Chapter 647 Another Blank Check

Chapter 647 Another Blank Check

"You two are never gonna work out. If you could just drop this obsession, we could be friends. I know you're a good person," Victoria said, her eyes wide open as she looked at me.

"Sorry, I can't just let it go. Now, why don't you close your eyes and get some rest? I'm feeling a bit tired myself," I replied, closing my eyes and tuning her out.

The next few days were pretty uneventful. I spent my time idly in the office, and just when I thought I couldn't take the boredom anymore, Tyler finally came back. He looked exhausted, but his return meant I was no longer needed here. I had Maria book a ticket for the same day, and I headed back to Skyhaven.

As I boarded the plane, I saw Victoria in first class waving at me. She pointed to the seat next to her and said, "I upgraded your seat. Come sit here."

I couldn't be bothered to respond, so I ignored her. As Maria passed by her, she scoffed, "Who cares about your upgrade?"

I didn't want to deal with Victoria, but she insisted on sticking around. Seeing that I didn't want to upgrade, she swapped seats with the passenger next to me, who was more than happy to move to first class.

I glanced at Victoria sitting beside me and said irritably, "Aren't you afraid I'll call out your name?"

Victoria shrugged nonchalantly. "It's fine. There aren't many people on this plane who know me. Not many will ask for an autograph."

I was at a loss for how to handle Victoria's persistence, so I turned my head to look out the window at the clouds.

Even then, Victoria kept talking. "Emily, Alaric approached me earlier. He wants to make you a star. Aren't you interested?"

I ignored her, so she repeated herself. I sighed and said, "Listen, superstar, not everyone wants to be famous. I'm not interested. Also, we're not on good terms, so please don't disturb my rest. Otherwise, I'll call the flight attendant."

"Emily, I've told you, if you let go of your unrealistic fantasies, we can be friends. I'm grateful you saved me, and I want to be friends with you," Victoria insisted.

I laughed. Not long ago, another girl had asked me to give up on Matthew.

I told her, "Look, I had this same conversation with another girl who felt like you do. The thing is, me stepping aside isn't what matters here. It's all about who Matthew actually wants to be with. If he falls for you, he'll choose you regardless of what I do. And if he doesn't... well, I can't just turn off my feelings either. We can't control who we have feelings for, you know?"

"Is it about money? Name your price, and I'll meet your demands. Money or anything else, I can give it to you," Victoria said, pulling out a blank check and handing it to me. "This is a blank check. You can fill in any amount. Just stop seeing Matthew, and it's yours."

A blank check? I looked at the check in Victoria's hand, feeling exasperated. Another woman had offered me a blank check before, but that one was from Horizon Innovations Group. This one was from Starlight Productions Group.

"What's so great about Matthew that makes you all go crazy?" I asked, puzzled.

Victoria countered, "If he's not great, why are you with him? And who else is as interested in Matthew as I am?"

"There are many like you. And you seem to have misunderstood something," I said, shaking my head and then smugly continuing, "Matthew and I are together because he pursued me, not the other way around. Got it?"
