Chapter 125 Protecting Shortcomings
Lily heard sounds coming from outside, but her vision was pitch black.
Dennis's clothes were draped over her, blocking out everything.
But she felt much more at ease now—at least she knew she was safe.
Dennis looked at the two bodyguards lying on the ground, his thin lips pressed into a cold line: "Since they won't talk, then let's make sure they never speak again."
The two bodyguards' faces turned deathly pale when they saw Dennis holding that girl.
Who would have thought Dennis would rescue this girl!
Wasn't this girl supposed to be an orphan whose parents were both dead?
Dennis carried Lily into the elevator to leave. She leaned against him, his suit jacket covering her head, so she couldn't see what was happening outside.
Her mind had turned into complete mush.
Her hand clutched tightly at his collar, her knuckles white.
Dennis took the private elevator down.
Samantha happened to be running up the stairs from the other side and caught a glimpse of Dennis entering the elevator, holding a girl in his arms.
Although the jacket covered almost her entire body, it was definitely a woman's!
Samantha quickly hid to the side. She had been waiting for the bodyguards to come down, but got impatient and wanted to come up to check on the situation.
She never expected to see Dennis!
What was going on? Did Dennis have another woman on the side?
Then where did that little bitch Lily go?
Just as Samantha was about to step out, bodyguards blocked her way.
She looked at the bodyguards and said, "Do you know who I am? How dare you block me!"
She had clearly just seen Dennis cheating—she had to get to the bottom of this and report it to her sister. She absolutely couldn't let some outside bitch take advantage of the situation.
But the bodyguards stood directly in front of Samantha, not letting her get one step closer.
Samantha stamped her foot in anger: "Damn it, let me through!"
Sophie also walked over: "Ms. Harper, what's wrong?"
"These people dare to block me! My sister is Mr. Gonzalez's fiancée. If Mr. Gonzalez finds out you're blocking me like this, you'll be sorry!"
Sophie's eyes lit up instantly when she heard "Mr. Gonzalez": "Are you saying Mr. Gonzalez is in that private room over there?"
The Gonzalez family was Empire City's number one wealthy family, with immeasurable status and fortune.
If only she could have a chance.
Samantha said gloomily, "That's right. Mr. Gonzalez never likes being disturbed. Wherever he goes, he clears the area and doesn't let unimportant people get close. I don't know where that bitch Lily ran off to hide."
"Ms. Harper, Lily must be hiding somewhere quietly. Once Mr. Gonzalez leaves, we'll definitely be able to find Lily!"
"This time we have to completely ruin Lily's reputation, so she'll never dare go against me again."
After hearing Samantha's words, Sophie's mood improved greatly.
As long as they caught Lily and filmed those videos, how could they not have her under control?
From now on, Lily would never escape from her grasp and would never dare compete with her for anything again.
If she told Lily to go east, Lily absolutely wouldn't dare go west!
Sophie really couldn't wait for that day.
In the private room at the end of the hallway.
Eric wiped the blood off his hands and said methodically: "You guys really have some nerve."
Offending the girl that man held most dear.
"Mr. Murphy, we're from the Harper family. We were just following Ms. Harper's orders to catch that girl."
"The Harper family is nothing!"
Eric had long heard about Samantha and her crew—they often pulled these stunts at school and had caused incidents before, but the Harper family always cleaned up the mess.
This time, the Harper family had kicked an iron plate!
Eric immediately called Dennis: "I've found out what happened here. They're Samantha's bodyguards. They had some conflict with Lily, so they deliberately drugged Lily."
"Got it. Clean up those two bodyguards."
Since the bodyguards had seen who he was, there was no need to keep them around.
After Dennis hung up, he turned to look at the girl lying on the hotel bed, his eyes deep and dark.
Lily's hands clutched the blanket tightly, her forehead covered in sweat.
Dennis looked coldly at the family doctor beside him: "What's going on? Can't you see how uncomfortable she is?"
"Mr. Gonzalez, this lady was drugged with a new type from the bar. I've already given her the antidote, but I can't guarantee the exact effect. After all, spray drugs take effect very quickly, and we've already delayed this long."
Dennis's thin lips pressed together coldly: "Will there be any side effects on her body?"
"Once the drug wears off, she'll be fine, but before it does, it's best to have someone watch her."
"Get out. Don't tell anyone about coming here today."
The doctor nodded quickly and left with his medical kit.
Dennis walked over to Lily and touched her forehead—it was a bit hot.
His Adam's apple bobbed: "Want some water?"
But Lily actively nuzzled against his palm. She groggily reached out and hugged his waist: "You feel so cool."
Dennis looked at Lily, moving closer, his gaze instantly darkening considerably.
He directly pulled away Lily's hands: "I'll get you some water."
He went to the fridge and got some ice water. When he came to the bedside, he saw Lily's bare arms exposed outside the covers.
Her dress had already been thrown on the floor.
Seeing this, Dennis's eyes grew darker and heavier.
He stepped forward to Lily's side: "Get up and drink some water."
But Lily's body was soft as jelly, with no strength at all.
Dennis had no choice but to hold Lily in his arms. The blanket covering her body slid right down, and he fumbled to pull it back up for her.
His brow furrowed with irritation: "Don't move around!"
Dennis held Lily in his arms, unscrewed the bottle cap, and let her drink water bit by bit.
After a few sips, Lily choked. She irritably tugged at the blanket: "It's so hot."
Dennis's temple twitched as he held down her hand.
His voice was hoarse: "Don't move around—you'll expose yourself!"
"But I'm really hot. Touch me if you don't believe me."
Lily grabbed his hand and placed it directly on her chest, looking up at him with bright almond-shaped eyes.
Dennis's whole body stiffened. Sweat appeared on the tip of his nose, and his Adam's apple rolled up and down several times!
Her skin was burning hot.
Her heartbeat was racing.
Dennis looked down at her, his voice terrifyingly hoarse: "Lily, do you know what you're doing?"
They were very close, and his gaze was scorching.
He felt his mouth go dry—this feeling wasn't unfamiliar, after all, he was a normal man.
Lily wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed his lips.
Her technique was terrible, you could even say quite awful—it was more like she was gnawing on him.
Dennis pinched her chin, his eyes deep and dangerous: "Lily, wake up and see clearly who I am!"
"I know who you are!"
Lily cupped Dennis's face seriously: "If I have to be with a man, then I'd rather it be you!"
Dennis felt that thread of reason snap instantly.
His rationality seemed to be collapsing!
