill of their boss. Everyone quickly returned to their own workstations.

"If I hear anyone talking about the CEO again, I won't hesitate to fire you. Do you understand? Go do your own work and if I hear any more rumors, be prepared for the consequences.

James is a person who keeps his promises. This time, he was just giving a warning, but next time he might actually take action.

Seeing that everyone had gone quiet, James returned to his workstation. He suddenly remembered something very important when he saw Nicholas in the office.

"Mr. Nicholas, if I remember correctly, we need to meet a client today. This is the most important thing today."

James also noticed that Caroline did not come to work today, and there must be something important happening. Since that was the case, they should quickly finish all the work and let their CEO go home.

"Okay, I know. When the time comes, remind me. Oh, and can you prepare some fever-reducing medicine and candy for me? Just prepare and put them in my car."

After hearing Nicholas's request, James understood. It turned out that Caroline had a fever, and their big boss had been taking care of her all night. No wonder he had such heavy dark circles.

"Uh, Mr. Nicholas, I have some concealer. Do you want to try it? Your dark circles are really serious."

Nicholas did not expect James to tease him like this, and felt a little annoyed. However, he picked up his phone and looked at his face. It seemed that he really needed to cover it up, or he would be mistaken for a panda by others.

James walked out of the office, feeling smug. This was the first time he had seen their big boss so embarrassed and amused in such a long time.

After preparing everything as requested, James took out the eye cream he didn't want to use and knocked on the door of the CEO's office.

"Boss, this works great. You can try it now. I have booked a restaurant for us. We can leave at 11 o'clock on the dot. The car is also ready."

After listening to this, Nicholas nodded in satisfaction and gestured for James to leave. Looking at the eye cream on his desk, Nicholas smiled. He had never used these things before for such a long time, but he did so this time.

Feeling a little helpless but thinking of Caroline, Nicholas also felt a little anxious.

Meanwhile, Caroline, who had already recovered from her fever, had woken up. She looked at the empty space beside her, feeling a little lost. But when she looked carefully, she saw the things on the dining table and couldn't help laughing.

"I know you have no appetite when you wake up, so I made you some porridge. Heat it up in the microwave. Remember to take your medicine on time. I also prepared some candy for you."
