Chapter 28 28

Chapter 28 28
Adrien's POV

“Hmm, not bad,” Christopher murmured as an attractive redhead walked past us.

We both watched her as she sauntered over to the bar. She was wearing a tight black dress, and she had a perfectly rounded ass. I scrunched my nose up in distaste. “Average.”
“She is not average.” His eyes dropped to her behind and stayed firmly fixed. “Far from it, actually.”
“Not doing it for me.” I sighed against my glass as I looked around the crowded club. It was a rarity that a woman caught my attention these days, with the exception of Little Miss Snarky. I couldn’t get enough of her . . . even if she was completely unmanageable.

Our exchange in my office on Monday ran through my mind, and I exhaled heavily.
She was so fucking difficult.
It would help if I could keep my mouth shut when I saw her. For some reason, she had me blurting out demands and grabbing her by the hair; it was as if my body took on a need of its own and completely left my brain out of the equation.
Every time Karin left my office in a huff, I kicked myself for handling her the wrong way.
I knew women; I knew how they thought, and I could usually get them to do whatever I wanted. Her . . . not so much.

Christopher licked his lips as he watched the redhead. “I’m going in.” He strode across the club and said something to her as she stood at the bar, and in slow motion, she smiled up at him.

I smirked and sipped my drink as I watched him in action. He loved women—all women. It seemed to be a family trait; we were all wired the same way.
Something had changed for me lately, though. My appetite for variety had waned. Something was off, and I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. I glanced over to Matt and Elliot as they talked to two girls in the lounge. The women were being all animated and laughing on cue at everything that came out of the boys’ mouths.

Bimbos.

I sipped my drink as I looked around the room. “Hey,” Matt said as he came to stand beside me. “Look who’s here.”
“Who?” I muttered, uninterested.
“Cream-colored dress, hair down, and looking absolutely fucking sensational.”
I frowned as I looked over to where he was gesturing.

It was her. Karin was here.

A broad smile crossed my face. “Well, well. The night just got interesting.”
Matt chuckled. “That’s if you don’t kill each other first.” He slapped me on the back. “I’m going to the bar.”
“Yeah, okay.” She was with two women I had never seen before, although they did look vaguely familiar; they might be from work. They were talking and laughing. Karin was wearing a tight cream-colored dress with long sleeves and a plunging neckline. I could see every curve on her delicious body, and my cock swelled in appreciation. Her hair was down, and she pulled it over to one side as she talked, and I saw the curve of her bare neck; my stomach clenched in excitement.

Fuck . . . she was hot.
I had never had such an intense physical reaction to a woman like this before. I just couldn’t get enough of her body. The more I had her, the more I wanted her. If only she didn’t have the snarkiest damn attitude I had ever seen.
Maybe that was the appeal?
Most women fell at my feet; she seemed determined to push me away. Hmm. That was something to think about. If the truth was known, I should stay away from her. She worked for me, she was a firecracker, and who knew what she would do if we fought again. I smirked. I already knew that we would fight again—the writing was on the wall. She had a way of pissing me off like no other.

A song came on that she obviously liked, and she started to dance on the spot. Her ass moved slowly to the tantric beat, and I stood and stared, transfixed by the goddess in front of me.
She had no idea how fucking sexy she was.

“Los Angeles sour,” Matt said as he handed me my drink.
“Thanks.” I took it from him.
“You know, the way you’re looking at her is illegal in some countries, right?”
I watched her hips roll, and I imagined them over me doing the same thing. I inhaled sharply as my arousal started to thump between my legs. “Have you ever been so physically attracted to someone that you lose the ability to think around them?”
“No. Thank fuck,” Matt replied as he watched her dance. “Although with that ass, I can imagine—”
“Don’t even fucking look at her ass, or I will sit you on yours,” I said, cutting him off.
He chuckled. “Look at you getting all territorial.” He sipped his drink as mischief filled his face. “She did want to report to me with that story, you know.”
I looked at him flatly. “And you report to me, fucker. Go near her, and you will fucking die.”
He threw his head back and laughed out loud.

A blond man walked over to her and said something, and she smiled up at him.
“Oh, look out,” Matt teased. “Competition is on the horizon.” I watched as uneasiness began to swirl.
His hands went to her thighs, and I clenched my jaw. I sipped my drink as I watched.
He said something, and she laughed out loud before he took her hand and led her to the dance floor.

Are you fucking kidding me?

Matt turned and laughed when he saw my face. “Well, this is about to get interesting.”

The blond slid his hands down to her behind, and she lifted his hands back to her waist.

I watched as the sky turned red. Get your fucking hands off her. He said something, and she laughed out loud.
I swallowed the lump in my throat.
So this was what she was here for, was it? To pick up a man. Fury began to fill me.
“Looks like your territory is about to be stolen.” Matt smirked.
“Shut the fuck up, Tris, before I knock you out,” I snapped as my eyes stayed glued to them.
The blond leaned down and kissed her neck. Something inside me snapped, and before I knew what I was doing, I was on the dance floor beside them.
“Fuck off,” I growled.
Karin turned to me, and her face instantly dropped. “Adrien,” she stammered.
My arm went around her waist, and I pulled her from his grip. “She’s here with me.”
