Chapter 643 Differences with the Director

I followed Victoria to the dressing room and saw a swarm of people doing her makeup and fitting her with outfits. It finally hit me just how much pampering a female celebrity got.

Victoria was a pro, and the shoot moved along quickly. The director, Alaric Kingsley, seemed pretty happy, except for a disagreement over one particular outfit.

I noticed it was pretty revealing. Alaric wanted Victoria to wear it and stretch like she just woke up in bed. But from where I stood, if she stretched, she might expose herself. Victoria clearly got that too and didn't want to wear it.

"Victoria, this outfit really shows off your figure and fits the visual vibe we're going for. I know it's a bit much, but it's all for the sake of art," Alaric tried to convince her. Hearing that made me uneasy. Maybe it was because I was not from their world, but "art" sounded like a lame excuse to me.

"Alaric, I don't think revealing clothes equals art. If you want a morning wake-up feel, this pajama set is more suitable. It's cute," Victoria said, holding up a more conservative pajama set with a bunny hat. It did look adorable.

"Whatever," Alaric grumbled, clearly annoyed. Victoria, unfazed, changed into the bunny pajamas and shot the scene.

"Too much movement, do it again."

"Not enough movement this time, do it again."

"Doesn't look right, do it again."

Alaric made Victoria shoot the same scene over a dozen times. From the screen, I couldn't see much difference; they all looked great to me. I had no idea what Alaric's standards were.

Finally, after nearly thirty takes, the scene was approved. It was lunchtime, so Alaric called for a break until the afternoon.

I walked over to Victoria and handed her a water bottle. She took a sip and casually asked, "Isn't it strange?"

I knew she was asking if I found it odd that the scene needed so many takes. I shook my head and said, "I don't get it, so nothing seems strange to me."

"The bliss of ignorance," Victoria quipped, never missing a chance to insult me. I let it slide; after all, I was her assistant for the day. Whatever she said, I would just go along with it.

Victoria didn't want to appear in front of everyone in her pajamas, so she asked me to get the lunch boxes. I curiously asked, "Don't you celebrities usually have your own meals prepared?"

Victoria snapped, "My assistant had to leave unexpectedly. You're my assistant today. Did you prepare anything?"

Alright, I was an inexperienced assistant and hadn't thought about preparing lunch. So, we had no choice but to eat the crew's lunch boxes. I picked up three lunch boxes, first heading to the parking lot to deliver one to Maria. She was napping peacefully when I arrived, so I left the food without waking her.

I left a note for Maria to remind her to eat when she woke up, then headed back to find Victoria. When I reached the door and saw it was closed, I was puzzled. I remembered leaving it open. Assuming Victoria had closed it, I tried to push it open, but it wouldn't budge. I pushed harder, but it still didn't move. I realized the door was locked.

I knocked and said, "Victoria, open up. It's me."

No response, and no one opened the door. I frowned, wondering what was going on. She had said she was hungry and asked me to get lunch, but now she was nowhere to be found.

Just as I was about to give up and eat my lunch first, I heard a faint sound from inside the room. It sounded like Victoria, but it was so quiet I couldn't be sure.
