Chapter 78
I couldn't help but stare at Sorin. He was really a handsome looking man and he definitely was every woman's dream, no wonder Daisy wanted to tear me apart the other day.
He was wearing a black tailored Tuxedo which fitted him perfectly, making him stand tall and confident. He wore a white shirt underneath, which made his already chiseled features more noticeable. He had a black suede bow-tie around his neck to compliment his appearance.
His hair was styled so perfectly and his eyes sparkled as I looked in them. His black shoes were also so shiny. He had the latest wristwatch strapped to his left wrist. I would have been able to swear that I perceived one of the best perfumes I have ever smelt all my life, as its beautiful, strong and masculine fragrance filled the room. No wonder I fell in love with the man even before I met him. I mean, he looked like a perfect work of art.
“Oh my goodness!” Kelvin exclaimed from behind Sorin.
“She looks beautiful, right?” Alice asked, with a smile.
“She looks absolutely stunning.” He responded. “Don't you think so, boss?” He asked Sorin who was still obviously dumbfounded and far away in his thoughts.
“Thank you, Kelvin.” I replied, beaming with smiles, while all our attention shifted to Sorin who was staring at me, not saying anything.
“Sir? Sir? Sir?” Kelvin called but he didn't respond and just kept staring at me.
“Sir!” Kelvin had to increase his voice and tap his shoulders before he snapped out of his thoughts.
“Yes? You were saying?” Sorin asked.
“I said she looks stunning, don't you agree?” Kelvin said to him again.
“I guess so.” Sorin replied nonchalantly and my face dropped.
I guess I expected a compliment from him and so my heart sank when he just answered like there was nothing special.
“We should be on our way now, we're running late.” He said and walked out with Kelvin.
“Pay him no mind, you look fabulous.” Alice complimented me. “He is just acting stubborn.” She added.
“I heard that, Alice.” Sorin shouted from the hallway, outside the room, to my surprise.
“I know you did.” Alice shouted back.
“Wow. I guess you know him very well?” I asked and she nodded.
“We've all been friends, including Kelvin, since we were very young. We just hardly visit each other because everyone is busy doing life differently, and living life on their own terms in their different sectors, but we talk whenever we have the opportunity to due to our busy schedules.” She explained.
“Wow, that is nice.” I managed to say.
“Yeah, I know, right? Not a lot of people know this though. So, it's a secret.” She whispered to me, and I smiled.
“Your secret is safe with me.” I whispered back.
“You should go now. He would start nagging if you keep him waiting for too long.” She said.
“Alright. I'm quite nervous though.” I said, nervously and she gave me a big hug.
“Don't worry, you'll be fine. Just keep your head high.” She encouraged me.
“Thank you, Alice. I really appreciate you.” I thanked her, and we both walked out of the room and headed downstairs for the parking lot.
As we got to the parking lot, Kelvin and Sorin were already standing by the car. As soon as they saw us approaching, Kelvin entered the car, ignited the engine, left it running and came out of the car..
“I'll be on my way now.” Alice said to me.
“Thank you so much for all your help.” I thanked her with a hug.
“Bye Kelvin.” She said and gave him a hug too.
“Bye, thank you for your help.” He said to her.
She rolled her eyes at Sorin, “Come here, Mister.” She said to him, as she held her hands wide open to hug him too, which he acknowledged, while I just kept smiling at them. She also whispered some words into his ears which made him raise his eyebrows but I didn't hear what they said.
“Drive safe.” Sorin said to her.
“Sure.” She responded, and waved at us all, as she walked off to her car which had been parked, and drove off.
After she left, Sorin entered the car and sat down comfortably, after which he shut the door, while Kelvin opened the door at the opposite side for me.
“Thank you.” I said, as I sat nervously.
With the way my heart kept beating so fast, I felt like it was going to pop out of my chest and disappear. I literally had my heart in my mouth as soon as Kelvin sat in the car and began to drive.
I could feel Sorin's eyes on me but I could not find the courage to look in his direction for fear of what he might say, and so I kept looking out the window from my side in the car. I could only wish for all this to be over and done with, so I could go back to my normal ordinary girl life.
After driving for a while, we finally arrived at the most talked about Mansion; The Zaveri's Mighty Mansion. We drove in and in a few seconds, Kelvin parked the car. He alighted and opened the door for me to alight too, which I did.
As I alighted from the car, it felt like I was lost in paradise. I don't know when I opened my mouth in awe of what was before me.
“Is this even earth?” I thought to myself, “No, it definitely can't be. What!!!!!” Different thoughts kept racing in my heart.
“You're surprised, right ma'am? It was Kelvin's voice I heard and I snapped out of my thoughts.
“Yes, Kelvin. I'm literally awestruck! Wow!” I exclaimed, ‘“I don't know what to say. This is far better than I imagined it would be.”
Sorin finally got out of the car and stood there waiting for me as I admired the beauty of the mansion that I was in. He cleared his throat and got my attention. He glared at me and I immediately knew what he wanted me to do.
I immediately walked to him and stood beside him with an awkward smile on my face.
“You know the rules, right?” He said and without giving me the chance to respond, he continued talking, “I'm sure you wouldn't have forgotten everything we talked about. By now, you should know how important this gathering is and so, if you ruin anything for me, you'd hate me, I promise you that.” He said with a straight face and I just nodded in silence.
He held out his arm and stared at me, and so, I instantly got the message. I immediately hooked my hand into his held-out arm.
“Good, now smile and let's go in.” He said and we walked into the house in silence but with a smile on my face.
