Chapter 55 Will Lily Forgive Him
Lily heard Sophie bragging, but didn't show a hint of emotion. She could make her own money now.
With a calm expression, Lily looked at the sales associate. "The size is fine. Wrap it up, please."
Sophie sneered, "Lily, you're only buying these two items? Is that school nurse you're with too cheap to spend money on you?"
Calista chimed in, "Lily, that school nurse rented all those luxury cars to pick you up the other day. It was such a show, but too bad they were all rentals!"
Sophie's smile widened, finally feeling a sense of satisfaction.
Lily held her shopping bags. "I'm spending money I earned myself. I don't need to rely on anyone."
Sophie smirked, "Relying on family can be a kind of happiness, too. Why fight with your family? Why not just go back? You have no idea how much I envy you for having so many brothers."
Violet couldn't stand it any longer. "Sophie, cut the act. If you hadn't stirred things up between her and her brothers, would Lily have left home? It's all your fault!"
Sophie laughed, "But the brothers like me better. They think I'm the one who should be their sister. There's nothing I can do about that. It's not my fault."
Lily couldn't be bothered to argue with Sophie.
In her past life, she would have been angry and upset, maybe even fought with Sophie over these things.
But now, she didn't care at all about her brother's favoring Sophie.
Lily left the store, and Violet shot Sophie a dirty look. "You might be gloating now, but you're not the real daughter of the Roberts family. You're just a fake!"
Sophie clenched her teeth in anger at those words.
One day, she would completely drive Lily out of the Roberts family, and then she would be the real daughter.
After Lily left, Violet fumed beside her. "Lily, are you just going to let Sophie bully you like that?"
"If I'm not mad, why are you?"
"But you're their real sister. I don't get it. I used to think you weren't liked because of your personality. But now I see it's because Sophie set you up!"
Lily replied calmly, "It's not entirely Sophie's fault. My brothers prefer an obedient sister, and Sophie knows how to play to that."
In her past life, she had sincerely cared for her brothers and quietly sacrificed a lot, but it went unnoticed.
Sophie was just good at putting on a show.
Since her brothers liked that, she didn't care anymore.
Violet sighed. "Now I understand why you started streaming. It's to make money, right?"
"With my streaming being so popular now, I won't have any money problems. Don't worry!"
Thinking about Lily's recent rise in fame, Violet felt less worried. "By the way, do your brothers know you're Sweetlemon?"
"They didn't know before. Now, I'm not sure."
After her PK match with Austin last night, she thought Austin might have figured out who she was.
Lily hadn't intentionally hidden it.
Now that she had signed with the Crayfish platform and was quite popular, even if her family found out about her streaming, they couldn't stop her.
That night, Lily's stream was featured on the Crayfish platform's homepage.
Lily was in a good mood, chatting and competing during the stream.
Her professional and exciting PK matches attracted a lot of fans.
Michael watched Lily's stream, hearing her cheerful voice. It was clear she was happy now.
He felt a sense of loss.
Lily had been away from home for so long, never looking back, not spending a dime of the family's money.
Now, with her successful streaming career, she didn't need the family's money at all.
Austin stumbled in, reeking of alcohol. "Michael, you're watching her stream too! She knows exactly who I am, but she's been playing me this whole time!"
Michael smiled bitterly. "You only have yourself to blame. How did you treat her back then? Lily's heartbroken, that's why she won't come back."
"But I've apologized to her. What more does she want? Michael, I feel so frustrated!"
Austin felt a deep sense of anguish.
"Austin, if you want to win Lily back, you need to change your attitude and be nicer to her!"
Michael realized now how much he had neglected Lily before.
"Are you saying we haven't been good to her? Michael, you've been in the hospital for days, and she hasn't visited once. Her coldness makes it hard to be nice to her."
Austin, drunk and rambling, sat on the floor.
Michael looked at the stream, feeling helpless.
Lily was too hurt to come see him. It was his own fault.
When Lily had been good to him, he had been blind to it.
Michael sent a bunch of gifts, dominating the screen for a while.
Lily saw the name of the gift sender and pursed her lips.
It was Michael.
She pretended not to notice Michael's name.
[Sweetlemon, will you be attending the influencer event tomorrow night?]
Lily replied, "I'll be there."
[Oh my gosh, is it hard to get into that event? I want to go and meet you!]
[Offering a high price for an invitation to tomorrow's event!]
Lily took a break and then explained today's PK match, detailing the strengths and weaknesses of different strategies and who they were best suited for.
These were insights she had gathered in her past life, and she hoped to help as many people as she could.
After ending the stream, Lily stretched her neck and felt a bit sore.
She left her study to get some water from the kitchen and saw Dennis at the entrance, apparently just getting home.
Suddenly, the lights went out.
Lily spoke up, puzzled. "Did the power go out?"
Luckily, it happened after her stream ended.
In the dark, Dennis's voice came from not far away. "I'll call the property management."
"Okay, it might not be a tripped breaker. I don't see any lights outside either. It's probably a neighborhood blackout."
Lily spoke as she felt her way to the couch, but accidentally knocked over a vase.
The vase shattered, startling her.
"Stay where you are!"
Dennis's voice was cold and urgent.
Lily stood still, unsure where the glass shards were.
She saw the faint light of a phone flashlight approaching.
Dennis came over, his figure looming in the darkness, but the weak light still illuminated the space between them.
Lily spoke, "I came out to get water and didn't bring my phone. Good thing you came back in time."
She looked down to check the floor, but Dennis suddenly moved closer. "Put your hands up."
Lily sensed him getting closer. Was he going to carry her out?
She placed her hands on his shoulders and was lifted.
She felt the warmth of his body through her palms, almost burning.
She noticed Dennis's muscles were firm, unlike her soft arms.
It was the first time Lily had been carried by others like this, and her heart raced uncontrollably.
