Chapter 90
Landon sat, staring at Martin. His memory had been truly refreshed. He shook his head. "You mean to say that this same Greg, is the man that did this experiment on me?"
Martin nodded. "Exactly my point. So the directors of the agency think that you will do a better job in bringing him down."
Landon sighed. "My sister hasn't been rescued yet."
"Someone else will go and bring her out. That's what we're going to do. They probably expect you to go, so we won't send you but someone else. The fact remains that there are some things we are yet to uncover. But until then, we can do nothing but bid our time and watch."
Landon shrugged. "Alright. I shall return home then. But I'm expecting my sister to be back at home tonight."
"She will be back tonight, but she will be under Phil's care and not at home. She might have been drugged or also experimented on, and we can't just send her without proper tests." Martin corrected.
Landon sighed deeply. No matter how hard he tried to avoid these dangerous people, they always found a way to meet him. Maybe he was destined to be a part of this life from the onset.
"If that's the case, then there's not an issue." Landon said. He got up, shook Martin's hand, and left.
Martin remained in his seat for a while, then he got a call from Carly.
"My father has told me where the tablet is; I've found it, and he's with it at the clinic. Could you come for a while?" She asked.
Martin shrugged. Alright, Carly, I'll be there soon."
Since the clinic was beside the agency, he simply walked there. As he got in, he noticed the man in a wheelchair. He scowled a little.
"He's not injured; he just needs some time to rest his limbs." Carly explained. "Doctor Phil suggested it."
Martin nodded. "Where is it? The video proof."
James handed the tablet to Martin, who opened it and watched the video. Martin sent it to his phone and returned the tablet to James. Holding the phone up, he nodded at him and signaled for Carly to follow him out.
Carly followed Martin out of the clinic and stood outside with him. "What's the matter?"
"You have to stay close by." Martin replied. "This case is delicate, and we will offer your family protection and keep them safe, but you have to stay close by so that we can easily reach out to you."
Carly nodded. "There's no problem, sir. I'll stay at my friend's place until whenever you need me. But do what you can for my parents."
Martin took the proof with him and left Carly. He returned to the agency and went straight to meet the directors.
"Sirs, ma'am, I brought proof of the murder of a certain billionaire business owner who died some years ago." Martin said. "Almost twenty years ago."
"Why bring it up now?" The lady asked.
Martin knew that the question was coming soon, so he had already prepared. "Well, one of our agents is being threatened by the people involved in this. The man in particular who committed the crime framed our agent's father and even attacked them."
"Attacked them." She repeated. "What did our agent do?"
"She fought back. She actually got wounded during the process, but she killed the majority of the attackers, and the two who are still alive are here with us." Martin explained.
The lady nodded. "What billionaire case is this? Is it with the police, and what do we need to know about this?"
One, Mr. Clark. He ran a company, and he was popularly known as President Cee." Martin said. "He was known for his generosity. The man in question, the agent's father, was his driver. He had returned one day from work only to find that he forgot something he got for his daughter, and he returned to get it when he noticed the scene."
"The scene? I believe you have the proof with you."
"Yes." Martin nodded. He quickly connected his phone to the big projector and played the video for him. "This is it."
After watching it, the lady smirked a little. "Alright, you have our permission to carry on with justice. Send this to the police and have them arrest the assistant. Also, send it to the billionaire's son. He has to stop pressing charges against our agent, or he will go in for it."
Martin nodded. Alright, ma'am, I'll do just that."
He left the office and called the IGO to inform him of the updates. He forwarded the evidence to the man and told him exactly what his boss had requested. Once he was done with all of that, he called Carly.
"Hey, I've informed the police about this. Make sure that, for tonight, you remain in the clinic. Don't leave until Gary has been apprehended. Until then, you're still unsafe." Martin warned.
"Oh, alright." Carly agreed. "Thank you for this, Martin. I would have simply gone to the club to work a little. But since you asked, perhaps I should stay back."
"Yes please." Martin emphasized. "You have to be safe. You don't exactly have a means of contacting the agency should you be in trouble, except through your mobile phone, and that's not always smart."
"I figured." Carly whispered. "Does it mean that if I'm not an exclusive agent, I cannot get the smartwatch? I have seen Landon wear something like that."
"Oh, you have." Martin murmured. "When you're going on a mission, you will be given something else."
"Oh. Thank you, Martin." Carly said it gratefully. "You're so helpful."
"Yes." Martin agreed. "And in the meantime, you might also work with Landon again."
"Huh? You know he won't accept it." Carly shook her head. "You very well know how mad he's going to be about this."
"This is not just about him. There's more to this. Somehow, the two villains in your stories are related to each other. How is what I'm yet to know?" Martin exposed. "However, Landon is unaware of this, and he must remain unaware."
"Right." Carly scoffed. "Like you said the last time, I still went ahead to tell him. Pray that I do not see Landon anytime soon. Else, I shall tell him."
