Chapter 194: Erasing Past Grudges and Grievances

Chapter 194: Erasing Past Grudges and Grievances

At this moment, the Crest Security Syndicate members hidden throughout the city could no longer sit still.

In a dimly lit warehouse on the outskirts, dozens of people had gathered.

Every face was grim, eyes brimming with murderous intent.

"That bastard Jaxon has some nerve going up against the Crest Security Syndicate. He's asking for death. We can't let this slide—we have to take him out!"

"Damn right. Anyone who crosses us doesn't get a pass. We kill him and take whatever resources he's got."

"If we can crack that Prime intel they've been talking about, it'll be a major asset for us."

As the discussion grew heated, a middle-aged man stepped forward.

His gaze was cold, and the aura emanating from him was utterly terrifying.

The moment he appeared, the temperature in the room seemed to plummet to freezing.

Seeing him emerge, everyone immediately straightened and bowed respectfully on either side.

"Mr. Perry!"

This man was Cole Perry, head of the Crest Security Syndicate's Frostkeep division.

"I've gotten the full rundown on Jaxon. He's the new head of the Storm family. All that Prime research Laurent was working on? It's all in his hands now."

"The data on those Primes is incredibly valuable. If we get our hands on it, the boost to our operations won't be insignificant. So the higher-ups have issued an order: obtain what he has, no matter the cost."

At his words, everyone nodded in agreement.

"In that case, there's no point in holding back anymore."

Vicious expressions spread across their faces. They were itching to move.

"But here's the thing—headquarters says you can make your move, but only you people here. No one else gets involved. We can't afford any unnecessary complications."

"Our goal is to infiltrate all of Frostkeep. Now's not the time to be exposed. If we're discovered, it'll seriously mess up our plans going forward."

The Crest Security Syndicate wasn't about to deploy everyone just for one Jaxon.

Doing so would throw their entire operation into chaos. So for now, they wouldn't mobilize the full force.

Hearing Cole's words, the group smirked with contempt, their faces full of arrogance.

"Just one measly Jaxon? We're more than enough to handle him. No need to send more people."

"Exactly. We've been lying low for years. Taking him down will be a walk in the park—won't even break a sweat."

As members of the Crest Security Syndicate, they had absolute confidence in themselves.

Cole's expression remained impassive, his tone icy as he spoke.

"Then quit standing around. Get moving. I'll be waiting for good news."

With his command, the group vanished from the warehouse.

Though Jaxon was keeping tabs on the Crest Security Syndicate's movements, he didn't consider them much of a threat.

Meanwhile, Audrey had already wrapped up her tasks and called him directly.

"Mr. Storm, per your instructions, I've taken care of everything. I've sent all the compiled data to your phone."

"Thanks for your hard work."

"No need to thank me, Mr. Storm. This is what I'm supposed to do."

"But Mr. Storm, according to reports from my people, something big might be brewing in Frostkeep soon. It's connected to those guys you've been investigating. They're definitely planning a major move. Do you need me to arrange backup ahead of time, just in case?"

At her question, Jaxon shook his head with a smile.

"No need. They're just a bunch of trash. They're no threat to me. As for the guys we just dealt with—whatever they had is yours now."

With that, Jaxon hung up.

Nightshade's expression grew serious. Though she was somewhat surprised, since Jaxon had already made his stance clear, she didn't press further.

If even Audrey had picked up on the intel, naturally Nightshade had received word as well.

Learning that this group was planning a big operation, Nightshade immediately launched a detailed investigation into them.

Once she had the specifics, she reported directly to Jaxon.

Knowing that they were sending quite a few people, Jaxon changed his plans. He didn't choose his apartment as the location for the confrontation.

These Crest Security Syndicate operatives were formidable, and they had no moral boundaries whatsoever.

Though his place was fairly isolated, there were still innocent people around. If he lured them there, it would inevitably cause unnecessary trouble. Any collateral damage wouldn't be worth it.

"Set it up at a location on the outskirts. Since they're so eager to come, we'll deal with all of them there."

Hearing this, Nightshade nodded immediately.

"Understood. I'll arrange it right away."

Once everything was in place, Jaxon headed to the location. All he had to do now was wait for these guys to walk into the trap.

He'd originally thought it would take a while, but to his surprise, only a few hours passed before shadowy figures began appearing in the darkness.

Though they were still trying to stay hidden, their skill level wasn't nearly enough to fool Jaxon.

Jaxon's expression turned helpless, and he called them out directly.

"Your stealth techniques really don't cut it. Stop hiding. Come out."

His tone was calm. The moment he finished speaking, a black shadow burst from the darkness, appearing instantly in front of him.

"Not bad. You actually noticed us."

"I hear you're pretty skilled. We came here today specifically to test you—see if you're really as good as they say."

As the voice finished, Jaxon let out a cold snort, his expression dripping with disdain.

"With trash like you? You're not even qualified. But I am curious—has the Crest Security Syndicate run out of people? Are you losers seriously all they could send?"

"Someone like you doesn't deserve more of our people. We're more than enough to deal with you!"

"If you guys are that confident, then I won't waste my breath. Come on."

Jaxon crooked his finger in a taunting gesture. The group's faces darkened, and they quickly moved to surround him.

"You're asking for it!"

"Jaxon, you've still got a chance to back down. Hand over what you've got, and we'll make it quick. Otherwise, I'll make you wish you were dead!"

"Enough talk. If you're not afraid to die, come at me."

The moment his words fell, one of them lunged forward, fist swinging. In the same instant, a dagger appeared in his other hand, stabbing straight toward Jaxon's face.

Seeing this, Jaxon's eyes turned cold. He immediately dodged.

But as he evaded, the others closed in as well. After just one exchange, Jaxon could already see the problem.

Though they were all Crest Security Syndicate members like the ones he'd dealt with before, these operatives were far stronger than those three.

"Interesting. Looks like taking you guys down is actually going to take some effort!"

Jaxon's gaze sharpened. He locked onto one of them and charged forward in an instant.

Seeing Jaxon closing in, the man showed no concern. His face remained full of arrogance.

"You think you can hurt me? You're not even close!"
