Chapter 86 Do You Really Want to Sever Our Relationship
Lily scoffed, "I have nothing to do with the Roberts family anymore. There's nothing I need to do."
In her previous life, she had given everything, and what was the result?
Sophie noticed Austin was hurt and quickly showed concern. "Austin, what happened to you?"
"Who else but Lily?"
"Why would she do that to you? That's so mean."
Austin's voice was cold. "I asked her to explain things to the investors, but not only did she offend them, but she also dared to hit me. Lily, I really underestimated you."
The investors had stormed off in anger, and the deal was off the table.
Austin directed all his fury at Lily.
Sophie was secretly delighted. She regretted not being there to witness it herself.
Sophie deliberately spoke up, "Lily, this is all your fault. As a member of the Roberts family, how could you be so reckless?"
"Not everyone is as obedient as you."
Lily laughed, "Yeah, like Sophie, who’s so obedient that she drags you down in competitions and loses miserably?"
Austin and Sophie both looked very displeased.
Austin stepped forward, "Lily, you have to come back with me and explain everything."
"Let go of her, Austin."
Dennis and Eric hurried over.
Sophie recognized Dennis's voice and said with surprise, "Lily, I didn't expect you to be with the school doctor."
Sophie was pleased. After all, her current boyfriend was the son of the wealthy Murphy family from Empire City.
Lily's boyfriend was just a lowly school doctor, nowhere near as prestigious.
"Sophie, stop making stuff up. We're just friends."
"Lily, stop hiding it. There were rumors at school about you two, and then you moved in with him after leaving home. Who would believe you're not together?"
Ethan raised his voice, "Lily moved in with another man?"
Sophie smiled, "Yes, I told you before, and you didn't believe me."
Lily narrowed her eyes, "Do you know why Tony's grandfather lived so long?"
Ethan, puzzled, "Why? What does that have to do with anything?"
"Because he never meddled in other people's business or gossiped like a yenta."
Lily turned to Dennis, "Let's go."
With Sophie around, she didn't want to stay any longer.
Dennis cast a cold, warning glance at Ethan.
Ethan was instantly enraged, feeling humiliated. He pointed at Dennis, "What the hell are you looking at? Try that again!"
Ethan had left Empire City and was thriving here. No one had ever dared look at him like that.
Dennis ignored Ethan, standing tall and proud.
Ethan grabbed a bottle from the bartender and charged at Dennis. "I'm going to teach you a lesson!"
Lily saw Ethan coming and pushed Dennis aside, "Watch out."
Time seemed to slow down. Lily closed her eyes tightly as she was pulled against Dennis's chest, her head hurting from the impact.
Dennis kicked Ethan away, his movements fierce and ruthless.
His face was dark, his eyes cold and sharp.
If he hadn't reacted quickly, Lily would have been hurt.
Ethan lay on the ground, grimacing in pain. Sophie was startled and quickly ran to help him. "Mr. Murphy, are you okay? You're bleeding."
Ethan was in too much pain to speak.
Sophie glared at Lily, "Lily, do you even know who Mr. Murphy is? If he gets hurt here, the Murphy family will hold you responsible."
Lily, holding her aching head, responded coldly, "Ethan started it. We were just defending ourselves."
"But you're not hurt, and Ethan is seriously injured. We will call the police and hold you accountable."
Sophie was worried. If something happened to Ethan, the Roberts family would be in trouble with the Murphy family, and her chances of marrying into the Murphy family would be ruined.
Eric couldn't stand it anymore and stepped forward, "Ethan, are you tired of living?"
Why couldn't he just stay in Empire City?
And he dared to attack Dennis. He must be tired of living.
Ethan froze, recognizing the voice. He looked at the masked man in front of him.
That voice sounded just like his cousin Eric.
Could it be Eric?
Austin quickly helped Ethan sit up. "Are you okay?"
"It hurts."
Ethan wanted to be a hero, but the kick to his chest made it hard to breathe. His chest hurt with every breath, and he wondered if his ribs were broken.
Sophie saw Ethan's pale face and panicked, "Austin, what should we do?"
"Take him to the hospital, what else? Who hit him?"
Sophie pointed at Lily, "That school doctor. He was too harsh."
Austin recognized Lily behind the mask and lowered his voice, "Lily, do you know who Ethan is? If he gets hurt because of you, the Roberts family will be in trouble."
"But Ethan started it. Even if we go to the police, we're not at fault."
Lily was frustrated. She had been having a good time until Sophie showed up.
Austin looked at Dennis, "You hit him, right? You'll have to face the Murphy family's anger. Be a man and don't drag my sister into this!"
Before the Murphy family could get involved, he had to clear Lily's name.
Lily stood in front of Dennis, "This isn't his fault. He was protecting me."
"Lily, are you crazy? I'm trying to help you!"
Austin was confused, "Can you take responsibility for this? The Murphy family is powerful!"
Lily was upset. She knew the Murphy family was trouble, but she couldn't let Dennis take the fall alone.
"We'll get a lawyer. I don't believe the Murphy family is above the law."
"You think the Murphy family will be reasonable?"
Eric chimed in, "That's not true. The Murphy family is reasonable."
He was very reasonable!
If he didn't want to reveal his identity, he would have slapped Ethan by now.
Austin ignored Eric and looked at Lily, "You'd better keep quiet. I'll handle this. That man needs to come to the hospital and apologize to Ethan!"
Austin helped Ethan up, "Mr. Murphy, let's get you to the hospital."
Ethan, in pain, couldn't focus on anything else.
As he passed Lily, he snarled, "You'll pay for this! I won't... ah..."
Sophie lagged, looking at Lily, "You're in trouble now! He's the Murphy family's precious grandson. You'd better think about how to apologize and get his forgiveness."
This time, Lily would pay the price!
