Chapter 115
Chapter 115
Isadora pov
He just took a sip of his drink and exhaled softly like a human wasn’t sitting right in front of him and asking questions.“I can’t believe this.” I grabbed my purse and sprung off my seat.
“Wa— wait hold on.” He grabbed onto my arm, “Where do you think you’re going we’re not done talking.”
“I told you already I have limited time, you’re taking all the time in the world to speak. I’ve had a shitty day so far, I’m not about to sit here and let you ruin the rest of it for me.”
“Calm down and sit down … please.” He added.I gently took my seat, “Isadora,” he started, “I just wanted to ask you if this is something you really wanted to do, do you think this is what you really want to do?”
“ I don’t understand your question and I don’t understand what you’re asking me.”
“Look, for the past few weeks since you and Oliver got back together officially, I’ve been feeling some kind of anger at myself—“
“Whatever relationship I have with Oliver is actually none of your business, you know that right?”
“Yeah … I know —“
“Charles cut the chase.” I interrupted him once more. My heart was racing as I listened to him speak but I just had to put on this face like I wasn’t literally melting inside. I wasn’t sure what Charles was hinting at but I had an idea, he sounded like he was trying to tell me something but didn’t know how to do it ,it's either that or I was probably just being delusional.
“So you’re seriously about to finalize things with Oliver”
“Yes, yes I am, why is there any problem with that?”
“Well, no … I just wanted to dish out my opinion on everything. Besides that, I never even got an invitation.
“ if you wanted to dish out an opinion… your opinion? Well guess what? U never asked for it.” I shut him down.
“I know, but I don’t care if you asked for it or not. I don’t want to cross the line, I mean you’re completely right when you say it’s none of my business but then, don’t you think you’re moving too fast? Or are you just trying to get your mind off me so easily?”
Hearing those words slip from his lips and a smirk appeared on his face, I almost choked on my own spit, was he teasing me?! Was he teasing my mind somehow? I felt like an open book and it was very embarrassing.
I never wanted Charles to think I wanted him back even though I missed everything about him, I missed having him around and I missed being able to kiss those plump lips of his, I missed those days when he would grab me with those muscular veiny arms and kiss me all over—
“Isadora.”
“In your dreams, Charles.” I responded to him. Each time I remembered what conditions he left my father in, I just could help but feel that burning flame of anger in my heart even though judging from how things turned out, it felt like daddy deserved what got to him, in all he was my father and as his daughter the only way I could make it up to him after being the reason he had to go through all this mess is stand by his side and support him fully.
“The reason I called you out here was because I wanted closure.” He finally came clean, the smug look on his face morphed into a soft one after revealing the real reason he called me here but still, Charles wasn’t trustworthy and I wasn’t going to risk giving him the littlest hint that I was in the most vulnerable state right now, “We could have done that via email. You didn’t have to call me out here and waste my time, seriously.”
“You showed up, you have the chance to ignore me but you showed up and that means something, it means you actually wanted to see me.”
“How do you not see how wrong you are in this situation?!” I couldn’t hide my annoyance any longer. I shrieked at him and at the same time, furrowed my brows at him and he didn’t even have a single look of remorse on his face, “Do you have a Fricken heart at all ?!”
“I know you’re angry with me, there's no need for you to raise your voice.” He said to me calmly.I exhaled sharply, “Charles, I can’t believe you still had the guts to call me out here, question my decisions about my marriage and try to make me feel guilty for not wanting to give you a chance.” I spat and immediately my hand fell to cover my lips. Gosh! I can’t believe you just said that out loud. I exhaled sharply once more and brushed my hand through my face.
“I think you’ve got the wrong idea because I’m not trying to make you feel guilty for not considering giving me a chance. I’m not asking for a chance here, you’ve got the wrong idea … completely.” He said calmly and just that calm tone only added to my annoyance that afternoon.
“I have to leave.” I said to him and grabbed my purse from the table.
“We aren’t done talking—“
“Well, I’m done talking to you.” Before he could say anything else, I stormed out of the restaurant.Immediately I got to the car park as I was about to pull open the door angrily, someone called out my name and when I turned around I saw Oliver standing by his car.
“What are you doing here?”
‘Perfect timing’ I muttered to myself also wondering what he came to do at Charles’ company.
