Chapter 118 Sophie, Are You Lying
Sometimes, what you fear most is exactly what happens.
When Dennis saw this middle-aged man suddenly rush out, he felt like killing someone.
He nodded coldly and left the restaurant directly with Lily.
After walking a few steps, when Lily looked back, the middle-aged man was already gone!
She asked in surprise, "Who was that middle-aged man just now?"
"Don't know him."
"But he called you Mr. Gonzalez."
Lily looked at Dennis with doubt in her eyes!
Dennis's heart immediately jumped. How should he explain this?
Lily thought for a moment, then said with sudden understanding, "Maybe he's someone who worked with Maple Leaf Corporation before. Ever since the investment conference, quite a few companies have been coming to work with us."
Lily figured that the man must also be looking to work with Dennis.

When Lily had moved into his apartment before and planned to take charge of cooking, Dennis had told her she didn't need to please anyone.

Dennis walked over to help wash the vegetables.

Lily quickly whipped up three dishes and a soup, then took a photo with her phone to post on Feed later.
But her phone had several missed calls.
Although she hadn't saved the name, she recognized the number - it was Michael's.
Just then, the phone rang again.
Lily hung up directly, with no intention of answering.
[Lily, I'll explain to the police about Sophie's injury. You don't need to worry.]

Lily glanced at the message and placed her phone face down on the table.
She didn't need Michael to explain for her.

"Yeah. In David's eyes, I'm evil and pushed innocent Sophie down, so of course, he'll come after me."
Dennis's expression darkened, "What did he say?"
"Michael sent the message, saying he knows the surveillance is broken and will explain everything to the police. But I don't care!"
The Roberts family was best at winning people over with these small favors.
She wouldn't waver, and she wouldn't look back.
Seeing her determined look, Dennis knew that even living alone in Empire City in the future, she wouldn't be bullied.
On the other end, after sending the message, Michael called one more time.
Still no answer.
He thought that after sending those messages, Lily would at least answer the phone and be willing to hear him out!
But unexpectedly, Lily wouldn't even answer the phone!
Michael felt anxious and confused. How did things turn out this way?
David snorted coldly, "Well? Is Lily too guilty to answer the phone?"
"David, Lily isn't that kind of person. Besides, given the situation, we can't just conclude it was Lily's fault based on Sophie's side of the story alone."
Since the surveillance was broken, there was no proof that it was all Lily's fault.
Why did David believe Sophie from the start and refuse to believe Lily?
Michael began to understand what Lily meant when she said they had been biased before. What was David's attitude if not biased?
"Michael, I think Lily has brainwashed you. Sophie is hurt this badly, and you're still saying Lily did nothing wrong? I'm even wondering if Lily broke the surveillance on purpose!"
David had thought the surveillance would prove everything.
He hadn't expected it to be broken.
Sophie deliberately coughed, "David, forget it. I don't want to pursue this anymore."
She was secretly delighted. Good thing the surveillance was broken.
Heaven was helping her.
She had already thought of how to defend herself, but it turned out she didn't need to.
If they kept investigating and the surveillance data was recovered, what then? She couldn't take that risk!
Seeing Sophie being so generous, David said approvingly, "You're just too kind."
But Michael was suspicious, "Sophie, did Lily really push you down the stairs?"
Sophie was confused, "Yes, yes, she did."
"But according to your description, Lily was standing at the bottom of the stairs, and you were at the top. How could she push you down?"
This didn't make sense at all.
Sophie panicked and lowered her head, "Michael, I just wanted to talk to Lily, but she got emotional and pulled me, so I fell."
"But didn't you say Lily pushed you down the stairs?"
If she was really pulled down, why didn't Sophie use the word "pulled"?
Sophie's story had contradictions!
Sophie felt extremely guilty, afraid of being caught in a lie, and started coughing in her chest.
David interrupted, "Michael, what's with this interrogation? Like you're questioning a criminal."
"I'm just trying to get to the truth."
"They're sisters with some conflict; they pushed and pulled each other a bit, isn't that obvious?"
David thought the little scuffle between the two sisters wasn't a big deal at all.
But Lily's attitude made him angry. He had to make Lily back down.
Michael suddenly felt exhausted, "David, it's not like that. You can't just blame Lily."
"Enough, enough. You've just been brainwashed by Lily, and you've spoiled her, too."
Michael stormed out of the hospital room, tugging at his collar, depressed and irritated.
Why wouldn't David believe what he said?
Only now did he realize Sophie had so many schemes and wasn't as innocent as she seemed.
But seeing David's prejudice against Lily, he remembered he used to act the same way.
No wonder Lily left the Roberts Mansion so decisively.
Sophie anxiously followed him out, "Michael, are you mad at me? I want to convince Lily to come home too."
"Fine, then starting today, move out of the Roberts Mansion and stop living with us. I won't shortchange you financially. How about that?"
Sophie's expression instantly froze, not knowing how to answer, "Michael, I..."
Michael's gaze was piercing, "You won't agree? So what you just said was a lie?"
