Chapter 77 Tracking
Chapter 77 Tracking
"Damn it, why are so many people here?"
"Can you pinpoint the exact location?" Lily asked anxiously.
"I can only narrow it down to within ten feet..." Olivia stared at her phone. "The signal is showing... over by the café!"
The two immediately looked toward the café.
Seven or eight tables of customers sat in the café—some in business negotiations, some friends gathering, and one person sitting alone reading a newspaper...
"Which one could it be?" Lily murmured.
Just then, a young man wearing glasses in the corner of the café stood up, picked up his phone, said a few words, and then headed toward the elevators.
"It's him!" Olivia said excitedly. "The signal is moving, matching his direction!"
"Go after him!" Lily immediately started walking.
But just then, a large crowd suddenly poured into the lobby, separating them from the man.
"Excuse me, excuse me!" Lily anxiously tried to push through the crowd.
By the time they finally squeezed through, the man had already entered the elevator, and the doors were slowly closing.
"Damn it!" Olivia stamped her foot in frustration.
Lily quickly looked at the elevator display. The numbers kept jumping: 3rd floor, 4th floor, 5th floor... finally stopping at the 8th floor.
"8th floor! Let's go up!"
The two immediately pressed the button for another elevator.
But when they reached the 8th floor, the hallway was already empty.
"What about the signal?" Lily asked.
Olivia looked at her phone, her expression turning grim. "The signal... disappeared."
"What?"
"He must have turned off his phone or removed the battery," Olivia said helplessly. "We can't track it now."
Lily leaned against the wall and let out a deep sigh.
The 8th floor was the hotel's guest room area. This floor alone had dozens of rooms—there was no way they could knock on each door to check.
And even if they found the person, he wouldn't necessarily admit anything.
"This lead... is a dead end," Lily said disappointedly.
Olivia patted her shoulder. "Don't lose heart. There must be other ways."
"Right! I can still work on Samuel."
Glory Hotel, a suite on the 8th floor.
Willie had just reinstalled his phone battery when he received a call from the hotel security manager.
"Mr. Reed, as you requested, we pulled up the lobby surveillance. There were indeed two ladies tracking the Jones Group employee, and one of them..." The manager paused. "Looks very much like Mrs. Jones."
Willie's heart sank. "Are you sure?"
"Pretty certain. Although she was wearing sunglasses, judging from her figure and demeanor, it should be her."
"I see. Send me the surveillance footage." After Willie finished speaking, he immediately reported to David.
"Mr. David Jones, the situation is exactly as you thought. Mrs. Lily Jones tracked the signal location and came to the Glory Hotel herself. If I hadn't given the SIM card to someone else and prepared in advance, I might have been discovered by now."
David was silent for a few seconds.
"Send me the surveillance footage."
"Yes."
David opened the video and saw Lily and Olivia anxiously searching in the lobby. She wore a simple white T-shirt and jeans, her hair in a ponytail, her small face tense beneath the sunglasses, her eyes searching everywhere.
When the crowd separated her from the Jones Group employee, she anxiously tried to squeeze through, even breaking into a small run.
Seeing this scene, David's heart twisted painfully.
To uncover the truth, she had gone this far...
And Olivia, well done!
David put down his phone and rubbed his temples.
It seemed he had underestimated Lily's persistence and intelligence. She not only suspected his identity but had taken actual steps to investigate.
If this continued, it wouldn't be long before she discovered the truth.
"Willie. Starting today, strengthen all security measures. My whereabouts, office entry records, all places that could potentially expose my identity—keep everything strictly confidential."
"Understood. I'll arrange it immediately. However, Mr. David Jones, if Mrs. Lily Jones is really determined to investigate, there will eventually be slip-ups..."
"I know." David interrupted him.
"Then... does Mr. Jones plan to come clean?"
David looked out the window without speaking. He had always known how much Lily hated David. If Lily found out that he was David, what would she feel?
He didn't dare guess, and he didn't dare gamble.
Naturally, he didn't dare tell her either.
But then again, Lily's determined little face as she searched for the truth was really quite adorable. He almost couldn't resist wanting to tease her a bit more.
In the evening, Lily returned home.
As soon as she entered, she smelled the aroma of food. David was sitting at the dining table, looking at reports, clearly waiting for her to come back.
Seeing that Skylar wasn't around, Lily sat down and casually began, "Mr. Jones's secretary called me today."
David's finger paused mid-scroll on the screen. "What about?"
"Said Mr. Jones was very satisfied with my design and wanted to talk to me privately about the collaboration," Lily observed his reaction. "Also said he could invite me to visit the Jones Group and get familiar with the workflow."
David responded flatly, "That's good."
That's good?
Lily frowned.
If Samuel wasn't David, shouldn't he be less calm about hearing his wife was going to meet another man alone?
She decided to push harder.
"And you know, Mr. Jones is really good to me. Yesterday at the awards ceremony, he not only helped clarify the plagiarism issue but also publicly said my design talent was second to none in Harmony City. Do you think he likes me?"
David's hand stopped mid-air as he reached for his cup.
Likes her?
What was all this about...
Lily saw his expression finally change a bit and continued to act innocent. "Look how much he takes care of me—standing up for me, wanting to meet privately... Maybe he's trying to pursue me."
David's face darkened. He tried hard to suppress his emotions. "Mr. Jones just appreciates your talent. He doesn't like you."
Lily countered, "You're not Mr. Jones. How do you know what he's thinking?"
David was stumped.
I am David. Of course, I know what I'm thinking!
But he couldn't say that...
"Anyway, don't overthink it," he said.
"I'm not overthinking. And honestly, Mr. Jones is really excellent. Young and accomplished, successful in his career, and so handsome."
David's head was pounding.
"The key is he's also very responsible and knows how to protect people. After we get divorced, do you think I should marry him? What if he minds that I've had a child?"
She looked at David meaningfully.
