Chapter 47 It was Lily's Voice
Sophie had listened to SweetLemon's voice countless times.
She was almost certain it was Lily!
But the livestream never showed the person's face, just the keyboard and fingers. It was impossible to tell who the streamer was!
Sophie felt a bit panicked.
Did Austin not recognize Lily's voice?
"Sophie, what are you doing out here? Isn't it hot?"
Austin came out of his office after lunch and saw Sophie standing in the hallway alone.
Sophie had a complicated expression on her face. "Austin, I was just watching SweetLemon's video. Did you finish watching it?"
The streamer spoke at the end of the video.
Austin shook his head. "I didn't finish it, but I know her well enough to say she'll definitely advance tomorrow. We need to sign her up!"
"Austin, have you looked into this person? Like, do you know her real name or what she looks like?"
"No, I haven't. She wouldn't agree to my contract terms. I thought there might be another reason. Now it seems like she might be streaming on Crayfish to raise her value."
Austin was confident that throwing money at her would get her to sign.
Seeing Austin's confidence, Sophie began to doubt herself.
If SweetLemon were really Lily, she wouldn't have endured her bully before.
Maybe it was just a similar voice.
Some people looked alike in this world.
Sophie let out a sigh of relief. It couldn't be Lily.
The next day, Lily woke up naturally. She checked her phone and saw a few messages.
Michael: [Lily, what kind of part-time job are you doing? Is it tough? Why don't you come work at my company? It won't be too tiring.]
Lily glanced at the message but didn't reply.
She was busy preparing for her evening stream.
Lily went to the next room.
Dennis was on the balcony, making a call.
Eric was lounging on the couch. "Lily, you're up? Did you see that your stream from last night went viral? You're gonna have a huge audience tonight! Nervous?"
"A little, but I won't lose."
Lily was confident in her skills.
Her gaze drifted to the balcony, where Dennis stood, tall and lean, with one hand on the railing.
Sensing her gaze, Dennis turned and met her eyes.
His expression was gentle. He said a few more words into the phone and then hung up.
Lily quickly looked away, but noticed him coming back to the living room.
Dennis said, "I have to go out for a bit. I might not be back tonight."
"Go out? Isn't school on break?" Lily asked.
Eric explained. "Yeah, I have some business that Dennis needs to help me with."
Lily knew Eric was a trust fund kid, so she didn't ask further.
During lunch, Lily received a call from Crayfish Live: "Hello, I'm the manager at Crayfish. Are you SweetLemon?"
"Yes, I am."
"We're very interested in your potential and would like to discuss a contract with you. Can we exchange contact details so I can send you the contract and more information?"
Lily hung up and looked at Dennis. "Crayfish's management contacted me."
Eric spoke first. "Don't agree to anything yet. Wait until after tonight's stream to negotiate. Don't let those capitalists take advantage of you!"
The capitalist's boss was right there!
Eric felt quite heroic, fighting for Lily's interests.
Dennis ignored Eric's antics and said to Lily, "Let's discuss it after I get back."
"Okay."
Lily wasn't in a rush.
After Dennis and Eric left the apartment, she checked the contract from Crayfish.
The terms were pretty good, but they required several hours of daily streaming and participation in platform events.
She needed the money from streaming, but her goal wasn't to become a gaming streamer.
She wanted to join the national team and compete professionally!
Lily logged into the game to upgrade her character's gear.
After so many PK matches last night, her gear needed maintenance.
As soon as she logged in, she saw hundreds of friend requests!
Some were from guild leaders, some from fans.
Lily ignored them all and turned off friend requests.
A message popped up: [I watched your stream last night. You're impressive. But signing with Crayfish is a bad deal. Our platform, GreenFruit, is backed by Northern Entertainment. You could become a streamer and have opportunities in showbiz!]
Lily saw the message from Austin. He seemed very sincere.
In her past life, Sophie had entered showbiz with Peter's support and did well.
Lily's lips curled into a cold smile: [No, thanks.]
She replied and started adjusting her gear.
Austin kept sending messages, but she didn't read them.
Lily checked the top 100 preliminaries list. Ten people advanced yesterday.
Tonight, she'd be PKing with them.
Only the winners would advance to the top 100, and then the real challenges would begin.
She recognized some familiar names, mostly from major guilds.
But she didn't see anyone named TurnBackTime.
In her past life, she met that person during this event.
With their guidance, she made it to the top ten.
She always suspected that person was Dennis.
Dennis's in-game name was also TurnBackTime.
But the timing was off, so she wasn't sure if it was the same person.
Had her rebirth changed the course of events, preventing their meeting?
Lily felt a bit down.
That evening, Lily started her stream on time.
As soon as she went live, she saw tens of thousands of viewers.
[I bet she is cheating. She'll get caught tonight!]
[You are just salty because they're bad at the game!]
[If she isn't cheating, why won't she show her face? Afraid of being exposed?]
Lily was about to respond when someone started sending a flood of gifts in the chat.
She saw the top fan's name: Titan Team. She clicked her tongue.
It was Austin.
Austin posted in the chat: [She's got skills. Let's be clear, I want to sign her!]
The chat exploded.
Austin was well-known in the streaming world, and his account was verified.
Lily's lips curled into a mocking smile. "Let's start tonight's PK!"
Austin nearly fell off his chair when he heard that familiar voice!
It was Lily's voice!
