Lily didn't want to say too much to Dennis.
Last time, because of the surveillance video incident, she almost got Dennis killed.
This thing with Theron had the Harper family behind it. She didn't want to drag Dennis into it again. He should go back to Imperial City and live a peaceful life.
She still had to deal with the Roberts family, so her life wouldn't be peaceful going forward.
Dennis didn't ask much either. "It's getting late, so get some rest."
After hanging up, Dennis's gentle expression turned cold.
He tossed his phone aside. "Go find out what the conflict between that Theron and Lily is really about."
"She didn't tell you?"
"No."
"That's weird. Lily used to rely on you a lot. She'd tell you whenever something happened. Why didn't she tell you this time?"
Dennis also sensed the change in Lily's attitude.
He could probably guess what she was thinking. He looked at Eric. "Enough. Go investigate!"
"Actually, no need to investigate. I just checked the Quest University Facebook group. Theron is the captain of Quest University's team, a total pervert who specifically targets freshmen girls.
Lily's good-looking and great at gaming, so he set his sights on her. This afternoon, he even confessed to her outside the dorm building."
Seeing Dennis's expression darken, Eric quickly explained, "But Lily rejected him. Most likely, that jerk held a grudge, so he bribed the dorm manager to get in, probably planning to do something bad."
Dennis's eyes instantly turned cold, and the curve of his lips was chilling.
He said lightly, "Make sure Theron pays for what he did."
Eric hesitated. "But Lily's gotten stronger now. Maybe you should learn to let go? Even without you stepping in, Theron will get what's coming to him."
Dennis lowered his eyelids. "I know."
"If I hadn't been quick-thinking this time, Lily would've been discovered already. Olivia and your mom are asking around everywhere about who the girl in the car accident with you was."
Dennis fell silent.
Outside the hospital room, a middle-aged lady overheard the conversation inside, her expression turning cold.
The hospital room door was pushed open.
The middle-aged lady walked in with a smile on her face. "Dennis, are you feeling better?"
"Mom, I can be discharged today."
"That's good. I've arranged with Mrs. Harper for our two families to have dinner together and talk about you two."
Dennis's face was expressionless. "Mom, I never agreed to get engaged to the Harper family."
"You're not getting any younger. The Harper family's conditions are pretty good, and it's a good match. What are you unhappy about?"
"Mom, I know what I'm doing. Stop getting so close to the Harper family, or you'll be the one embarrassed later!"
Dennis's attitude was firm.
Celeste Gonzalez was furious. "Is it because of that girl who was in the car accident with you? That's why you're refusing to get engaged to the Harper family's daughter?"
"Even without that girl, I wouldn't get engaged to the Harper family. Give up on that idea."
"Dennis, you're becoming more and more disobedient. This isn't up to you."
Celeste stormed out of the hospital room.
She looked at her assistant. "Go find out about that Lily, what her background is!"
Some gold digger wasn't good enough for her son!
She had to deal with this in advance!
The next day, news about a cross-dressing pervert appearing in Quest University's girls' dorm spread quickly.
Many parents of students in that building were questioning the school. The school office's phones were ringing off the hook. They felt their daughters' safety wasn't guaranteed and wanted the school to explain why the dorm staff had been so negligent!
Lily was sleeping soundly in the morning when she was woken by a phone call.
Lily glanced at the number. It looked familiar - seemed like it was the Harper family's lawyer.
She got out of bed, walked to the balcony, and answered the call.
"Lily, Theron's situation was set up by you, right? Openly going against our Harper family like this won't do you any good, and it'll drag your family down too!"
Family?
Lily's tone was calm. "I didn't force Theron to cross-dress and come to the girls' dorm. And last night, to beg for mercy, he gave me some stuff about your Harper family."
The lawyer's voice became noticeably tense. "You think I'll believe what you're saying?"
"Believe it or not, up to you." Lily hung up directly. She was instantly amused.
She said that on purpose, figuring the Harper family would definitely give Theron trouble. She wasn't going to let that jerk off easy.
She scrolled through her phone and found that last night's dorm incident had become a trending topic, with lots of people discussing it.
Since Theron was the captain of Quest University's team, it even spread to the gaming community.
Of course, Theron was the one getting criticized.
Lily planned to open her computer and sort through the data she'd saved from Theron last night. She had to find evidence of the Harper family's money laundering to keep them from making any rash moves.
Soon after, there was a knock on the dorm door.
After Zoey opened it, several female teachers walked in. "The incident happened in your dorm last night, right? So we want to ask you what exactly happened?"
Lily closed her computer. She noticed Wendy had been hiding behind her mosquito net the whole time, probably too guilty to speak up.
Zoey spoke first. "We had no idea someone was hiding in the bathroom. He just suddenly rushed out. We didn't expect he'd bribed the dorm manager to sneak in."
A female teacher looked at Lily. "Is that what happened?"
Lily's tone was cold. Just as she was about to answer.
At that moment, Wendy suddenly pulled back the curtain, her eyes red and swollen.
Wendy said hoarsely, "That's exactly what happened. And Theron came to our dorm because he confessed to Lily and got rejected, so he held a grudge. It has nothing to do with the rest of us."
Zoey's expression changed. "Wendy, do you know what you're saying?"
Wendy shrank back. "I'm not wrong."
Zoey turned her head away and closed her eyes. There was really no saving her.
Hearing Wendy's explanation, Lily gave a cold laugh.
Originally, she wasn't planning to contradict Zoey or say much.
But some people are just ungrateful who will never change!
The female teacher spoke up. "Lily, was it because of some romantic issue between you and Theron that he came to the girls' dorm looking for you?"
"Of course not! Last night when I got back to the dorm, there was no water. Wendy handed me a bottle of water that had been tampered with, and Theron was hiding in the bathroom at that time!" Lily explained.
Wendy screamed, "Lily, didn't you promise Zoey you wouldn't tell on me?"
"I wasn't planning to say anything, but you threw me under the bus first! Why should I cover for you?" Lily told the whole story of what happened last night.
But she didn't mention that Zoey had tipped her off and that the two of them had set up this trap together.
Wendy completely broke down. "Lily, you broke your word! You sold me out! I hope you rot in hell!"
Lily picked up her water glass and splashed it right at her.
