Chapter 188 Delaying for Time
Chapter 188 Delaying for Time
Under his interrogation, his subordinate hastily explained.
"Audrey, Nathan, and the others have launched an attack on us too."
At those words, his face instantly darkened.
"What?"
"It's not just them—Daniel's involved as well!"
"They've surrounded all our territory and are swallowing us up at an alarming rate!"
Listening to his subordinate's report, Laurent's expression grew grim, murderous intent surging in his eyes.
"Those bastards—how dare they be so bold!"
"Mr. Storm, they're coming at us from all sides. Our men can't hold them off. We'll probably need to mobilize the core members."
"Then get them moving immediately. No matter what, you have to hold the line. I'll have the research team speed things up. Once our Prime is complete, that'll be their death sentence!"
"Understood!"
His subordinate nodded and was about to leave when a sudden explosion echoed from outside.
At the sound, everyone's faces changed simultaneously.
Under their watchful eyes, a blood-soaked subordinate stumbled in, panic written all over his face.
"Mr. Storm, we've got a problem—Jaxon's here, and he's already killed dozens of our men!"
Laurent's face shifted. He immediately rushed outside.
Jaxon stood at the gate, his feet planted on the corpse of a Main Storms member.
"I was starting to think you'd been too scared to come out."
Jaxon's face twisted with mockery. Laurent clenched his fists, his eyes blazing with fury.
"You've got some nerve coming onto my turf!"
"Cut the crap. It's time we settled things between us."
"Settle things with you? You think you're worthy? This is my territory, and today I'm going to kill you!"
Laurent waved his hand, and dozens of subordinates immediately surrounded Jaxon.
Their eyes brimmed with killing intent as they glared at him viciously.
Seeing their murderous stares, Jaxon not only showed no concern but wore a contemptuous smile.
"Just you guys?"
His face dripped with mockery. He didn't consider any of them a threat.
If they thought they could pose a danger to him, they were still too green. Jaxon remained unfazed, his eyes full of disdain.
He crooked his finger in a taunting gesture. The crowd was instantly enraged and lunged at him.
"You're asking for it! We're going to destroy you today!"
They had the numbers and weren't slow, but Jaxon stood perfectly still.
The instant they closed in, Jaxon took a single step and vanished from their sight.
Before they could figure out what had happened, a chill swept up their spines.
Their faces changed. They tried to react, but it was too late.
In a single exchange, their bodies flew backward like kites with severed strings.
They hit the ground, coughing up blood, their faces contorted in pain.
"How is that possible? This guy's so strong!"
Seeing his men at a disadvantage, Laurent's face went cold, a murderous gleam flashing in his eyes.
"Useless trash!"
Though furious, he knew Jaxon's capabilities.
If he fought Jaxon one-on-one, even if he managed a draw, he'd certainly be seriously injured.
He shot Jaxon a glare and issued another order.
"Stall him!"
With that, he turned and ran.
At his command, the Main Storms guards charged forward again.
While they engaged, Laurent fled the scene.
Watching him retreat, Jaxon gave chase.
The others tried to block him, but Nightshade appeared, cutting off their path.
"Your opponent is me!"
Seeing Jaxon in pursuit, Laurent's face darkened, murderous intent flooding his eyes.
"Foolish idiot—you dare follow me? Fine, come on then. Today I'll show you what I'm made of!"
His eyes blazed with killing intent as he picked up speed.
Soon, he reached the Main Storms' private laboratory.
The place was guarded by several bodyguards. When they saw him appear, curiosity crossed their faces.
Before they could figure out what was happening, Laurent shouted.
"Jaxon's coming! Stop him now!"
At those words, their faces changed immediately. They spotted Jaxon's figure at a glance.
Their expressions darkened, murderous intent flooding their eyes.
"That bastard dares come to our turf? He must have a death wish!"
Their faces twisted viciously, their eyes full of killing intent.
Seeing their expressions, Jaxon paid them no mind. Instead, his face showed mockery.
"You think a bunch of trash like you can stop me? Dream on!"
Cold light flashed in Jaxon's eyes. He took a single step and was instantly in front of them.
Before they could react, Jaxon launched a fierce assault.
Amid agonized screams, their minds went blank, their expressions turning extremely ugly.
As they stood there helpless, Jaxon's eyes remained cold, murderous intent permeating his gaze.
The gap in strength was too great—they posed no threat to Jaxon whatsoever.
In mere seconds, Jaxon took them down. Laurent didn't even spare them a glance as he rushed deeper into the laboratory.
"How much longer until Prime is complete?"
"Conservative estimate—another hour!"
At those words, Laurent's face immediately soured.
"I can't wait that long. You've got ten minutes. If it's not done by then, you're dead!"
Hearing this, the researcher froze, his eyes widening.
"Mr. Storm, that's impossible—"
Before he could finish, Laurent's roar cut him off.
"I said there's no time! I don't care what you have to do—get it done, or when Jaxon gets here, we're all dead!"
The researcher's expression grew grave. Not daring to hesitate, he quickly nodded.
"Understood."
Laurent stared coldly toward the entrance. The moment Jaxon finished dealing with the trouble, Laurent charged out.
"You're definitely skilled—I really underestimated you. But like I said, this is my territory, and I won't allow anyone to run wild here."
"Looks like you're planning to handle this yourself. If that's the case, then come on!"
Jaxon remained unfazed, crooking his finger in provocation.
Laurent's face darkened. He instantly closed the distance and launched a fierce attack.
But the result was disappointing—not much different from their previous encounters.
Even though he'd used all his strength, he couldn't even touch the hem of Jaxon's clothing.
This time, however, Laurent didn't care. What he needed was to buy time. Once Prime was complete, killing Jaxon would be as easy as crushing an ant.
Seeing his behavior, Jaxon saw through his intent. He landed a punch to Laurent's abdomen, sending him flying backward.
Laurent coughed up blood, his face turning extremely ugly.
He'd just struggled to his feet when the researcher's excited shout came from behind him.
"It's complete, Mr. Storm!"
At those words, Laurent's face lit up with excitement.
"Excellent!"
He clutched his chest, his face full of triumph.
"Jaxon, today I'm going to make sure you die!"
