Chapter 189: Toying with Prime
Chapter 189: Toying with Prime
Laurent's wild eyes blazed with murderous intent, but Jaxon couldn't care less.
"A piece of trash like you? Not even close."
Jaxon's tone dripped with contempt, as if Laurent wasn't worth a second thought.
Laurent let out a cold laugh and flashed backward, putting distance between them. A second later, an explosion ripped through the space behind him.
A hulking brute burst out—nine feet tall, his massive frame bristling with strange red tubes jutting from his body.
His eyes glowed blood-red as he let out a roar like a wild animal.
Even Jaxon frowned at the aura radiating from this thing.
This guy's power far exceeded the Ultras. Stronger than anyone Jaxon had faced before.
Laurent laughed maniacally, his face twisted with pride.
"This is Prime—my masterpiece, years of work poured into him. You should feel honored to be his first prey. Now go—tear him apart!"
At his command, Prime launched a vicious assault on Jaxon.
Watching that fist come at him, Jaxon didn't flinch. No dodging. He met it head-on with his own punch.
BOOM!
The heavy glass containers lining the lab shattered instantly.
The thunderous impact echoed through the room, the shockwave so powerful it forced even Laurent back several feet.
But Laurent didn't care about any of that. His eyes stayed locked on the fight.
Seeing Jaxon pushed back, a smug grin spread across his face.
"Looks like you're not so tough after all."
Jaxon's arm tingled with numbness, his expression darkening.
He'd expected Prime to be no joke, but he hadn't anticipated the thing could withstand more than half his strength—and walk away without a scratch.
Anyone else would've been dead already.
Jaxon shook out his hand, then in one step appeared beside Prime and threw another punch.
Prime didn't move an inch. He took the hit straight on.
BOOM!
A crater formed in Prime's torso, several bones snapping audibly.
Jaxon had figured that would do it, but even after taking that punch square on, Prime showed no signs of damage. His aura didn't waver in the slightest.
Jaxon didn't hesitate. He threw another punch, forcing Prime back.
Prime's expression didn't change. Not a hint of fear.
Laurent watched from the side and broke into cold laughter.
"Pathetic. You think a couple punches like that can kill my Prime? Dream on!"
Jaxon's brow furrowed as he watched, genuine shock flickering in his eyes.
His strength was no joke, and those hits had broken most of Prime's bones.
No matter how strong Prime was, there should've been 'some' reaction.
But not only had the creature's aura not weakened—his face showed absolutely nothing.
Jaxon's expression turned ice-cold, his eyes glinting dangerously as he clenched his fist again.
"Interesting. Worth all that effort you put in, at least."
He prepared to strike again, but Laurent suddenly roared.
"Tear Jaxon apart!"
At his command, Prime let out a shriek and charged.
Jaxon's face hardened as he dodged the incoming strike.
Before he could steady himself, Prime's backhand came at him. Jaxon barely got his arms up in time to block.
The force sent him stumbling back several steps, his arms going numb.
Seeing Jaxon at a disadvantage, Laurent's laughter grew even more unhinged, his face flushed with triumph.
"That's all you've got and you dared to cross me? You're dead today!"
Laurent's arrogance reached new heights as his mind conjured images of Jaxon pinned beneath Prime's fists.
Hearing that cocky voice, Jaxon let out a cold snort and shook out his hands.
"Prime's got some skill, I'll give you that. Too bad he ran into me."
Murderous intent flashed in his eyes as he closed the distance to Prime in one stride.
Before the creature could move, Jaxon's fist connected.
With a thunderous crash, the entire lab shook—but Prime didn't budge.
Laurent's face lit up with arrogance.
"It's useless. You're not strong enough to hurt him!"
Laurent looked smug, convinced Prime was invincible.
But the moment those words left his mouth, Jaxon let out a cold laugh.
"Is that so?"
Seeing that expression, Laurent's smile froze. An ominous feeling crept over him.
Before he could react, Jaxon's hand surged with power.
BOOM!
Blood sprayed. A gaping wound exploded across Prime's body.
Laurent's face went pale, shock flooding his eyes.
"How is that possible? Prime has top-tier defenses—even grenades can't hurt him. How did you—"
"Just a freak cobbled together in a lab. Taking him down is child's play."
With that, Jaxon surged forward, grabbed Prime's head, and slammed it brutally into the ground.
BOOM!
The floor cracked apart. Prime's aura weakened by more than half in an instant.
Jaxon followed with another punch straight to Prime's heart, piercing clean through.
Prime twitched a few times on the ground, then went still.
Laurent's eyes went wide as saucers, disbelief written all over his face.
"What...?"
His expression froze, his mind blanking out completely.
Jaxon stood, shaking the blood from his hand with a contemptuous smile.
"Useless piece of garbage."
Laurent snapped back to reality, murderous rage flooding his eyes.
"You bastard! You destroyed my life's work—I'll kill you!"
He charged forward with a roar. The second he got close, Jaxon kicked him flying.
He slammed into the wall and coughed up blood, several bones breaking on impact.
Pain twisted his features. He didn't have the strength to stand.
Jaxon stepped forward and planted his foot on Laurent's chest.
"Laurent. Time to settle accounts between us."
Jaxon's voice was ice-cold, murderous intent burning in his eyes.
"I'd think twice if I were you. This is my territory. Kill me, and you won't make it out alive!"
He still tried to threaten him. But Jaxon wasn't having it. He stomped down, breaking Laurent's leg.
"Your territory? So what? I came here to end you, and that's exactly what I'm going to do."
Jaxon wasn't interested in wasting words. Seeing that Jaxon truly meant to kill him, Laurent panicked.
He fought through the pain, swallowing hard, and begged.
"Wait!"
"Got any last words?"
"You can't kill me. You've got Storm family blood in your veins—you're one of them. Kill me, and you betray the family."
"Now you remember I'm part of the Storm family? When you tried to have me killed—when you murdered my parents—did you think about that?"
Murderous intent surged in Jaxon's eyes. He grabbed Laurent by the throat and lifted him off the ground.
