Chapter 12

I was seated alone at the office when I heard some footsteps approaching. It was to where I was seated. I turned and I saw that it was Jane, I frowned. I wondered what she had come to do. Does she usually come to Nick's office like this?

" What do you want?" I asked her. She smiled at me, her eyes going from my head to my toes.

" I have nothing against you dear, and I have not come here for you, I only came to see if there were humans here" What she said pissed me off but I did not want to cause a fight. I went back to where I had sat.

I heard her leave the room, I quickly stood up from my seat and slowly followed her behind. She got to Nick's office and went in.

" Hey handsome"

" What are you doing here" Nick looked surprised to see her

" I have missed you greatly" She tried to touch him but he pushed her hands away from himself.

Nick got seated down, his face was turning red as a result of her presence in his office.

" Please leave my office," he said to her, and she smiled at him. She was not going to leave. She went to him and sat on his legs. She raised his face and tried to kiss him, Nick quickly removed his face as he stood up making her stagger.

" What was that for?" She asked him, looking so confused.

" That was for you to leave this minute or I call the security on you, do not make me use force to push you outside," he said to her, meaning every word.

" Okay fine, I will, but if you ever need anything, call me" She walked out of the office.

Nick began to ask himself why he kept letting her come close to him. He had wanted to let her go completely but it was looking like a hard nut to crack.

He went outside and gave instructions to the security men that they should not let her into the office premises ever again.

Jane went into her car, she began to cry out of her eyes. She was embarrassed that Nick had done that to her. She remembered how she was Nick's only woman, ever since he got married to Kate, he had turned his back on get, she never knew that a day would come when Nick would throw her out of his office and even had to threaten her with the securities.

" All because of her?" She screamed in her call. She drove home and began to think of something to do to make Nick come back to her…

Nick and Kate drove home in silence. Nick knew that something was wrong with Kate. He let it be till they got home.

He tapped her and asked her what was wrong.

" Nothing, there is nothing wrong," she said to him.

" Do not give me that attitude, you are cold and you look sad," he said.

" Well, that is because I saw Jane in your office today" she finally voiced out what her problem was.

" There, I knew it. You saw her right, I asked her to leave and I had to instruct the security never to let her in again, she would not bother us again" he said to her.

" Why do I feel it is not true"

" You should believe me, I did that for you"

She decided to accept that he was telling the truth. She left him and went upstairs to the bedroom. She lay on the bed as memories from Nick's office flashed through her mind.

" I hope he is speaking the truth," she said to herself as her eyes closed and she drifted off to sleep.

Nick came into the bedroom. He looked at her and wondered why he would be with Jane when he had her. He went to her and kissed her cheeks.

Nick was already preparing to go to the office. He got dressed. He left a note on the table. He got into his car and drove to the office. He got to the office and it was quiet, he called Jay and asked him to bring in the reports. He brought the reports and Nick looked into it. He was impressed with his progress. He smiled at it.

" This is a good one, I am impressed with the progress we have made so far"

Jay smiled, it gave him the impression that he had done a good job.

Kate woke up but could not find Nick. She went downstairs and called his name but no answer was heard.

" He already left for work, ma'am," one of the maids said to her.

She went back into the room. She looked at the time, her eyes left the clock and she saw that there was a piece of paper on the table, she took it up and read it.

It was Nick who wrote it. He has asked her to stay back at home or go anywhere she wants to go. He told her to take the credit card with her if she would be going out. She smiled at the letter. She took her phone and called him. He picked up.

" Thank you for the letter," she said to him.

" You are welcome, do not forget the credit card, there is money in it," he said to her.

She thanked him again before she ended the call. She began to think of the places to visit. She found nothing, so she decided to call up Sara. Sara knew a lot of places in the City.

Sara agreed to come over to the house. Kate went to get ready. She took her bath. After that, she got dressed. She applied light makeup on.

She wore her jewelry, Nick had got them for her.

She was already done when Sara came into the house. She ran and hugged Sara.

Sara looked around the house. It was her first time there.

" This is beautiful"

" Yes, Nick has a big beautiful abode," Kate bragged.

They stepped out. The security was behind them.

" We are just going out to have fun," Kate said, she was surprised that the security man was after them.

" Nick asked me to follow you anywhere you go for security reasons"

" All of you"

" Just three of us"

They got into the car, Kate would have loved to go alone. Kate and Sara entered the same car with one of the men, while the rest entered into a different car. They sped off.

They got to where they wanted to be. They came down from the car, the security was behind them, a little far away from them.

" This place is beautiful, I have never been here"

" Why would you be here, when your father locked you up in that hole of a house, thank your stars that you are out of there and now seeing what an earth looks like," Sara said.

Kate hit her shoulders playfully as they laughed.

They got inside and did their hair, it was a cool feeling.
