Chapter 646 We Are Not Friends

"I never said we shouldn't call the cops. It's really up to Victoria. Victoria, do you want to call the cops?"

Alaric shrugged and gave Victoria a smug look, like he already knew what she'd say.

Victoria frowned and stayed quiet for a long time. Finally, she looked up and said, "No, don't call the cops. Alaric, I want everyone to keep their mouths shut. If I find out anyone's been talking, they'll regret it."

"Alright, alright, I'll make sure everyone stays quiet."

Alaric nodded and went off to spread Victoria's message.

I watched Victoria. She met my gaze without flinching. When our eyes locked, she said, "I have my reasons. Thanks for your help. Please don't tell Matthew about this, okay?"

I shook my head and said, "I don't like gossiping, and Matthew doesn't like hearing about this stuff either."

"Thank you. I don't like owing people. Is there anything I can do to repay you? If you're going to ask me to leave Matthew, forget it."

Victoria looked at me calmly.

I snorted and said, "I'm not that petty. If you want to repay me, I can't think of anything right now. I'll let you know when I do."

"Alright."

Since Victoria didn't want to call the cops, the filming continued. With Alaric's warning, the crew kept quiet about what had happened. No one asked what happened to the guy who almost assaulted Victoria, whether he was let go or detained. I was curious, but since Victoria wasn't pursuing it, I decided not to stir the pot.

I didn't agree with Victoria's decision not to call the cops, but I could understand it from her perspective. She was a famous actress. If word got out that she was almost assaulted, the story would get twisted into her actually being assaulted. No one would care about the truth; people just wanted to hear the most sensational version.

Plus, I had a hunch that Victoria didn't want Matthew or Carol to find out. She was afraid it would change how they saw her. I could tell she genuinely liked Matthew.

"Being a star isn't easy," I muttered as I watched Victoria follow Alaric's directions on set.

Thankfully, the afternoon's filming went smoothly. Once Victoria finished her scenes, my assistant duties were done. As we were leaving, Alaric approached me and handed me a business card.

"You've got potential. Interested in becoming a star? I can make you famous."

I was taken aback but quickly shook my head.

"That's a shame. My contact info is on the card. If you change your mind, give me a call."

Alaric pointed to his phone number on the card. I nodded politely, but as soon as he left, I tossed the card in the trash. I had no interest in becoming a star, especially after seeing what Victoria went through today.

Right now, my priority was managing my company and watching Olivia grow up.

On the ride back, Victoria closed her eyes to rest but suddenly asked, "When are you heading back to Skyhaven?"

"In the next few days. Why?"

I was puzzled by her sudden interest in my schedule.

"I'm going back with you."

"But I don't want to go with you, Victoria. Just because I helped you today doesn't mean we're friends. We're not friends, got it?"

I replied irritably. If anything, Victoria and I were rivals. There was no way I was going back to Skyhaven with her.
