THE ARREST
THE ARREST
Savannah’s POV
You know what’s worse than defeat, having to hide from the world.
This wasn’t the life I envisioned for myself. This was what I envisioned for Madison. A life in the shadows.
She was supposed to remain hidden in that basement until the baby was due then I’ll have no use for her but then Michael launched a search party for her and figured out our location.
I can’t believe she meant that much to him and I’m still trying to wrap my head around how the fact that he figured out our hidden spot. That man sure is tactical.
The night Michael and his group raided the house where we were keeping Madison captive, I was in our other mansion. One of our loyal staff, Damon got out just in time to get there and warn me.
Meanwhile, my parents were not lucky. They were in the house when the raid happened and neither I nor Damon knows what became of them since then. Since Damon has no information on my parents, I don’t know whether they are dead or like me, they were hiding somewhere perhaps in one of our illegal mines.
Thanks to Damon, I’ve been getting hints about the outside world through his visits and the newspapers he brings.
Until I’m off the security radar, I can’t travel or risk going out.
In case you’re wondering where I am, I’m in one of the stores owned by my family. The store was a dump house where we kept stuff we didn’t need. Since it wasn’t registered as a legal property, it’s safe to say no one knows about it except Damon.
The location is shrewd.
When he came to me that night when our house was being raided by mercenaries, we knew they would find me sooner so
Damon put me in a car with the little stuff I could collect and drove me right here.
It turns out that my parents had spoken to him months before our plan rolled out. He made them a promise to look after me in case things go south. They told him to bring me here.
So far, Damon has been making sure I’m comfortable. He drops by daily with food and basic supplies. On my part, I’ve not been finding it easy. Being here for six months with no access to sunlight was already driving me insane but this is a sacrifice I must endure until my aim is achieved.
I’ll go out.
I’ll face the world and I’ll take my chances but before then, I must ensure that Michael and Madison are ruined, no matter how long it takes.
Despite the smear article I facilitated with the help of Frazier, they still went ahead and got married. No problem.
I’m sure they are probably scared to the bone marrow after Damon trailed them to their honeymoon location and dropped that old picture.
I’m not just going to stick to cheap games to get on their nerves. I have a bigger plan. In a short while, all of them shall perish.
I got up and threw the half-eaten apple in my hand to the floor and walked to the closet.
Damon had better get here on time to clean the place. Also, I need more clothes. I might not go out but I still need to look pretty in my dresses. I can’t believe I’ve been doing my hair and nails myself for the last six months.
Gosh, I could die from exhaustion but nothing will give me satisfaction than the news of Michael and Madison found dead in that little lake house of there’s whose location Damon managed to figure out.
Soon, they’ll visit.
I was hoping they’d spend their honeymoon there but they didn’t. I can’t believe they left the night Damon was supposed to kill them both in that country house. Nevertheless, I’ll wait for them to be alone, unguarded and I’m sure that time will come in the lake house.
They’ll require privacy. They are newlyweds after all.
Suddenly, a knock landed on the door, crashing into my thoughts. I sighed.
Finally, Damon is here with my perfume. I hope he got the exact jasmine extract I requested.
I went to the door and didn’t open it.
Something wasn’t just right. Damon never knocks and when he does, it is to confirm whether the door was locked from the inside because he had a spare key.
This time, I was getting repeated knocks on my door. I had bolted it from the inside.
Soon, the knocks transcended to loud bangs and I heard voices muffled behind the closed door.
I began to panic.
What was going on?
Damon would never knock like that and neither would he bring company.
While I was trying to wrap my head around the situation, the door came off with a loud bang that sent me flying across the room.
An explosion.
I managed to sit up and began to cough out smoke. The door was completely detached from the wall and then the sunrays immediately penetrated the room, mixing with the smoke.
I staggered up and saw people walking into the room. Damon was the first to get inside with his hands cuffed behind his head.
My eyes cleared as reality dawned on me. I’ve been found.
Soon, two police officers and other men dressed in black cargo pants walked into the room.
“She’s here!” The older police officer said.
I began to roam my eyes around the room as shock coursed through my veins.
Damon! Had he betrayed me?
I turned to him but tears were streaming down his cheeks. “They trailed me down here, I’m sorry, Savanna..
The police officer knocked him off with the edge of his gun before Damon could finish speaking. He fell with a thud on his knees.
I turned to the door and watched Michael emerge. My eyes widened in horror.
Michael stepped into the room with a smile on his face, a victorious smile.
“Hello, Savanah. We meet again!”
I was completely rendered speechless. The other officer came forward and reached for my hand.
I began to tremble. “No! This can’t happen. It can’t be. Michael and Madison must die,” I yelled.
“You’ve gone crazy,” the officer said and tried to drag me out of the room but I didn’t move.
“I’m dreaming. I think I’m dreaming,” I said.
Michael walked up to me with an angry expression. He looked me straight in the face. “You’re not dreaming Savannah. It took long but we finally caught you. Thanks to Frazier’s intel on this property and we didn’t even do much because we spotted your agent by the road and followed him down here,” he moved closer and lifted his hands like he was going to strangle me. “Brace up. You’re about to face the law. You’ll pay for what you did to my wife,”
My head began to spin. Frazier? I thought he was my father’s friend and a worthy ally.
“You’re under arrest, Miss Green for kidnapping, attempted murder, and being an accomplice to the illicit activities your parents have been conducting,” the polic
e chief said.
Two officers began to pull me out of the room. I was cold as ice.
No!
This can not happen.
