Chapter 82

An older man sat in a well furnished office, arms folded on his desk with his chin resting on his folded hands. He had a sinister look on his face and it was something he was used to having. He received news that the case of the dead billionaire resurfaced as the family got a video proof of the murderer. He could not stand that happening so he ensured to convince them that it was his driver who had murdered him.

He also instigated the attack but what he never expected was for the gang members to be beaten up and locked away. Who else would be in their house if not the daughter? But that frail girl could not even do such an evil thing, could she? Where could she get such energy from? As to beat up so many men?

He remembered that night when he had sent his cohort to strangle his friend. He didn't want anyone to suspect him. He knew that he would easily be recognised in any video so he had to use someone else. So that even if it is brought to light, no evidence would be against him. Smirking, he remembered everything.

Clark had been a fool. Yes, he was into hard drugs and human trafficking and the likes, but it wasn't in Clark's job to ruin his business. He had warned him severally to stop it or he would suffer. Clark was just too stubborn, claiming that because a moral business worked for him meant it could work for everyone else too? He wasn't all about the money! He wanted fame, he wanted to be feared, and that was why he ventured into the mafia world. Apparently, in the mafia world, there are a lot of things to do to become well known and feared.

And he had no choice but to do it. Clark just kept getting in the way. He had to fulfill his promise to ruin his business, and what better way than to take him out completely? He chuckled darkly again. He had simply connived with Gary, Clark's assistant and showed him his kingdom, what Gary could get if he joined him, and what evil could befall him if he didn't.

To his surprise, the man was more than ready to get rid of his boss. Apparently, Gary also had some personal issue with Clark. Why would Clark prefer a mere driver to him, who had served him for so long?

It was too easy to have Clark wiped out. But his main concern was this family. Well, even if the truth came out, it would be Gary going in for it and not him. Hence, he was safe.

Brushing the thoughts to the side, he realized that there was a consistent knock on his door, scowling, he answered sharply.

"Come in."

The door opened, revealing Santino, one of his subordinates who seemed to be doing very well in his business until lately. Nevertheless, he offered the man a small smile.

"Welcome." He greeted. "Have a seat, will you?"

Santino sat down. His expression said it all, what was going through his mind. He wasn't happy at all. Greg chuckled once more.

"You look like a baby who's candy was stolen." Greg commented. "How's business, my friend?"

"Business is terrible. Of late, the government keeps seizing my goods." Santino complained.

Greg nodded. "For how long has it been going on?"

"For weeks now." Santino said. "And I've lost almost a hundred containers."

Greg whistled lowly. "I didn't know my men had shipped in so much already."

Santino shrugged. "Someone keeps reporting me to the government, the police, now even the navy officers are on my tail."

"Oh." Greg chuckled. "more serious than I thought. Have you stopped to consider if you have a mole?"

Santino shook his head. "I have searched all my men, there are no traitors. Everyone seemed to be plain as white paper. But I do know of someone who is doing anything in his capacity to frustrate me."

"Oh, who is it then?" Greg demanded.

"Some geek agent of some sort. He attacked me when I was in Florida for some club meeting and he killed all my guards and locked me up." Santino said.

"All your guards?" Greg repeated. "Were they less than ten?"

Santino scoffed. "I'm telling you about how hundreds of guards that surrounded us were killed."

"Woah." Greg whistled again. "How did this happen? Care to share?"

"Well, the man seems to be a weird person. He has some special abilities. He can heal very fast, no matter how deep the injury is. You might only just see the blood stains but no injury. Also, he has some super strength and is super fast too. Such a weird human being."

Greg's interest was piqued instantly. "Why, I'm starting to like this mister. He's so capable."

"Greg, that's not the main point here. You're not focusing. I'm coming to you to help me, I need to sell drugs otherwise my empire which I've so hardly built would crash. You know how hard it is to regain a lost position in the mafia world."

Greg nodded twice. "I have heard you, Santino. And I will help you... But..."

"But...what?"

"But I need that young man you spoke about. Think of something, a way you could send him to me. I need to experiment on him, I need to know why he has such special abilities. Such discovery could be a huge change in the medical world."

Santino nodded and got up to leave. Greg was a man that no one could mess with. But now, how could he find Landon for him?
