“I am sorry,” Mr Clark said as he knew that was the only thing he could say at the moment as he was the one who had hurt them. All he silently prayed was that his family wouldn’t break because of his decision.
Thinking about everything from when Rhiannon came to visit him, he wondered whether there was any other choice that he could have made to avoid everything that was happening in front of him.
He blamed Rhiannon for ruining his family’s happiness as he had thought that it would at least take a week for Kaylee to know the truth but now, he understood how much Rhiannon hated them.
If Rhiannon were to hear him, she would just roll her eyes as she wasn’t the one who looked for trouble but Kaylee. How could she not retaliate if not by telling her what had happened?
Kaylee was still staring at her father and saw the hatred, sadness, and guilt. All those emotions ran in his dark black eyes.
“What do you mean you didn’t have any other choice Dad?” she asked after remembering her father’s words.
At the same time, she wondered how naïve she was to think that her father loved Rhiannon more than he loved her even after finding out that Rhiannon wasn’t her child.
“Isn’t it your fault? You went on to brag that we have a lot of money from the dividends we have accumulated throughout the years. Don’t forget that more than half of them should have belonged to her but since I was her father, she never minded,” Mr Clark said as he glared at Kaylee who lowered her head.
“When she heard you bragging about her money, she got mad and realized she should get back what really belonged to her as I am not her biological father. I haven’t even been giving her monthly allowances and buying her clothes as I buy for you just because her aunt always sent clothes to her and gave her some money. All I did was pay fees and provide her with meals. She said that for that, she will deduct 72.5 million from the money I owe her,” Mr Clark said causing Kaylee to clench her hands as she never thought that what had happened was because of a little bragging.
She regretted showing off in front of Rhiannon who was always a jealous person and never wanted her to get what she wanted and be happy.
“But didn’t she live in our house?” Kaylee asked with a frown.
The current market price for the mansion they were living in had already reached 250 million. She felt that Rhiannon shouldn’t be too arrogant and take notice of the mansion’s price that she had been living in. If possible, she should pay at least 250 million to live there.
Mr Clark shook his head and said, “That was her mother’s mansion, not mine. Even after Sabrina’s death, she never left it under my name but hers. So, if we talk about that, we are the ones who had been living in her house and should pay her not the other way round.”
Hearing this, Kaylee was with hatred and jealousy as she wondered why that wasn’t her. She had always wanted to have that house under her name but…
“How could I afford the billion she was asking for? She suggested that I should sell the shares to her and the money should be deducted from the debt,” Mr Clark said.
“How much did she buy the shares at?” Kaylee frowned as she had a bad feeling.
“Ten million per share thus deducts 450 million from the 1 billion. I now owe her 550 million,” Mr Clark said while Kaylee’s eyes.
“How dare she! She made me buy the 15 percent at 480 million but now she is buying 45 percent at 450 million? How is that different from stealing money on a broad day?” Kaylee asked while he gave her a sarcastic smile.
“Whose fault was it? You went on bragging that you could afford it. Also, you wanted to defeat Rhiannon badly that you didn’t think about the money you were using,” Mr Clark.
“You shouldn’t blame our daughter! You should have bargained for a higher price. That way, the debt would be cleared off quickly! Where are we going to get the 550 million to pay her?” Mrs Clark asked angrily and at the same time fearful.
They never took Rhiannon seriously thinking that although she wasn’t related to the man, she would always swallow the grievances she suffers from Kaylee because they raised them but now, If she could do such things, she was afraid that she would do anything to get her money even if it is making them live in the streets.
“That I don’t know but Kaylee, you should stay away from her. She isn’t the same Rhiannon whom you could treat her the way you want. Any one mistake and we are all done!”
