Stuck at home
Raven
"I don't think that you should worry about Sadie, at least. I know she is great and would be happy to help." I told him with a bright smile.
"It shouldn't scare me, but it does." Juilian was thinking as I squeezed his hand.
We walked through the house out to the backyard. Most of the time we sat on the back steps talking about life. Sometimes Juilian will recall something that he normally wouldn't. So I had taken to writing things down when he did recall things. Once he recalled, his mother had black hair that was long enough to hit her thighs. Then another day he recalled sitting around a fire with several other young people during a midnight moon. I had no idea what that was, but would need to talk to Dad, he might know. It was like if he just talked and didn't think about it, he could recall. Otherwise, it was soup as he said.
"Help is here, and they will be willing to help you. You have showed that you aren't a threat to anyone here. Maybe I can ask her if she might be able to help." I knew he would say no as soon as I said it.
"No." He was firm on it, and I hated it. I wanted him to get better, to remember his past. The fear was making it hard for him to get around.
We sat looking at the moon for a while, I didn't have to talk to him. He would let me sit and hold his hand. Nothing else had to be said or done. I heard the back door open then close. Lucien came out, sitting on the steps with us. I didn't like the way, it seemed to be lost in thought. Like he wasn't sure that he wanted to be here. I worried that maybe I had pushed him too hard over the last few weeks. Lucien just sat there not talking to either of us like he wasn't sure what he wanted to say or do.
"Luc are you alright?" I asked as I turned to look at him.
"I guess, I am lost. Over the years, I have always been there for you. To help you with everything. Now you don't need me. I don't know what to do with myself." Lucien fiddled with his shirt as he looked at me, then to the skin again.
"Maybe try something new." I told him with a bright smile. "How about a shop? You are amazing at making things."
"I don't think mom or dad would go for that. I do love making things." Lucien wasn't sure, but I was.
I jumped up, grabbing Lucien's hand, pulling him up with me. Pulling him into the house, I pulled him to find mom and dad. They were in the living room talking to a witch. I couldn't recall her name, though. It was strange how that happens, you recall one but not the other. When we stopped, they all looked up at us. They didn't know what was going on. Lucien shrugged his shoulders at them as I dropped his hand.
"I think Lucien should open a shop." I told them with a smile.
"Does he want to do that?" Dad asked when he looked between us.
"You know how he is, thinking that his stuff isn't good enough." I told him, then stubbed when Luc smacked my arm. "Ouch you brat."
"I don't see any issue with it." Mom gave him a bright smile. "If you think you can make enough stuff to put in a shop. I will be sure to help you open a store."
"See, I told you they would be alright with it." I punched him in the arm.
"Ow you brute." Lucien rubbed his arm as we talked about him having a shop.
I went back to Juilian with a smile on my face. He could see that I was happy about what I had just done. Lucien was great with his hands and always felt like he didn't make things worth anything. It was a lie of course, my brother had talent. He had a closet full of things he had made that he didn't think anyone would want to buy. I knew better than that. He could make amazing wood carvings, tables with resin, and chess boards with pieces he carved. He needed to be pushed into the light so he could make money. Granted, we didn't need to worry about money, but that he liked to earn his own money.
As I sat looking out into the woods, I felt like someone was watching us. Looking around the edge of the woods, I thought I caught sight of eyes looking toward the house. I stiffened as I watched the area, Juilian felt it and looked around. I wasn't sure if he had seen the eyes or not. Almost red in the moonlight. Was there another mutant out there? I kept my eyes on that point as Juilian who finally found the eyes. He stood growling toward that spot. Neither of us moved, however, just waiting to see what would happen. A moment later, Dad came out of the house looking between the two of us. He looked around for a moment, then found the eyes in the woods. It was staying outside the ward to the house.
"Mutant?" Dad asked, but I couldn't answer him. All we could see was the eyes.
"Not sure, it is smart enough to stay outside the ward. I have never seen red eyes like that. Other than Edgar's." I told him, putting a hand on Juilian's arm.
"Maybe Edgar could look around and see if he could see something." Dad suggested as Edgar came out of the house. "You up for it?"
"Stretch of the wings." Edgar cawed down to us.
I watched as he flew into the woods at the side of the house. He disappeared into the trees, not looking back. I lost sight of him for a while but spotted him again but didn't follow him. Instead, I kept my eyes on the eyes. So I just stood, keeping my mouth shut and my eyes on the eyes in the woods. Several moments later, Edgar came back to land on the rail. He looked between us as he cawed, ruffling his feathers.
"Mutant for sure, not sure why it is just standing there. Though it seemed lost in what it was doing. Not sure why, but it stinks to high heaven." Edgar told us as he looked at Dad.
"Maybe whoever made it wants to see what we are doing. Trying to get an idea of when we leave the grounds. Would make sense seeing as we don't leave too often. It might be smart to stick close to home." Dad told us with a sigh.
He made sense in that, but some of the people had jobs outside the coven grounds. I sighed, this was going to make things hard for us. Maybe everyone should go out in groups. I didn't think they would try something with a group.
