Chapter 84

“Oh my. I didn't notice you were standing there.” I said shyly, and he just looked at me, smiled faintly and turned around.

“Breakfast will soon be served.” I said, following him.

“It's fine, I'll skip breakfast today. I have an urgent meeting to attend to.” He replied and I was sincerely surprised because on a normal day, he doesn't give a damn about me. Even when I try to talk to him, he'll just shut me off but here he was telling me that he had a meeting and would skip breakfast.

“Did you hear what I said?” He asked me and I snapped back out of my thoughts.

“Yes, Yes, I heard you.” I replied and right then, Kelvin walked in.

“Good morning, ma'am.” He greeted me with a smile, making Sorin raise his eyebrows as he looked at the both of us.

Good morning, Kelvin.” I replied with a smile too.

“Sir, the car is ready.” He told Sorin and took his work bag from him, while Sorin nodded in acknowledgement.

“I'll see you later, I guess.” Sorin said awkwardly and walked away, while I just stared at his retreating back, confused.

“Is something going on today? Or did something happen? Why is he acting all strange and unusual?” I thought to myself.

I was still in my thoughts when the chef announced that breakfast was ready.

“Should I set the table?” He asked.

“Yes, please. But just set it for me alone, Sorin has left already.” I replied to him, and he immediately nodded and went back into the kitchen, while I went back into the room to brush my teeth. I had always hated the idea of eating before brushing my teeth. So, I would always brush before and after eating.

In a few minutes, I was downstairs and my food was already set on the table and so I sat to eat, while I thought about all that was suddenly going on.

In Sorin's car.

“Boss?” Kelvin called him, as he looked at him through the rear view mirror.

“What is it?” Sorin asked, knowing what he was about to talk about.

“You look somehow disturbed. Like you have a lot on your mind. Are you okay?” He asked him but he remained quiet.

“I'm fine.” He muttered after a moment of silence.

“We both know that's a lie.” Kelvin said and Sorin went mute once again but Kelvin didn't stop staring at him at intervals, through the rear view mirror.

Sorin noticed Kelvin didn't stop staring at him from the mirror and soon looked in the mirror too.

“What is it, Kelvin?” He asked.

“Well, I should be asking you. You're the one who looks like you have so much on your mind but you don't know how to say it.” Kelvin replied, shrugging even as he drove.

“Whatever man!” Sorin hissed.

“Come on, man. Talk to me.” He urged. “Is this about Mrs Andrea?” He asked with a wink and Sorin eyed him.

“What if it's about her? Do you have a solution?” Sorin asked.

“Well, I don't know what the problem is yet. Maybe if you tell me, I might have a solution. Who knows.” He replied.

“Come on, you know you can actually talk to me, right? Is it about Mrs Andrea?” Kelvin asked further.

“Yes! It's about her.” Sorin answered.

“I knew it. I guessed right. So what is going on?” Kelvin asked.

“There is something about her, I can't seem to place it and it is stressing me out.” Sorin said.

“Something about her? What do you mean by that?” Kelvin asked him and seeing as he wasn't ready to talk about it yet, he sighed, “I believe you'll be able to figure it out soon. You shouldn't stress yourself too much. Stress is not good for your health, you know that right?” Kelvin said, trying to make him calm down.

“Yeah, I know. Thank you Doctor.” Sorin said, rolling his eyes and the both of them smiled.

“Well, there's something oddly familiar about her.” He suddenly began to speak again. “It's like recently I'm beginning to see a lot of resemblance to……” He suddenly stopped talking.

“Resemblance to who?” Kelvin asked but Sorin remained quiet.

“Never mind. Don't worry about it. I don't want to talk about it.” Sorin finally spoke.

“No, no, no, that's not nice and you know it. Why would you want to leave me hanging like that? Speak, please.” Kelvin complained.

“Claire.” Sorin muttered.

Immediately Kelvin heard the name, he pressed the brakes suddenly, making the car tires make a screeching sound. The cars coming behind theirs had to swerve to the side to avoid a head-on collision, while they blared their car horns, angrily.

“Whoa!” Sorin exclaimed. “Are you trying to get us killed and cause an accident?”

“I'm so sorry. I was just shocked.” Kelvin apologized. “What did you just say?” He asked, but Sorin didn't answer him, and only glared at him angrily.

“Did you just say she has some resemblance to Miss Claire? Geez! I've been trying to figure it out all these while but couldn't. Wow.” Kelvin said, still surprised.

“What do you mean?” Sorin asked him.

“You know I've been a little bit close to her since she moved here and so I've been able to see a different side of her that you obviously do not know, because you're too uptight and mean.” Kelvin said, without looking at Sorin because he knew that he would be tearing him into shreds with his eyes at that moment. “I'm sorry to say though, but it's the truth.” Kelvin added.

“So I noticed she had a kind of familiar aura around her, but I've been trying to find out what exactly it is for almost a year now.” He said, but he stopped talking and snapped his fingers as he remembered something.

“Wow. It's been almost a year now since you both got married, you know? Or you do not remember?” He said, turning to look at Sorin and from the look on Sorin's face, he got his answer - Sorin didn't remember.

“Don't tell me… You don't remember? No way! You're really unbelievable, man.” He shook his head in disbelief. “I wonder how that will make her feel if she finds out.” He added.

“Well, I don't care. It's all good, this just makes it easier. I can't wait for all this to be over with!” He snapped at Kelvin.

“What do you mean by that?” Kelvin asked, confused.

“Get me a divorce lawyer.” He said and Kelvin could not believe his ears.

“What? Don't tell me you're trying to divorce her?” Kelvin asked, obviously shocked.

“Isn't it obvious?” Sorin retorted.

“No way! What has she done to deserve that? She has been nothing but calm and obedient to you ever since you married her. On what grounds are you planning to divorce her?” Kelvin said.

“That's none of your business. As soon as we get to the office, get me the lawyer.” He ordered. “And get us out of here or are we gonna sleep on the road?” He said and hissed.

Kelvin could not believe his ears, he could not believe what Sorin was planning to do, but Sorin was the boss and there was little or nothing that he could do to help the situation than to obey the orders given to him.

The cars behind them soon began to honk angrily once again and hearing this, Kelvin ignited the engine and began to drive.
