Chapter 84

Landon sat in his office, miserable without Carly, when he heard a commotion going on outside of his office. He heard Noah yell; he was not around, and he sighed. What did Rose want again this time around?

Sighing, he tapped the telecom button, signaling to Noah to let them in. Noah's voice went low instantly, and the door barged open, revealing a distraught Dorris.

"Landon, have you seen Rose?" She demanded.

Landon scowled a little. "What do you mean by have I seen Rose? Does she live with me? Aren't you both always together? Practicing medicine together and still modeling, shopping, and living a celebrity lifestyle?"

"This is not the time for jokes, Landon." Dorris yelled. "Rose is missing! Her phone isn't reachable. I'm afraid that maybe she was abducted."

"What is going on?" Landon demanded, slamming his desk. "What have you done with my sister?"

"Done with your sister? I did nothing! Look, for the past week, I noticed someone tracking us, and every time I brought it up, she said I was hallucinating and said that perhaps spending time with you so much has started to affect me in another way."

"What the hell?" Landon whispered.

"So I decided to keep quiet about it and rather watch. Suddenly, we were at the mall one morning when a stranger bumped into her. He sounded so nice, and Rose instantly began to catch up with him, as if they had known each other for a long time. But then that would be impossible because I've been friends with Rose for the longest."

Then, in the afternoon, when we had a break from work and went to grab a light lunch of donuts and coffee, we bumped into him again. He said his company was down the road, and he only wanted to take a cup of coffee to reduce his stress. He asked Rose if she had time to visit the company, and she said she had some other things to do and maybe later."

"I tried to talk to her, but she didn't listen to me; rather, she got mad at me, and we separated. She returned to the hospital, while I decided to walk down the street. There was no company there." Dorris said.

Landon scowled. He could already tell that Rose had been abducted, and it was all because of her stupidity.

"I knew that she was in danger then, so I hurried to find her, but I couldn't find time to talk with her until after work for the day. Then we decided to go to the club, get a drink, and perhaps settle our dispute. The guy walked into the club not even ten minutes after we walked in. I wanted to talk, but we had just settled, and I decided to keep quiet and watch them."

"Well, I don't know what happened. The guy and Rose kept talking and laughing, almost as if I wasn't there. I decided to excuse myself and pee. By the time I returned, neither of them were there. I tried calling Rose, and she said she was fine, and if she didn't return early enough, I could go to sleep before her."

"But it's already noon, and she isn't back yet." Dorris whined.

Landon sighed. "It's alright, Dorris. You can go. I will look into it."

Dorris nodded. "I'm just so sad. I don't know what to do anymore. I have tried several times to stop Rose from hanging out with creepy guys. And honestly, the guy seemed a little familiar, trust me."

Landon stared at her. "Dorris, Noah will escort you home. Go and rest; don't go out, and try to be safe. If anything happens where you feel weird, beep me instantly. Don't call; beep me. If I can't reach you, I will send Noah, okay?"

Dorris didn't seem like she liked the idea, but there was absolutely nothing she could do but accept it the way it was. She nodded, feigning fright. She walked out slowly, and Noah escorted her, having heard Landon's promise to her. For him, Landon couldn't have decided to punish him any other way.

Landon waited for Noah to get back, then he packed up and left the company. He drove down to the agency hurriedly and instantly marched into Martin's office. Martin was quite surprised to see him since they hadn't exactly spoken since after Carly's mission with him.

"Landon? My my." Martin said.

Landon sighed. "Now's not the time. My sister has been kidnapped; I need you to help me track her location. If anything, Santino could have taken her."

"And what will you do? Appear as an agent and prove to them who you are." Martin demanded.

"No." Landon shook his head. "I'm going to rescue my sister. Rose doesn't know about my secret identity, and if I keep saving my loved ones as my secret self, it won't be hard for them to easily notice a slip."

Martin nodded. "So Carly finding out wasn't my fault then?"

"Let's leave Carly out of this, please." Landon said it straightforwardly. "Help me track her so that I can find her."

Martin nodded. He began to work on his laptop. Landon bent over to see what made him react that way. "Where's this?"

"It's here in California. But there's an issue." Martin stated.

"What issue?" Landon asked.

"This man... He's a notorious drug lord and might be in close company with Santino. You know, all drug lords are linked. Especially to the biggest ones. I didn't want us to go after this one yet until we had captured Santino. But... This is bad."

Landon scoffed. "Trust Rose to get herself into such a huge mess with her stupidity! I'm killing that girl after saving her. She does nothing but end up in stupid and silly ass troubles."

"Be calm, Landon." Martin said. "Listen, if you want to go in here, you have to go as a normal man. But if anything happens, make sure to send a message to us. Me especially. Maybe not with your phone, but you can tap the emergency button on your smartwatch. This man is not to be messed with." Martin warned.

Landon nodded.
