Chapter 83 Intentionally Teasing Her

Chapter 83 Intentionally Teasing Her

Seeing how the two of them were acting, Skylar finally felt relieved.

Lily and David continued playing the loving couple - one wiping the corner of the other's mouth, the other pouring water - looking incredibly sweet.

David watched Lily trying so hard to act and couldn't help but laugh inside.

Lily was quite the actress. The bit of anger from earlier disappeared completely after seeing her cute, earnest performance.

Whatever, he wouldn't hold it against her.

After all... she'd be his sooner or later.

After breakfast, David got up to leave.

He picked up his suit jacket and said casually, "I'm going to Tranquil Springs Retreat today. I might be back pretty late."

"Tranquil Springs Retreat?" Lily's ears immediately perked up.

"Yeah, got a project to discuss. The place is nice, just a bit far."

He turned to look at Lily. "What are your plans for today?"

"I'm meeting up with Olivia to hang out," Lily said.

"Well, have fun."

With that, he grabbed his car keys, kissed Lily on the cheek, and left. Seeing him go, Lily also said goodbye to Skylar, then quickly set off, driving toward Tranquil Springs Retreat.

Meanwhile, Olivia had already arrived near the Jones Group.

She found a café with a good view, sat down, ordered a coffee, and started watching the Jones Group's entrance.

"Lily, I'm in position. How's it going on your end?"

"I'm on the road too. Samuel said he's going to Tranquil Springs Retreat, so I'm following him."

"Good! Then I'll watch the Jones Group and see if David shows up."

"Sounds good, let me know if anything happens."

The two began their "mission" for the day.

This time, they were determined to uncover the truth!

Lily drove her car, following David's from a distance.

She'd learned her lesson - this time she kept a safe distance, close enough not to lose him but far enough not to be spotted.

The car headed toward the suburbs, getting more and more remote.

Lily looked out at the scenery, feeling a bit uneasy.

Was Samuel really going to Tranquil Springs Retreat? Or was he going to lead her to some remote area and ditch her like last night? Thinking about being tricked last night made Lily annoyed. This time, she had to be careful and not let him fool her again!

The car ahead turned onto a tree-lined avenue, and Lily followed.

In the distance, a luxurious resort hotel came into view.

Tranquil Springs Retreat.

Lily watched the car ahead enter the resort and felt relieved.

Looks like he didn't lie this time - he really came here.

She parked her car not far away, put on her sunglasses and hat, and prepared to get out and follow him inside.

Deep inside Tranquil Springs Retreat, in a luxurious conference room.

David stood in front of a huge surveillance screen, watching with interest as the sneaky figure appeared on it.

Lily, wearing sunglasses and a hat, was carefully wandering around Tranquil Springs Retreat, occasionally hiding behind trees or decorative rocks, looking around like a thief.

Andrew couldn't help but laugh. "David, Lily's really persistent. You tricked her last night, and she still dares to follow you today."

Kurt Lowe also came over to look. "She's got guts. But David, aren't you worried about making her really mad? Angry women can be scary."

David didn't say anything, just stared at Lily on the screen, a fond smile playing at his lips.

Looking at her being so careful, clearly afraid of being discovered but still refusing to give up...

So stubborn yet so adorable.

"Switch to camera three," he ordered.

The staff immediately switched the feed, showing Lily from another angle.

She was now hiding behind a tree, peeking out toward the conference building.

Andrew laughed. "David, what do you think she'd do if she knew you were watching her? Would she be furious?"

David said confidently, "Yes, and she'd definitely make a scene."

"Then why are you still teasing her?"

Because she looks cute when she's angry.

That's what David thought, but he didn't say it out loud.

Andrew and Kurt exchanged glances, both seeing the exasperation in each other's eyes.

Great, David had fallen hard.

Andrew got serious. "But honestly, Lily really cares about you. A normal contract spouse wouldn't go to such lengths to investigate their partner."

"Yes." David nodded, a hint of tenderness in his eyes.

He knew.

Precisely because he knew Lily truly cared about him, he had the patience to play this game with her.

Kurt continued, "David, that look on your face... I can tell you've really fallen for her. But this Lily - is she really good enough for you?"

David's expression instantly turned cold as he looked at Kurt.

Kurt was startled by his look, but still said stubbornly, "I'm just being honest. The Martin family has already abandoned Lily. Besides design, she doesn't have any assets. How is she good enough for you?"

Andrew frowned. "Kurt! Watch what you say."

"I'm not wrong..."

"If I hear you say something like that again, get out."

Kurt froze.

He'd known David for so many years, and this was the first time he'd seen him get this angry over a woman.

"I... I got it," he said sheepishly, not daring to say more.

Andrew was trying not to laugh.

Serves you right for running your mouth.

Just then, there was a knock on the conference room door.

"Come in," David said.

The door opened, and a woman in a white dress walked in. She had long flowing hair, delicate features, and an elegant air - it was Hazel.

"What are you watching?" Hazel walked in with a smile, her eyes landing on the surveillance screen.

When she saw the sneaky figure on the screen, she paused slightly, then laughed.

"Is that... Lily?"

On the screen, Lily was hiding behind a tree, peeking out and looking around - the careful way she moved was indeed a bit comical.

David gave a brief acknowledgment.

Hazel walked closer to the screen, watching Lily's every move with interest. She covered her mouth and laughed softly. "Is Lily... following you? That's so cute."

Andrew laughed from the side. "Exactly! Lily followed him yesterday, too. David tricked her once, and she's back at it today."

"That kind of persistence shows Lily really cares about David," Hazel said with feeling. "David, you must really like Lily, right? Being treated with such devotion - it's truly enviable."

David's brow furrowed slightly.

He didn't like discussing these personal feelings with Hazel.

"Did you need something?"

Hazel sensed his resistance, and her smile stiffened momentarily, but she quickly recovered.

"There are some company matters I'd like to discuss with you. Can we talk privately?"
