Chapter 60
Evelyn stretched and tried not to smile when she felt the warm body next to hers.
It had been inevitable. She should have realised that the first day she had come to the door to collect her car. Her love for Roman had refused to be hidden any longer the moment he had opened the door.
It was her feelings of guilt and shame she had to battle with. She had put herself right back into the situation she had tried so hard to put behind her as if despite everything just because she couldn’t resist him.
“Good morning, Evelyn.”
His warm breath tickled her ear as Roman pulled her closer against him. And she decided at that moment to leave her shame and guilt for another time. She had craved his touch for far too long, craved to feel him next to her in her bed, to hear that voice say her name. She would go through all of it again the moment Roman returned to his real life but for now... Surely she could pretend?
Her head told her she was being stupid again but she ignored it.
“Morning.”
Roman’s arms tightened around her and his lips touched her neck.
“I missed you,” he said.
His voice was low and still so full of sleep that she wondered if he was still asleep. But had he really missed her? The night he had kissed her in the car park he had admitted he’d lost sleep wondering how things had gone wrong and he wanted closure. She hadn’t wanted to examine his statements too closely because she always read too much into the things he said and broke her own heart.
People only needed closure if their feelings were involved, and that was something she couldn’t assume with Roman. But was he telling the truth? Had he wanted her back in his arms the way she’d wanted to be back with him?
“Really?”
“Of course. I wouldn’t have come to see you if I hadn’t. My lawyers could have handled the contract termination without me getting involved.”
It occurred to her that last night had been their first time together without the contract and all his rules. They were like a regular couple.
She stopped her thoughts immediately.
“I need to get up. I didn’t call my parents yesterday,” she sighed.
Roman’s arms tightened some more.
“Not yet. Please,” he said.
She could feel his length against her back as his lips started to rain little kisses on her neck. She gave in too easily because she knew the moment she spoke to her mother she wouldn’t be able to ignore the consequences of what she had done.
She pushed herself back against him to give her consent. Roman lifted himself onto his elbow and turned her face to him so he could kiss her. And as always, his kisses gave life to every part of her body. He kissed her so deeply that her toes curled as a gentle burn started in her lower body. His hand found its way to her chest and briefly played with her tits before it went lower. And after just a brief exploration with his finger, he positioned himself from behind her and entered without much preamble.
Roman lifted his lips from hers to groan against her. He’d made love to her all night but it still felt like the first time. The urgency was the same. Without any warning, his fingers gently pinched her clit and sent her over the edge. Effortlessly. He knew every single way to make her come because he had mastered her body. But he didn’t follow her. He held himself tensely while she rode the waves, and then changed his angle to start all over again.
She lost count of how many times he did this to her. Lost count of how many times her eyes rolled to the back of her head as she rode one orgasm after another. And when Roman finally rolled her onto her back and sent her to the edge again, he joined her this time. His body trembled as his cum shot into her with no barriers and he captured her lips to swallow the last of her screams.
She must have drifted off to sleep again because when she woke up the sun was so high up that it had to be almost lunchtime. She couldn’t put off calling her parents any longer. Roman was still asleep next to her so she gently extracted herself before she walked to the ensuite for a shower. He was still sleeping when she went back into the room and looked through the clothes that Phillip had bought for her. She hadn’t had much time to look through everything when Roman had given it to her, but she picked up a little dress and matching cardigan without much thought and dressed quickly.
Her phone had been in the kitchen the last time she had seen it, after lunch with Roman. He had been upset after hearing about his family so she hoped he would get any more bad news.
The first thing she did when she got into the kitchen was to put the coffee maker on. Then she searched for the TV controller and put the screen on.
What...
The crowd was bigger today. But why?
Then she remembered Pam and the bad feeling she’d had. Her hand was shaking as she picked up her phone and then searched for her name.
And there it was in black and white.
Evelyn Bright, current girlfriend of property mogul...
Who is Evelyn Bright?
Evelyn Bright: from waitress to princess...
Evelyn Bright, future Mrs. Ashfield?
Her phone clattered against the table as it fell from her fingers. They had found her.
No. Someone had betrayed her. She should have known better than to think someone she had met only a couple of months ago could keep such a secret. Pam had pushed her right under the bus.
But her parents!
She picked her phone up again and saw the numerous missed calls from her mother. There were none from her father this time. Did the reporters find them?
She pressed the call button quickly and waited to hear her mother’s voice. When there was no answer, she tried again. And again.
She went back on the search results to open story by story to see if her parents had been mentioned at all. Pam didn’t know her home situation and she didn’t think she had ever spoken about her parents to her but it was still a possibility.
She was still looking when Roman came into the kitchen. He was freshly showered and holding his phone. Had he seen the news? Had his people told him? She could only imagine the embarrassment he felt having her identity revealed as his girlfriend when he could have had someone further up the social ladder.
“I’m so sorry,” she whispered. “I know this is the last thing you need, it’s all over the internet. I don’t know how to fix this.”
Roman came forward and pulled her to her feet before he wrapped his arms around her. He had never shown such affection when she had been under his contract but now she felt the security of his strong arms as if she belonged there.
“I’ll fix it. Don’t worry, Evelyn. I’ll fix everything.”
