Chapter 54
Holy... fuck!
That was...
Evelyn shut the door in one of the spare bedrooms and leaned back against it. She pressed her thighs together and closed her eyes. She should have walked out of the bathroom but seeing him naked, touching himself was like dangling a feast in front of a starving person.
And then to have him say her name as he let go...
Roman Ashfield was a god among men, he could have anyone he wanted. But it had been her name on his lips while he'd got his rocks off. Not Vivian's.
How was she supposed to handle that? Especially now when she was plagued with all the memories of him.
How was she supposed to remember that he hadn't wanted to be seen with her in public when she was looking at that hard, chiselled chest?
How was she supposed to remember that he'd called her his whore when he had his dick in his hand? And calling her name as if all she'd needed to do was step into the shower with him to ride it to her heart's content?
How was she supposed to remember the fact that he had banned her friends from the house, isolated her so she was at his beck and call like the whore that he took her for? She should not be feeling like this for him.
Her body was on fire. Burning from the inside because it hungered for his touch.
If she gave in then she would be a terrible human being. A terrible daughter. But still, she felt how wet she was. Drenched. Like seeing him like that had opened the floodgates and she couldn't push any of it back in.
And she was stuck here with him.
Stuck with all these urges that she couldn't give in to.
There was a knock on the door and it pulled her out of her thoughts. It could only be Roman, but how was she supposed to look at him now without seeing the way he'd fisted his huge dick? Without seeing all of the fire in his eyes?
The knock came again. She couldn't put it off. She couldn't hide away because there was nowhere to hide. She took a breath and turned around to crack open the door. Roman stood there, fully dressed and his hair still damp from his shower. Everything in her clenched as the full force of her feelings hit her. How could she still feel like this?? All she wanted to do was open the door wider so she could climb up that tall, hard body and kiss him. Throw herself at him so he could give her what she wanted.
"Are you okay?" Roman asked.
Was she okay with seeing him naked? Of course not.
"Yes," she answered.
His gaze didn't leave her face so she knew he could tell she was lying.
"Open the door, Evelyn."
"I don't think that's a good idea."
Her voice sounded shaky to her ears. She cleared her throat and looked away from his probing gaze.
"I have to call work and my parents. I can't... I'll talk to you later."
"I won't take up too much of your time," Roman said.
It was a terrible idea, but she stepped away from the door and opened it wider. Roman walked in and then closed the door behind him. And even though they were alone in the house and there wasn't a bed in the room, closing the door made the situation more intimate than she wanted.
Roman then put his hands in his pockets and met her gaze.
"I'm sorry you walked in on that," he said quietly.
"We don't... We don't have to talk about it. It was my fault, I should have realised that was where you were."
"I want to talk about it," Roman said. "I don't want you to feel uncomfortable around me because we're going to be in this house for a while."
He stepped closer to her. So close she could have touched him.
"Did that make you uncomfortable, Evelyn?" He asked.
His voice was lower. Huskier. She pressed her thighs together again and Roman's gaze immediately lowered.
"I'm well aware that our agreement is over. The lawyers are bringing the paperwork this afternoon. But if you need me, Evelyn, I'm right here."
There was so much emotion in his whispered invitation.
She sucked in a breath when his gaze returned to hers. He had that same look in his eyes that he used to have every time she'd opened the door for him on Fridays.
And there was no denying that he probably saw the same in her eyes. Roman always knew what she wanted. He could read her perfectly.
"I'm not falling into bed with you again, Roman. I can't."
"Think about the situation we’ve found ourselves in. We will likely never be in the same room again when all this is over. But you can take anything you want from me. Anything. I will willingly give it to you."
She stepped back from the temptation and walked to stand by the windows. Roman was insane. There were reporters outside waiting to rip her life apart and he was taking advantage of that. She should never have come here.
When she felt the heat of his body against her back, she tensed. Instead of moving away again, she stood on the spot, waiting to see what he would do. Wanting him to do something and nothing at the same time. He didn’t touch her but somehow the anticipation felt a lot worse.
“Your body’s calling out for mine, Evelyn,” he said right by her ear. She felt the warmth of his breath and a shiver ran down her spine. “I bet you’re dripping wet right now. Tell me what you need.”
She put her hands on the window sill to steady herself. Her knees felt like they would give way any minute. His voice and his offer were like an assault on her fragile senses, offering her everything she wanted. And even though the cost was too steep she knew she was moments away from giving in.
“I won’t make any demands of you, I won’t give you any rules or contracts. You can have me however you want me. All you have to do is tell me what you need.”
He was saying the words she’d wanted to hear when she’d declared her love. Her head knew it was too late but her body moved of its own volition, closing the almost non-existent space he’d left between them. The contact short-circuited her mind.
“What do you need?” Roman whispered.
And her lips were moving before her head could work again.
“Touch me.”
Roman made a sexy sound at the back of his throat as he finally brought his arms around her and held her tightly against his body. She could feel him poking her back as if he hadn’t just shot a load all over himself.
And thinking of that again made her moan and whisper his name.
Roman’s hands were shaky when they undid the button of her jeans and lowered the zipper. His head came down to her neck just as his hand lowered between her legs. Her moan echoed in the empty room as she threw her head back against him. Her knees gave way and it was only his arm around her torso that kept her from falling flat on her face.
The master of her body. The only one who could make it hum like this without any effort. The best and worst decision of her life.
By the time his fingers started working she had already lost all sense of herself. It was like she had never left his arms.
It took moments for her body to tighten around his fingers, for the waves to crash into her so strongly she thought she would pass out. And through it all, she called his name.
When she had ridden the last wave, Roman pulled out and then set her gently back on her feet.
“Anything you want,” he whispered against her ear.
And then he pulled away from her and left the room.
She was still trying to catch her breath when she realised she had fallen right back into the trap that she’d spent months trying to get out of.
