Chapter 87 David is not Samuel
Chapter 87 David is not Samuel
As she spoke, her gaze swept over Lily.
"Ms. Martin, why don't you come along too?" she asked with fake concern.
"No thanks. I still need to eat. You guys go ahead." After saying this, she went back to eating in big bites.
Hazel smiled with satisfaction and turned to look at David.
"Well then, Samuel, shall we go?"
David looked at Lily. She was pushing him away again, pushing him toward another woman.
Fine. Great.
Since she didn't care, he didn't need to either.
"Let's go," he said coldly, standing up.
Hazel's eyes lit up. She immediately hooked her arm through his, and the two left the restaurant together.
Lily watched their retreating figures, tears falling like broken beads on a string. She put down her utensils, unable to eat another bite.
Every word she'd just said had cut her own heart like a knife.
But she couldn't let it show.
She couldn't let David see what she was thinking.
Because they were just a contract couple.
Because he and Hazel were the real pair.
Because she was just a tool for having children...
Forget it, no point thinking about all that. She had more important things to do. Lily pulled out her phone, her fingers trembling as she messaged Olivia: [Olivia, how's it going on your end? Did you see David?]
At that moment, Olivia was standing outside the Jones Group, looking down at her maintenance worker uniform and taking a deep breath.
For Lily's sake, she was going all out!
She hoisted a ladder over her shoulder, picked up a toolbox, and swaggered into the Jones Group.
"Hi, I'm here to fix some electrical wiring," she told the receptionist.
The receptionist checked the work order and nodded. "Okay, go ahead."
Olivia successfully infiltrated the building.
She pretended to work on various floors, but her gaze remained fixed on the CEO's private elevator.
Suddenly, the elevator doors opened.
A tall figure in a black suit walked out.
Olivia's heart tightened.
Was it David?
She wanted to get closer for a better look, but the man walked quickly and had bodyguards around him. She couldn't get near.
She could only see his profile from a distance.
That build, that presence...
It really did look like David.
But the distance was too far to see his face clearly.
Olivia bit her lip and made a bold decision.
She would go to the CEO's private restroom!
She'd definitely be able to observe David up close there.
When the bodyguards weren't paying attention, she snuck onto the executive floor and found the private restroom.
The restroom was luxurious with elegant decor.
Olivia hid in a stall, pretending to fix the plumbing.
After waiting about ten minutes, she finally heard footsteps outside.
A deep male voice said, "Willie, is that document ready?"
That voice...
Olivia's heartbeat quickened.
It was David's voice!
She'd heard it a few times before and would never mistake it!
The footsteps got closer. The person was clearly about to enter the restroom.
Olivia was so nervous that her palms were sweating.
She crouched on the floor, pretending to check the pipes.
The door was pushed open.
A pair of shiny leather shoes appeared in her line of sight.
Olivia held her breath and slowly lifted her head, trying to see the person's face.
But just as she was turning her body, the water on the floor made her feet slip!
Olivia let out a cry. She lost her balance completely and fell straight forward!
She crashed solidly into the man.
He was also startled by her sudden tackle and took a step back, but ultimately couldn't keep his footing. They both fell to the ground together.
Olivia's face landed right on... his lower body.
Time seemed to stand still.
Olivia's mind went blank.
For the first time in her life... she was in such intimate contact with a man's private parts...
And in such an awkward situation...
"Who are you?"
Olivia's face instantly turned bright red.
Without bothering to see the person's face clearly, she scrambled up and ran!
"Don't run!" the man shouted behind her.
But Olivia had already rushed out of the restroom, running all the way down the stairs and out of the Jones Group.
She ran outside, found a quiet corner, and crouched down, covering her face.
"So embarrassing!" she squealed quietly.
But soon, she calmed down.
That voice...
It really was David's voice.
And the person's height and build were very similar to David's.
Although she hadn't seen his face clearly, she was sure it was David!
She immediately pulled out her phone and messaged Lily: [I saw him! It's David! I'm sure it's him!]
[He's at the Jones Group right now!]
Lily saw the message and froze completely.
David... at the Jones Group?
And Samuel at Tranquil Springs Retreat...
If they appeared in different places at the same time...
That meant...
They weren't the same person!
Lily's mind was in chaos.
Not the same person...
So all her previous suspicions were wrong?
But...
If they weren't the same person, why would they have such a similar presence?
Why would they use the same custom perfume?
And why would he get those documents to help clear her name?
Lily couldn't figure it out.
She messaged Olivia again: [Olivia, are you sure it was David? Did you see his face clearly?]
Thinking about that face-burning scene just now, Olivia couldn't help but shake her head, trying to push that image out of her mind. She swore she would never tell anyone about this!
Not even Lily!
Too embarrassing!
[Positive, definitely David!]
Lily bit her lip.
If they really weren't the same person...
Then all her suspicions and tests during this time had been for nothing?
She took a deep breath and sent Olivia one last message: [Olivia, Samuel cheated on me. What should I do?]
After sending this message, she waited a few seconds.
Olivia's reply came: [What? Cheated?]
[That Samuel?]
[I thought he was a good guy! I totally misjudged him!]
[Wait there! I'm coming right now! We'll beat him up together!]
Seeing Olivia's indignant reply, warmth surged in Lily's heart.
At least she had Olivia.
She thought again about the scene in the restaurant, Samuel and Hazel going to the hot spring together.
The pain in her heart surged up again.
Samuel, that bastard!
Time after time, he'd flirted with her, made her fall for him, made her get caught up in it...
And now, he was going to the hot spring with another woman!
Why?
Why was she the only one getting hurt?
Why did she have to endure this pain alone silently?
The more Lily thought about it, the angrier she got.
No way!
She couldn't just let this go!
If Samuel made her heart ache, she'd make him hurt too!
If his heart wouldn't hurt, then she'd make his body hurt!
Lily wiped away her tears and stood up.
Her eyes became determined.
She was going to confront Samuel!
Lily wiped away her tears and walked quickly toward the hot spring area.
She had to confront Samuel face-to-face!
Arriving at the entrance to the hot spring area, she saw Hazel elegantly selecting swimwear at the display.
Samuel wasn't there.
