“Start from the beginning,” Daniel says
“When I realised who Senna was taken by, I didn’t think I just reacted, I borrowed Lachy’s car and drove to their place, and when I got there, the house was empty. I spoke with a neighbour, and they told me about the lake, so I raced to the lake. It was dark when I arrived, and I was lucky to have another neighbour who told me about the last house, which was where Senna was. I snuck around and found the back of the house, where I listened as they talked about selling Senna and how they were angry that they couldn’t have their doll from when they were little.
Senna was brought into the room, and she was crying, screaming, and fighting to get away. I don’t remember moving or making a conscious effort to go into the house, but the next thing I know, I yelled for Senna to run, and the next thing I know, I was fighting one of them to make sure that Senna had enough time to get away.
After I managed to get away, I raced after Senna, listening as she raced through the forest. I chased up to her until I caught up. We ran for a little while until I heard one of them following us. That was when I decided to hide Senna and race in the opposite direction, ensuring they followed me, not her. I told her that Lachy or Tristan would be coming for her and that she wasn’t allowed to come out until one of us comes back for her.
I ran for quite a while before Ms Carter, and I fought. We traded punches and blows. I managed to get away from Ms. Carter again. I jumped off the cliff. I was hoping that I was going to lose her, but that crazy bitch was waiting for me when I swam to the bank. We once again fought. I was winning, but Lachy pulled me off her and then zip-tied her. After that, we walked back to the house, and I had just entered the tree line when some weirdo grabbed me and held a knife to my neck.
After that, I am not sure what happened. I remember being cold and wanting to see Senna, and then there was nothing until I woke up here.”
“That was everything? Why didn’t you stay with Lachy when you were coming back? Why did you run off?” Tristan asks
“I ran off because I wanted to see Senna the quicker the better, Lachy was bringing Ms Carter, and that bitch walked too slow.”
“She was walking too slow, but that could have been because you beat the ever-loving hell out of her and she could barely walk, I think you broke her leg,” Lachy says with a laugh
“I didn’t break her leg, I just dislocated and then put it back, which would have hurt like shit.” I say laughingly.
“Noted, do not get on the wrong side of you,” Lachy says laughingly.
“It’s more, don’t come between me and my daughter,” I reply
“So, is that everything that happened?” Daniel asked.
“Why, did they do this? I mean, besides what you have already told me. There has to be something else, some other reason for this to happen. They targeted Senna, they wanted her, they kept calling her a replacement. If they wanted a replacement, then it was me that they wanted. Senna was taken because of me.” I gasp out.
“Yes, they wanted you, but they didn’t get you, nor did they get Senna, so you need to forget about it. They have been arrested, and we are investigating everything further,” Daniel says with his authoritative voice.
“I am not going to forget about this, I am going to remember this for the rest of my days. I am going to remember that my daughter was taken, that my daughter was almost sold. It was all because I allowed her to that daycare centre that I was the one that had to work and couldn’t look after her properly I was the one that failed as a mother, and I am also going to remember that I will fight to the death to support and protect my daughter” I growl out.
“We get that, we understand that you want to protect Senna and let me tell you that now that you have me and my family, we will protect you all,” Tristan growls as he grabs my hand.
“We will never let you go without a fight,” Lachy echoes.
“It is ok to have help, you now have a lot of people that will fight for you and to protect you,” Daniel says as he turns and looks tenderly down at Senna.
“Who are you to Senna? Who are you to us?” I snap.
“Does it matter who I am? I mean, does it matter? I am here to ensure that the bad people are held accountable and punished for their actions. I promise you that you don’t have to worry about them. I am going to make sure that they never hurt you again,” Daniel says
“Why? Why Daniel?”
“Maybe we should leave it there for a bit and let Alba rest,” Lachy says
“Yes, let’s just leave it here. We can talk again tomorrow.” Tristan growls
“No, I want to know who Daniel is?”
“Does this conversation have to be had now? Why can’t you get some rest, and we can pick this up tomorrow?” Tristan growls.
“No, no, I want to know why. Why do we matter so much to you, Daniel? It seems that you are taking this as a personal vendetta.”
“Yes, I am taking this personally. I promise you that I will ensure the people responsible are held accountable and that I am your brother. I am her uncle, and I will never allow anyone to hurt you or her again,” Daniel growls.
