Chapter 84 It's Like a Sister

Chapter 84 It's Like a Sister

David glanced at her and nodded. "Alright, let's go to the meeting room next door."

He turned and followed Hazel out of the surveillance room.

Only Andrew and Kurt were left in the room.

Kurt immediately moved closer to Andrew and lowered his voice. "What do you think Hazel's up to this time?"

"What else? She just can't let it go," Andrew said casually.

"True. How many years has Hazel been chasing David? Five years? Or six?"

"If we count from college, it's been about seven or eight years. But if we count from when she first had a crush on him, who knows how long? Back then, Hazel was famous in our circle as the devoted girl who would do anything for David."

"Too bad David has zero interest in her. I remember Hazel confessed several times, and David rejected her completely every single time." Kurt sounded a bit gleeful.

"Yeah, David has never had romantic feelings for Hazel. If it weren't for the complicated relationship between their families, David probably would have cut ties with her long ago."

"Right. Not just business dealings, but also the connections between the older generation. Hazel uses that relationship to stay close to David."

"But she's pretty smart. After being rejected, she immediately backed off to a sister position, keeping a social distance while making it impossible for David to distance himself from her completely. That retreat strategy was actually quite clever."

"Exactly. All these years, Hazel has maintained a sibling-like relationship with David on the surface, but everyone can see she still has feelings for him. At least when David was single, she had some hope. But now that David's married..."

"Yeah, and from how David acted just now, he really cares about Lily," Andrew said, a hint of worry flashing in his eyes. "I'm a bit worried Hazel might do something to Lily."

Kurt's eyes lit up. "You mean Hazel might go after Lily?"

"It's possible. After all, Lily's existence completely destroys Hazel's hopes. Any woman would find that hard to accept."

"Now that'll be a good show. Hazel VS Lily - one's calculating and scheming, the other's innocent and naive. This is going to be entertaining!"

Andrew frowned at him. "Can you be serious? What if something really happens?"

Kurt didn't seem concerned. "What could happen? No matter what, Hazel wouldn't dare actually hurt Lily. You know David's temper - if someone touches his person, he'd tear them apart."

"That's true, but fights between women are often hard to guard against."

"Then just keep a close eye on things. You've got nothing better to do anyway."

Andrew rolled his eyes. Even if he had nothing to do, could he really watch Hazel 24/7? Still, if necessary, he could warn David to be careful of Hazel.

Although Hazel had been very restrained these years, who knew what was really going on in her mind?

The two chatted a bit more, then their conversation returned to the surveillance footage.

On the screen, Lily was still wandering around Tranquil Springs Retreat, looking increasingly anxious.

"Lily can't find David - she's getting worried," Kurt laughed.

"Of course, finding someone in a place as big as Tranquil Springs Retreat isn't easy," Andrew said.

"Think David will go out to see her?"

Andrew shook his head. "David's probably going to keep teasing her."

"What a twisted sense of humor."

The two continued watching the surveillance footage, waiting for the next act.

Meanwhile, in the meeting room.

Hazel sat elegantly on the sofa, pouring tea for David.

"David, the Carter family is willing to invest more in this project."

David nodded. "Good, Willie will coordinate the specifics with you."

Hazel paused. "Alright, David, when can I meet Lily?"

"When there's a chance," David said coolly.

Hazel looked at his distant manner, a flash of sadness in her eyes.

But quickly, she recovered her smile.

"Then I won't disturb you. Don't forget to go to the hot springs this afternoon."

"Okay."

Hazel turned and left the meeting room.

The moment she walked out the door, the smile on her face gradually disappeared.

Lily...

She repeated the name in her mind, a cold glint flashing in her eyes.

My man - you can't take him away!

After leaving the meeting room, Hazel didn't immediately leave Tranquil Springs Retreat.

She strolled along the tree-lined path at Tranquil Springs Retreat, her expression thoughtful.

The woman she'd seen on the surveillance just now - Lily. She wanted to see with her own eyes what kind of woman could make David fall for her.

Hazel walked along the path and soon spotted a sneaky figure ahead.

Lily was hiding behind a tree, carefully peering toward the conference building, completely unaware that someone was approaching from behind.

Hazel stopped and quietly observed her. From behind, she had a slender figure with long hair flowing down her shoulders. Wearing casual clothes, sunglasses, and a hat, she looked like she was up to something suspicious.

This is her?

Hazel slowly approached, stopping not far behind Lily.

Lily seemed to sense something and suddenly turned around.

Their eyes met in the air.

Lily froze.

The woman before her wore a white dress with long hair flowing over her shoulders, delicate features, and an elegant demeanor. Most importantly, the way she looked at her - full of scrutiny and assessment - sent chills down her spine.

Hazel didn't speak, just quietly looked at Lily, examining her carefully from head to toe.

That look was like appraising a product or evaluating an opponent.

Lily felt uncomfortable all over.

Who is this woman?

Why is she looking at her like this?

Suddenly, an image flashed through her mind -

That morning, she stood by the window and saw a car parked downstairs. A woman in the car, acting intimately with Samuel...

It's her!

Lily recognized her instantly.

The woman in front of her was the woman who came to pick up Samuel for work that day! The woman who was acting intimately with Samuel!

Lily's heart jumped.

What... what is she doing here?

Did she come to the hot springs with Samuel?

Lily's heart felt sour and bitter. Going to the hot springs with a woman - so this was the business Samuel was talking about.

Just as she was lost in thought, Hazel suddenly spoke.

"You're Lily?" Her voice was gentle, but carried a hint of superiority.

Lily was startled. "You... you know me?"

Hazel smiled slightly. "You're Samuel's wife, right?"

Lily said warily, "You are..."

"I'm Samuel's... friend."

She deliberately emphasized the word "friend" with a deeper meaning.

An uneasy feeling welled up in Lily's heart.

'Friend?'

'What kind of friend drives him to work in the morning and acts intimately with him?'
