"Well I never." Grandma said with her hands on her hips. "That rude bird isn't coming into this house."
"You would leave me out here to die. It is cold.."He shivered to show her that he was cold. "Plus I can't hide from the prey animals. They want to munch on my bones."
"Oh for goddness sake." She grumbled at she agrred to let him in.
I couldn't help but laugh at the exchange, it was strange to laugh again. So strange that I stopped looking toward my grandmother who was gaping at me. As we walked into the house I could hear Grandpa in the living room snoring. It still amazed me that he could sleep like that. Didn't know vampires could snore. When we entered the living room Edgar flapped his wings cawing.
"Good lord, is that a vampire or a bear." Edagr called out waking Grandpa up.
"What the...What?" Grandpa looked over at me seeing the bird. "You have a crow on your shoulder Raven."
"Wow he is so smart. He just looked at me and knew I was a bird." Edgar flew over to the mantel to sit looking at the vampires.
"Oh a rude bird at that." Grandpa looking toward him. "Why is he in the house?"
"Raven I do believe your grandparents hate birds." Edgar cawed looking between the two. "Maybe I will peck your eyes out over day."
"Cheeky bird." Grandpa laughed at him.
I didn't stick around, insteadI went back toward my room. I heard Edgar flying toward me. When he landed on my shoulder I grunted. He was a little heavy when he landed like that. I turned toward my door to enter the room. Once inside I left the door open for now, normally I would have closed it. Egar looked around the room then back to me.
"You have nothing in here." Edgar flew down to the small table.
"I don't actually live here." I told him as I sat on the bed crossing my legs.
"Umm am I wrong in thinking that you do live here." Edgar asked tilting his head.
"More like visiting. I live in the states with my parents. I was having issues with anger toward my mom." I told him feeling tears build in my eyes.
"As in the United type states? You treated your mom like shit I take it." Edgar had never been to the united states.
"Yes, and yes I treated her badly. No matter what she did for me I would blow up. Don't really have any idea why I did it. When I would see her I would just blow up. So Dad sent me over here to figure out what was going on. I can't blame them at all, I even went off on my twin." I felt horrible knowing that I had treated them like shit.
"Hormones are a thing you know." Edgar told me with a loud caw. "Did you ever say you're sorry? Not that you should have to."
"You don't understand." I told him feeling anger in my vioce. "God you really are a stupid bird."
I couldn't stop the words that came out of my mouth. When he started to laugh with a hint of cawing I glared at him. Why would he be laughing about that? I watched as he got a hold of himself he looked at me.
"Being hateful isn't the same as hurting someone. You can say I'm a stupid bird, because I have a bird brain. You would have had to say something pretty horrible to get your parents to send you away." Edgar told me as he flew to the bed.
"Believe me I did." I told him with a sigh.
I sat there watching Edgar explore the room. I didn't say anything more at the moment. I needed to figure out what the hell I was doing. Standing I started pacing the room letting my mind wonder over what I would do with my anger. I couldn't go home and do the samething over and over again. I knew I had to go back though, I needed to see Elysium and see if my blood could tell us something. Grabbing my phone I called Elysium asking if she would test my blood and see if there was somthing that was making me angry. She agreed and said it come to the house with the lab. The clinc was being taken care of by someone else. I went in and told my garndparents that I would be going back tonight. They told me if I wanted to come back I was welcome. So I went to the air field to go home, Edgar came with me. The flight was so long and I wanted my bed to sleep. I missed my family and wanted to see them again. The trouble was I needed to figure out what was going on with me. Could it be as simple as what Edgar said and I was having hormones? I didn't think so but I guess it could be possible. The plane landed but it was day time outside, so they pulled the plane into a hanger to have me get off and get into the car. Edgar hadn't said a word the whole trip. I could see that he was looking around at everything. I should have gotten a cage for him, but I felt aht would be wrong to cage him.
"They treat you like a princess." Edgar finally spoke as they started the drive to the house.
"Well my parents are very rich. Not to mention my Dad is a prince. Well in the vampire world that is." I told him then laughed at the shocked look on his face. Not sure how I know that was what he showing me.
"Well then...Hello Princess." Edgar gave a bow one wing held behind him the other over his chest.
"Stop that..." I told him waveing a had at him. I felt my eyes getting heavy the longer we drove.
"Sleep princess." Edgar told me but I just huffed at him.
I didn't mean to fall asleep in the car, it was just a long trip. Another two hours and the car was pulling into the drive way of the house. I opened my eyes to see the house with the sun behind the rocks. With the car in the shadows she was able to get out of the car to head toward the house. She hadn't taken the time to call her parents to let them know she was here. It would take her time to finally call and let them know. Her twin already knew she was here, but she made him promise not to tell their parents.
"That is a large house." Edgar cawed as he looked around the yard. "Trees!!!"
I watched as he flew off to the trees. I figured he would stay out here for a while. She wasn't sure how he would get into the house then she decided to open a window for him. Once in the house she opened one of the windows to let Edgar in if he wanted.
