Chapter 33 Forcing Her to Forgive
Was this supposed to be an apology?
It was obvious he was trying to force her to accept everything!
Lily's expression remained indifferent, making Austin's heart sink.
He had been pretty confident just a moment ago, but now he felt unsure.
He had lowered himself so much to apologize and make up; surely Lily understood his intentions, right?
From childhood to now, he had never bowed his head to anyone like this!
Lily was the first!
Sophie seized the opportunity to interject, "Come on, Lily. Austin put so much thought into this apology dinner. You gotta see how sincere he is."
Austin's expression was a bit unnatural. "Lily, whatever you want, just say it. I'll do it."
Lily raised an eyebrow, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "My request is simple."
"Go ahead."
Austin breathed a sigh of relief.
If Lily was willing to state her conditions, it meant she would forgive him.
He knew it; Lily was just throwing a tantrum, thinking he favored Sophie!
Once they made up, he'd find a chance to teach Lily a lesson.
"From today on, don't appear in front of me, and stop making decisions for me."
Austin's expression froze, his mind buzzing as if it had exploded.
Lily turned and walked away, her back decisive and resolute.
Without a trace of hesitation.
Lily stepped out of the training base, a wave of heat hitting her. The cicadas' summer song added to her irritation.
"Lily, what do you want me to do to make up for my mistakes? Just say the word!"
Austin chased after her.
He looked at Lily earnestly, his attitude sincere.
Lily finally lost her patience. "Didn't you understand what I just said? Maybe you should retake elementary school."
"Lily, we've been so close since we were kids. Are you really gonna never forgive me because of one impulsive mistake?"
Austin couldn't believe she could be so heartless.
Lily found it amusing.
Just one mistake?
It seemed Austin still didn't understand why she left the Roberts house.
But she didn't feel the need to explain.
She didn't want to look back, nor did she want to compromise and make peace.
Lily's gaze was cold and clear. "If that's what you think, then so be it."
Austin seemed deeply shocked, unable to speak for a long time.
He couldn't believe Lily was truly disowning him.
Sophie rushed over, blocking Lily's path. "Lily, it was all my fault last time. I'm the reason for everything. From today on, I'll move out of the Roberts Mansion. You'll never have to see me again."
Sophie turned to look at Austin, her eyes red. "Austin, thank you for taking care of me all these years. I'm already very grateful."
Austin instinctively grabbed Sophie's hand. "What are you doing? This has nothing to do with you. It's between me and Lily."
"No, Austin, you don't understand. It has everything to do with me! I need to take responsibility!"
Sophie's tear-filled eyes and understanding demeanor made her seem incredibly sympathetic.
Austin couldn't help but sigh. "Why can't you be as understanding as Sophie, Lily?"
Lily's eyebrows raised, her tone mocking. "So, having her is enough for you? Stop bothering me!"
"Lily, you always think we're biased towards Sophie, but look at what you've done. If you were as understanding as she, we wouldn't be in this situation."
"That's why it's best if we just stay out of each other's lives."
Lily walked straight to the roadside. It was a remote area with few cars passing by.
But she wanted to leave.
Austin blocked her path. "I think we should talk this out and clear the air!"
Suddenly, a sharp honking sound rang out as a black luxury car sped towards them.
Austin turned to see the car heading straight for him, showing no signs of stopping!
"Austin, watch out!"
Sophie ran over, and Austin instinctively pulled her aside, but he turned to look at Lily, who remained in place.
Realizing what he had done, he shouted in panic, "Get out of the way!"
Lily's face was expressionless, her eyes dark and unfathomable.
The car screeched to a halt beside Lily.
The window rolled down, revealing Dennis's stern features. His voice was gentle. "Get in."
Lily's lips curled into a slight smile. She knew it was him!
She bent down and got in the car, ignoring Austin's voice outside. "Lily, you can't go with him!"
Lily glanced at Austin, who was chasing after the car, and rolled up the window, cutting off everything outside.
Austin chased for a while before stopping, looking defeated.
He pounded the ground in frustration. How did things turn out this way?
He had left Lily standing there.
Thinking of Lily's expression, Austin felt a wave of anxiety. What was he going to do?
He had instinctively chosen Sophie. It didn't mean he didn't care about Lily.
But Sophie had run over to save him. He couldn't just ignore her.
Lily was smart; would she understand?
Austin was uncertain.
Sophie ran over, looking worried. "Austin, are you okay? Lily will be fine. She didn't come home last night either. She was probably with that school doctor."
Austin composed himself. "Lily's been corrupted by that school doctor! She used to throw tantrums, but she never held grudges against us like this!"
Lily had changed.
He needed to find a way to get everything back on track!
In the car, Lily opened the window, letting the wind blow in, saying nothing.
Dennis didn't ask either, driving her back to the apartment.
In the elevator, she sneaked a glance at him. "Are you mad?"
She had noticed his displeased expression in the car.
He looked at their reflection in the elevator. "You've improved this time. At least you knew to call for help."
"Because it happened suddenly. Someone was confessing to me at the school gate, and I sprayed them with a fire extinguisher. The person was from Empire City and not to be messed with. When the conflict escalated, Austin came out to intervene and forcibly put me in the car. But I didn't expect him to take me to the team base."
Lily hadn't expected Austin to arrange so many people and even put up a banner to welcome her to the team.
She hadn't agreed to it.
The old Lily would have been morally coerced.
But now, as long as she had no morals, morals couldn't coerce her.
"Who confessed to you?"
Lily looked up. "The most handsome guy from the private school next door!"
Dennis narrowed his eyes. "Is he the one you have a crush on?"
"No way, it's not him!"
Lily found it amusing.
The elevator arrived, and she walked out first.
Dennis watched her back, his tone stiff. "Lily, no dating!"
"I know, you've said it a million times. Stop nagging like a dad!"
Dennis followed her unhurriedly, his brows furrowed in thought.
Lily noticed fresh vegetables and fruits in the kitchen, surprised. "Are you planning to cook?"
"What are you thinking? Of course, I was going to have the chef cook! But then I got a message from you."
Lily felt a bit guilty. "How about I cook from now on? I'm pretty good at it."
After all, Dennis had taken her in, and she wanted to do something in return.
Dennis squinted. "When did you learn to cook?"
"When I was with the Roberts family, I often cooked for everyone. Especially David and Michael, who had sensitive stomachs and only liked my cooking..."
Lily trailed off. "Anyway, I learned it a long time ago."
She had learned to cook to please her brothers.
Dennis seemed displeased, speaking slowly. "Lily, your hands aren't meant for cooking."
