“What the What?”
“I am your brother, well, adoptive brother, but your brother, nonetheless. Officially speaking, I am your cousin, but Dad adopted me when my father didn’t want me, so I became your brother. On the day that I became your brother, we were in an accident, and when Dad and I woke up, you were nowhere to be found. We searched everywhere, but there was no report of you or your whereabouts.
Dad was seriously injured and never really healed. After that, he got sicker and sicker, and with each passing day, week, month, and year that passed, he got worse.
I promised Dad that I would become a Detective so that I could find you. On the day of my promotion to Detective, Dad heard that you had been sighted in Bowman after his friends went to check. We couldn’t find you anywhere. We stayed for a few months before Dad was just too sick. He died three months later, and I promised to bury him here. When you get released from here, I will take you to him. He would love to hear from you.
Anyway, after that, I focused on being the best detective, and I am the captain of the detective unit. I have been working tirelessly to find you. But little did I know that one who knew you and knew where you were was the wealthiest family in this city. When Senna got taken, I was there and saw you being taken by Tristan and his family. Upon learning that it was your daughter who was taken, I decided to go to heaven and earth to find my niece and my sister and bring her back.
When we got to the house where Ms Carter and that were, but you weren’t there, I was beside myself trying to figure out where you were. Then Tristan came through the door carrying Senna after speaking to her, and heard that you were well, but leading Ms Carter away, I was both proud and angry that you were once again in danger.
Then, when we found you on the ground bleeding, my heart nearly stopped. I couldn’t believe that I found you; I couldn’t believe that you almost died. So, yes, I will protect you both from now on, just as Tristan and his family will do. You deserve the happy Alba, both you and Senna do.” Daniel says with a heavy sigh.
“So, he was right after all. I do have a brother,” I mutter
“Who was right? Who else have you spoken to since being in this hospital?” Tito asks as he moves forward.
“Dad, he came to me in a dream and said that I have a brother and that he was here to protect me and make me have a family,” I mumble, looking at Tito.
“Daniel has been looking for you for a long time. At first, I didn’t know what to think when I first saw him. It wasn’t that I didn’t want you. It's just that your mother and I were going through a divorce, and she was using you against me. She said that she was going to pick you up, but you never showed back up, and your dad just disappeared, trying to protect Alba, so I was searching for you both, only to realise that somewhere along the way, I looked after Alba while your father raised you, while looking for Alba.” Tito says sadly.
“That’s great, Tito, but I don’t care. Dad died, my sister was taken, and you had her for all that time. I am sure that you knew where Dad was, but you never made any effort to find him. You stole my sister and my Dad,” Daniel growls out.
“I know that you are pissed, but when I stumbled across Alba, I didn’t realize that she was his kid, that she was my niece until much later. Then there was Senna, and at the end of it, I was protecting them both from Alba’s crazy ass mother. Alba and Senna have had a rollercoaster of a life until now, when they met Tristan. I was happy, but I was scared that they could be found out. Life was finally going well for Alba and Senna, but then Senna was taken.” Tito growls.
“Tito, you did the best for me and Senna and for that I thank you. But you had a son. When we kept moving to avoid people and always kept under the radar, why? Why didn’t you tell me that you were missing a son? I know that you were looking for someone, but you never told me who. You never talked about it, but you chased lead after lead trying to find Daniel.”
“Yes, I looked, but I never found him. The day that Senna came into our life was the first time I heard about Daniel, but it was too late, then we needed to get Senna help,” Tito mumbled.
“Yeah, I know, but Daniel doesn’t.”
“What happened to Senna?” Tristan growls
“As you know, Senna isn’t Alba’s child; we made it that way. But she was in the house where I eventually found Alba after one of her abductions. Senna was just a baby. Her mother died during childbirth. Alba and I agreed to keep her, and at the time, Marg was a doctor; she signed the paperwork declaring Senna Alba’s, and we never went back. Marg later came looking for work after leaving the medical field. She came and worked for me. From then on, we never spoke about it; we just continued as per normal. Senna and Alba had been through a lot, and a lot of that Senna doesn’t know about because I made it that way. I am sorry, Daniel, I did try to find you, and I am sorry that that never happened.”
“I found my sister and niece. I will make sure that we have a relationship now,” Daniel growls.
“Yay, I have a new brother and a sister-in-law,” Lachy claps beside us.
“Grow up, this is serious.” Tristan groans beside me.
“I am serious, too. I have another brother, so be careful, Tristan, you may be replaced.” Lachy says laughingly while trying to dodge Tristan’s swinging arm.
