“Miss Rhiannon, what are you doing here?” the secretary asked as he eyed Rhiannon.
Rhiannon glanced at the latter and knew that there was something they were hiding from her.
“Why shouldn’t I be here? Isn’t this my company?” Rhiannon asked sharply as she eyed her.
The secretary avoided Rhiannon’s sharp eyes as he was afraid that he might do something or that Rhiannon would see the panic in his eyes.
“I am sorry miss,” he said with his head lowered.
Rhiannon glanced at him before walking past him to the president's office.
“How dare you open the door without permission,” an angry voice sounded in the room causing Rhiannon to chuckle coldly.
“You are fired,” she said to the secretary before walking inside.
“Dad, don’t you know the company’s rules? This is my company and I am the president. You are the CEO and should be using the CEO’s office, not my office,” she said coldly as she wasn’t in the mood to entertain the latter.
Mr Clark was shocked when he heard his daughter’s voice.
“You! What are you doing here?” he asked in a panic and at the same time confusion.
“The same question as the secretary? Anyway, I am the company’s president, if I don’t come to work then who will do the work I am supposed to do? After all, I am aware that some business documents should be passed to me before the company’s bill is processed or before any amount is withdrawn,” she said coldly as she stared at her father since she didn’t want to miss any emotion that would run on his eyes.
As expected, a guilty emotion flashed in his eyes and quickly passed. If it weren’t for the fact that she was so focused on the eyes, she wouldn’t have got it.
Rhiannon’s eyes turned cold when she realized that there had to be something fishy going on and vowed that she must see what her father was really up to.
“How can you say that? Did you appoint me to be the company’s CEO to help you take care of the company? Since you left everything under me, I only felt that it was right for me to use your office as I am the company’s president during your absence,” Mr Clark said shamelessly shocking Rhiannon as she had never expected him to say such a thing.
“Then you got me wrong. If you had managed to get Kaylee’s shares, you would have become the company’s president. This office would have been yours and you would be the one making those decisions which am supposed to make but that didn’t happen. As the Company’s CE, I highly advise you to do your work as anyone can replace your position at any time. Also, kindly don’t covet what doesn’t belong to you!” Rhiannon said coldly causing the man to be angry.
“You! How can you talk to your father in that tone?” he asked angrily but Rhiannon just stared at him expressionless and emotionless.
“I am sorry but can’t understand you! This is my office and you have no right to come here when I am not present and even use my office. If something got lost, would you pay for it? Also, who said that I won’t be coming to work and that I need you to stand up for me?” she asked coldly causing him to be confused.
“There is one thing that you should know. Although you are my father, in the workplace, we are just colleagues. The deputy president has a higher position than you thus the person who should take over of my duties when I am not in is the deputy president and not you,” she added.
“That isn’t what you said the other day,” Mr Clark said with a frown as he wondered what had made Rhiannon change her decision.
“Really? I can’t remember. I have only said what I wanted to say and you should leave. We will be having a meeting in an hour so as we can discuss how to take our company to a higher level. I want to finish going through the documents as I sign them before going to the meeting,” Rhiannon said as she stared at him to see whether he would leave or not.
She glanced at her watch and remembered Octavius’ words.
“Always wear this watch. Never remove it as it would be of great help to you. When you are in danger or need the bodyguards' help but they are away from you, You can just press the button and reach out to them.”
She smirked at the thought and promised herself that she would do her best not to cause a lot of panic and also fear among the workers.
She didn’t want them to fear him, instead, she wanted them to admire and aspire to be successful like her.
“Rhiannon! How can you speak to me in that tone? You are now even chasing me away!” her father said angrily as he pointed fingers at her.
“Dad, are you still pointing fingers at me? It seems that you forgot what happened yesterday when you did the same thing you just did,” Rhiannon said as she stared at the finger pointing at her.
Mr Clark shuddered in fear and dropped her finger. He then looked around and when he saw that Rhiannon was alone and no one seemed to be standing at the door, he smirked and stopped being afraid of her threats.
“Your threats won’t work on me,” he said coldly.
“You are right but…” Rhiannon said as she pressed the watched button and summoned the bodyguards.
Rhiannon stared at her father and didn’t dare talk to him. She just sat on the sofa as she waited for them.
“Miss, are you okay?” one of the bodyguards asked as soon as he walked in.
Rhiannon didn’t say anything but looked at her father’s face which had turned pale and chuckled.
She waved her right hand up and they left peacefully.
“What were you saying about threats?” Rhiannon asked softly with a cold smile on her face.
“No …. Nothing,” her father responded as he stammered.
“Can you now leave?” she asked as she was getting tired of him.
“I will leave in a few but I want to ask, is this what you meant by managing the company for you but as CEO? Won’t that be overworking me?” Mr Clark asked.
“Honestly, that’s true. I had the intention of letting you manage the company but after what happened yesterday, I don’t think that that is the right decision. Dad, I always back you up, give you what I can give but have you ever stood on my side against Kaylee and her mother? You are just like them who want to cheat me of my inheritance,” she said coldly causing her father to shake his head in a hurry.
“I am so sorry Rhiannon. You just know how your sister is weak. I didn’t want anything to happen to her,” Mr Clark said causing Rhiannon to shake her head as she wanted to cry but controlled it.
“Weak? I was also a weak dad. How many times did I get sick when I was young? I always cried, told you that I am sick but did you ever pay any attention to me? But Kaylee even if she just coughed for some minutes, you would get anxious and take her to the hospital. Dad, you have always been on her side, when will you support me?” Rhiannon asked causing the man to feel guilty.
“Yesterday, you permitted them to take my mom’s and I’m a jewel, did you care? No! It was unlike the police arrived that you started opposing them. I hate hypocrisy the most. You can tell me that today, you are on my side, tomorrow on them. You chose Kaylee and never chose me but now that I love myself more than you love and care about me, it has now become a problem?” Rhiannon asked as he massaged her temple as her head had started aching.
“Kindly leave as I won’t listen to you anymore,” she said as she stared at the door unwilling to see him she was afraid that she would break as she remembered everything she had gone through since she was a child,
“Rhiannon, I…”
“Guards,” Rhiannon shouted in a loud tone interrupting what Mr Clark wanted to say.
“Madam, did you call us?” they asked as they stared at Rhiannon waiting for her to give them instructions.
“Are you going to leave or should I tell them to escort you?” Rhiannon said as she glanced at Mr Clark.
“I’ll leave. I will leave right now,” He said in a quick response before walking out of the guards through the spaces they had left.
“I am sorry, I called you because of him,” she said in an apologetic tone as he glanced at the guards.
“No problem boss. By the way, people are waiting for you outside. They said that everything has been prepared and that everyone is present in the conference room apart from you.”
