Chapter 17

She was on the bed when she got a text. She was not expecting any message from Larry. She saw the text, he was asking her for lunchtime with him. He dropped the address for her.

When she got dressed, she replied to him that she was already on her way to the restaurant. She got to the restaurant and saw that the restaurant was empty. She wondered why, she looked at the address he sent and saw that she was not in the wrong place. She went to get a seat. Soon after she started hearing footsteps approaching. She turned and saw that it was Larry.

She stood up, stretched out her hands, and wanted to shake him but Larry pulled her in a hug instead.

He pulled away from the hug. “ Hope you like the place, I picked this place because they are one of the best”

“ I have not been here before”

“ Oh really? But Nick does come to this place, never seen you with him, even before your marriage the him”

Kate smiled. She had promised herself that she would not talk about that part of her to anyone. She had told Nick because he deserved to know.

“ Oh that, we were keeping it low, we did not want the general public to know about it,” she said with a smile on her face.

Larry smiled too. He did not want to press it further, he let it slide.

They continued to eat. When they were done, he took her to a jewelry shop where he got her a bracelet

It was so pretty. She took it home. When she got home, she had to keep the bracelet in a very secure place, she did not want Nick to know about the bracelet.

She would smile at Nick while replying to Larry's messages. Nick was beginning to drift apart from her. She would go to him for a little outing like the way Larry was always available to her for outings but he would turn her down that he was very busy and would not have the time for that.

She was beginning to get fed up. Staying at home and going shopping was becoming a routine she was getting tired of. She got dressed and decided to go see Nick in the office.

When she got there, she went inside and met the secretary. She did not want to allow her inside but she had to push her way through.

She saw Jane on his lap, she shook her legs as they appeared to not carry her anymore.

“ What is going on here?” she asked weakly. Jane turned and saw that it was Kate, she smiled at her without attempting to stand up from his legs.

Nick also did not make a move. He was still seated, he looked at her.

“ You should leave, go to the house, and wait for me” That was what he told her. She stood there not wanting to believe that he had asked her to leave his office. She thought it was all part of her imagination.

“ I said you should leave this place” he then yelled at her. That was when she realized that it was Nick who was speaking and she was not imagining things.

She opened the door and left. She got home and began breaking things. Sjee did not scream or cry. She sat on the bed and waited for his arrival.

She heard the sound of the door opening. She rushed out of the room to see who it was. it was Nick, she went back into the room.

She was there with a popcorn in her hand, taking it slowly.

Nick entered the room. No words were being said.

“ You know you should have married her instead of doing what you are doing” she finally broke the silence.

Nick sat on the bed.

“ You are not innocent as well, you think I do not know?” He turned and faced her, he was already angry.

“ Know about what exactly,” she says on the defensive.

He went to his bag and brought out some pictures from it. He threw the pictures at her. She held the pictures looking at it.

“ How did you get these pictures of me? You asked someone to follow me around?” She was surprised that Larry would do that.

“ No, I did not ask anyone to follow you around, I did not do that, this was someone kind enough to let me know that you are seeing a man behind my back” he fumed.

“ This is nonsense, we only had lunch together and that was it. Besides, he knows I am married to you”

“ I do not care. Jane was kind enough to let me know about you and him. This is who you are going to meet?”

“ And you go to meet with Jane? Jane was kind enough to let you know. I get it. You want to believe what Jane has to say rather than what I have to explain right?” She left the room. She went to the poolside. She was there when she got a message, it was from Larry. He had asked her how her day was.

She texted him back saying that it was perfect.

Her stomach made a noise, she had not eaten the whole afternoon and it was night already. She went back to the house to eat something. She got to the table and asked the maid to get her food for her.

She could not eat much, so she stood up and left the dining table.

She was all dressed, she wanted to go give Jane a piece of her mind. She got there and saw that she was in her office building. She had gotten that information from Nick's phone. She walked in.

Jane saw her and gasped. She was expecting her to show up, she must have seen the pictures and Nick must have told her that they were coming from her.

She adjusted herself, waiting for what she had to say.
